Lavender card ideas

I love the Tres Jolie scrapbooking kit as it is so versatile.  It can be used for a variety of scrapbooking projects but you can also use it to make great cards.  I used the kit to make 3 cards to share with you today.

Card 1

Materials and Measurements

card base - White 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the long side
large purple layer - Purple 3 3/4" x 5"
white layer - 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
horizontal strip - Purple (same as large layer) 1 3/4" x 4 3/4"
pattern paper from kit - 3 different patterns 1/2" x 4 5/8"
top layer background - Purple (same as large layer) 3" x 3 1/2"
top layer - one of the 3" x 4" panels 2 7/8" x 3 3/8"
embossing folder of your choice
purple gems

Step by Step - note this card is worked in landscape

  1. Fold and burnish the card base.
  2. Take the large white panel and emboss with your favorite embossing folder.
  3. Add the panel from Step 2 to the large purple layer using double sided tape.
  4. Glue the panel from Step 3 to the card front centering on all sides.
  5. Attach the 3 pattern paper strips to the purple strip. Add the one in the center first and then add the outside strips leaving the same amount of spacing between the strips and top and bottom. See photo below.

  6. Use double sided tape to add the strip from Step 5 to the center of the White embossed panel.
  7. Glue the image panel to the purple background rectangle.  Add to the left side of the card front leaving about 3/4" from the left edge of the card front using foam dots.
  8. Sprinkle on 3 of the purple gems in the upper right hand corner.
  9. Find an image to stamp the inside of the card and envelope before you send it out to brighten someone's day.

Card 2

Materials and Measurements

card base - White 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the long side
light purple layer - 4" x 5 1/4"
pattern paper from kit - choose one with a subtle pattern 3 7/8" x 4 7/8"
rose bouquet from kit punch outs
purple twine

Step by Step - note this card is worked in landscape

  1. Fold and burnish the card base.
  2. Note - when chopping this pattern paper, keep the pieces in order to maintain the pattern.  Take the piece of pattern paper and with the long side at the top, chop off 1 5/8" from the left side.
  3. Slide the pattern paper to the left and chop off 1 1/2".  This will leave 1 3/4".
  4. Take the pattern paper that is on the left and add it to the left hand side of the light purple panel leaving a 1/8" space from top and bottom and left hand side of purple panel.
  5. Take the right hand piece of pattern paper and add it to the right hand side of the light purple panel leaving a 1/8" space from top and bottom and right hand side of purple panel.
  6. Use the remaining center piece of pattern paper and add it to the open space in the center spacing it evenly between the other 2 pieces.  See photo below.
  7. Wrap the twine around the right hand side of the purple panel 3 times and tie.  Use the twine to make a multi loop bow.  Add the bow to the upper portion of the 3 strips of twine wrapped around the panel.
  8. Glue the panel to the card front centering on all sides.
  9. Choose a bouquet from the punch outs and add it to the left side of the card front using foam dots.
  10. Find an image to stamp the inside of the card and envelope before you send it out to brighten someone's day.
