Vintage Rose Wall Hanging
Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here! Today I'll be creating a Home Decor Wall Hanging project using the Tres Jolie July Scrapbook kit! I love to add a favorite photo to my home decor projects. It's something you can enjoy looking and reflecting back to that special memory of a loved one or place you visited.
This month's Scrapbook kit has a ton of goodies sure to make your layouts, home decor really stand out above the rest!
You receive Ciaobella Watercolor 12x12 double sided papers with florals, Butterflies and unique backgrounds, you are sure to LOVE! In addition you'll receive Tres jolie chipboards Prima marketing Flowers, Memory Hardware Antique Cloches, and 49 and Market flowers! There are plenty of Journaling cards included in your paper pack. Here's a photo of the Scrapbook kit:
For the base of my project, I'm using a Craft with Me Framed Wood Sign. It measures 16x16.
From my stash I'll be using Stickles Stardust and Diamond glitter, Soft gloss gel, white Gesso, Crackle Paste, Finnibair melange art pebbles and Art Stones. I'll be inking all my fussycut images and papers using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs. Form dots and tape.
To begin I took some white Gesso and applied to the inside base. Gesso is sort of a primerand it preps your surface where you are adding other mediums like paint, inks, watercolor etc..I wasn't sure where I was going with my design at this point. So I just applied a light coat of Gesso over the whole surface with a paintbrush. Let dry or dry with a heat tool. See photo:
Next I chose a background patterned paper. Here's the paper i chose with the crisscross grids:
Lay your paper inside your framed area. With a bone folder I marked where to tear my excess paper away. See photo:
I continued to tear my paper around the corners and sides. Then I applied Distress Ink Rusty Hinge onto the edges. This creates a worn look. See photo:
Glue your paper onto the center of your frame. See photo:
Set your frame aside for now. I took the cover sheet with images on the backside and cut out the Roses paper, measuring 6x 8 &1/2 inches. Here's a photo:
I took a Distress tool (my stash) and distressed around all the edges. With slightly wet fingers, I tore in a few areas all around the card, curling the ends. Then applied Distress Ink Gathered Twigs on the edges of my card. You can add a photo here, as I did. Or more than one photo if you desire. I adhered my Roses card in the center of my frame using foam tape. Here's a photo:
Set your frame aside. Next I fussycut out some images from the papers and element cover sheet. I decided not to use all of them but you can save them and they ready to go to use on other layouts. I did Ink all my fussycut pieces. Here's a photo:
Now take your frame, and some Distress Crackle Paste and a palette knife and apply the Crackle in a few areas around your Rose card. Let dry throughly overnight. You'll get a better Crackle effect. See photo:
While your Crackle dries, you can chose one of the Memory Hardware Antique Cloches. I chose the one that says: LA VIE. It means French "the life". Taking one of my floral scrap papers I glued my Antique Cloche onto my scrap paper making sure the flowers show through. I recommend using Glossy accents as your adhesive. It dries clear. Set this to dry overnight. After it is dry, you can trim the excess paper away. See photo:
Now we can start arranging all our embellishments! This is so much fun and once you are satisfied with their placement, you can adhere in place. I like to use a variety of different embellishments, including the beautiful Prima marketing and 49 and Market flowers.
Over the top of my Crackle Paste areas, I applied lightly some Distress Ink over the top using my ink dabber from my stash.
In the upper left corner I tucked a diecut doily from my stash, behind my Rose card at the left corner. I cut apart one of the floral fussycut pieces see photo:
I tucked both pieces around the left top corner. I glued a fussycut butterfly on top! I took some Finnibair soft gloss gel and applied a small amount over the Crackle area at the top. Then sprinkle some Finnibair Art Stones over the Soft gloss gel.
I glued a Finnibair Melange pebble on the left edge. Here's acouple closeups!
In the upper right corner I glued a large Prima flower, a few 49 and Market Leaves, and flower buds. The small green Prima flower I had in my stash. I glued another Finnibair melange pebble at the bottom. On the side I applied more soft gloss gel and Finnibair Art Stones. See photos:
I took my fussycut sentiment pieces and curled both ends and glued on the lower right corner. With foam dots I adhered the small butterfly! Here's a closeup look:
I glued the Antique Cloche on the lower right edge on my Roses card. On the bottom left edge, with foam dots I adhered the pitcher with the flowers and little bird. I added another Prima flower from my stash and one of the 49 and Market flowers in our kit. I tucked a tiny butterfly among the flower petals. I also applied more soft gloss gel and Finnibair Art Stones along the bottom edge. See photos:
To finish my project, I like to add some Stickles Stardust and Diamond glitter on the butterfly wings and some of the flowers. Here's another photo:
