Vintage Travel Vignettes Box
Hello Craft Friends!
I'm Dana! May has arrived! And that means exciting new kits are available to purchase from Tres Jolie! Today I'll be creating a Vignettes Travel Box using the May Scrapbook kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club! It features 49 &Market "Everywhere " collection including multiple sheets of Laser Cut Elements which I love! They make the perfect embellishments for any project. That's not all, you get pretty Prima trims, Tres Jolie Chipboards, 49 and Market Tag set and flowers.
Isn't it amazing? Be sure to order your kit early because they do sell out quickly.
I will be using some items from my crafty stash and I purchased a Tim Holtz idea-ology Vignettes Box separately. Also Distress Ink Gathered Twigs and some other items that are from this 49 & Market collection, such as Washi tape stickers, ephemera and chipboard sentiments.
To get started I applied a whitewash application of Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint (my stash) to the sides, back, dividers and inside panels of my box. Set aside to dry.
Next I chose several 12x12 papers to decorate my box. I cut my strips as follows:
Top and Bottom outside panels: cut 2 at 1 & 3/8x 9 3/4 inches, 2 at 1 & 3/8 x 6 & 1/2 inches. Ink your paper strips using Distress Ink Gathered Twigs (my stash)Adhere these on the outside panels of your box.
Backside of box measures 6 & 1/2 x 9 &1/2
Wood Dividers: I cut 2 pieces at 1 & 1/4 x 6 & 3/4 inches, and cut 2 pieces at 1 & 1/8 x 3 & 3/4 inches. Ink and adhere to your wood divider pieces and slide each piece into each section of your box.
Inside back panels, I cut 2 pieces measuring 6 & 1/2 x 2 & 1/2 and 2 small measuring 3 & 1/8 x 3 & 3/4 inches. Ink and adhere these to the inside.
Now we are ready to decorate the inside of our box. I have the most fun planning out how I want to decorate my box and I choose a variety of different embellishments.
The top section, I fussy cut out the workd globe piece from the 12x12 collection pack cover sheet. Ink along the edges and applied foam dots to the back before adhering in the center. I applied a few Washi tape stickers (compass and arrow) and a "This View" sentiment chipboard piece along the top right corner. I glued a set of Tim Holtz idea-ology paper dolls (my stash) on the leftside. Here's acouple closeup photos!
The middle section I added a matching chipboard houses piece and glued over the matching image on my paper. With foam dots I adhered the Exploring sentiment Laser cut element to the top. I also glued the airplane Laser Cut element and bicycle on the left side.
The bottom left section, I glued the suitcases Laser Cut element on an angle along the bottom left corner, with foam dots I adhered the camera Laser element piece, chipboard Road Trip inside. At the top left I glued another sentiment piece from the Ephemera pack (my stash) Here's a closeup!
On the lower right section, I adhered a vintage photo, scored about 1/2 inch on the right side of photo, and glued inside and the scored part of my photo along the right inside edge. I stapled a ephemera ticket and glued at the top at an angle. Here's a closeup!
To finish I glued a Graphic45 metal handle at the top using a strong permanent glue such as Beacon glue. (Both from my stash)
Now it's ready to display and enjoy! You can add more photos or other embellishments you have in your crafty stash if you prefer.
