What If...Mixed Media Canvas

Hello Craft Friends!

Dana here! I have a new project to share. This time I'll be creating a Mixed Media project using the June Tres Jolie Mixed Media kit!

I'm new at creating Mixed media projects, but I look love a challenge and changing things up here and there. This month's kit includes a 8x8 canvas board, Oil pastels from Royal Langnickel, Studio Light Fantasy Mask, Lindy's Magical powder white and Dress my Craft Transfer Me 3D white flowers! I'll be using some items from stash along with a Tres Jolie black chipboard gears *from this month's Scrapbook kit)

To begin, I unwrapped the blank canvas board and Oil pastels. When using oil pastels, I like to use the Rule of three! Chose 3 coordinating colors that go together. I'm using yellow, orange and red for this project. Starting at the top corner, I applied each Oil pastels using short scribble strokes. Layer each color on top of each other. Then taking your finger, blend all three  Oil Pastel colors together using your finger. I keep blending and continue this same process until my canvas is completely colored and you get the desired look you want.

Here's some photos!

Next I chose a paper from the Tres Jolie June Scrapbook kit "Vintage Man " I cut it down to measure 4 & 3/4 x 5 inches. If you don't have this kit, you can use any paper you have in your crafty stash. I Distressed the edges of my piece of paper. Then tore and curled around a few places.

I inked along the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs (my stash)

Then taking a Finnibair Stamp also from my stash, along with some black ink, I stamped my image onto the center of my paper.

Add some foam dots to the back of your paper and adhere onto the center of your canvas. I took one of the sentiment phases "What If...and stamped along the bottom right corner. I glued acouple Finnibair Mechanicals Steampunk gears (also from the June Scrapbook kit) and glued them onto my stamped image, and a Prima flower from a previous Tres Jolie Kit in my stash. Here's a closeup look!

Taking one of the Tres Jolie black chipboard pieces, I cut off the end and adhered this piece along the bottom left edge on my canvas, with the arrow pointing towards my stamped sentiment. Here's a closeup photo!

Now remove your Dress my Craft Transfer sheet from the package. I didn't follow the instructions on the package, when applying these ransfers. It's not wrong, but I  just found this way easier and less messy. But feel free to dodata:text/mce-internal,page-description,Next whatever works best for you. I cut apart several flower images and decided on where I wanted to place them. Peel off the Clear protective film off each transfer piece. Then place face down onto the areas on your canvas. I recommend working on one area at a time. Then I wet my finger with a bit of water and dabbed onto each transfer piece. Leave set for a few seconds, then carefully dab off to dry, using a paper towel. Carefully lift off one corner of your transfer and peel off! Here's a photo!

Another closeup look!

I continued the same steps to apply all my transfer images. You could add as many as you like. I chose to decorate only the top two corners.

Now my canvas is finished! Here's another closeup photo for you!

I hope I've inspired you today with my project. I hope to create more Mixed Media project ideas for you in the future. Thanks for stopping by the Tres Jolie blog!
