Hello Craft Friends!
Happy February! It's the month of LOVE! Thanks for being here today! I have a Home Decor project to share with you using the Tres Jolie February Mixed Media kit.
This kit features a Wooden Heart that you can decorate in so many ways. You can cover with paint, patterned papers, inks, sprays and so much more. In this kit you'll receive Stamperia Medium Glue for mixing pigments or add gliding effects, Pearl Ex Pigment powders in Pink Gold and Pearl White, and Lisa Hortons Gliding Flakes which add a special glistening effect you can use on a variety of surfaces, and Tres Jolie New Valentine Heart
s Chipboard Here's a ph
oto of this month's kit:
From my stash I am using Patterned papers from Prima Marketing "Love Clippings", Prima Resin frame, Prima flowers and crystals, cardboard, mini white pearl strand, Pink Tulle, Clear Gesso and foam dots, string of pearls.
I chose 2 of the same matching patterned papers and trace around my Wooden heart shape. Cut them out and glue onto the Heart base, lining them up even in the center. (Don't worry the center line won't show once we cover with our embellishments. Using my xaco knife i trimmed any excess paper away from my wood heart. See photos:
Now taking some Clear Gesso is applied a thin coat using a sponge brush. Let dry. The Gesso helps keep any mixed medium products from soaking through the paper.
Set your heart aside and take out your Tres Jolie Chipboard Hearts piece. With a small water brush (my stash) I applied some Pearl Ex Pink Rose Pigment powder from the kit, onto each heart. Let dry. See photo:
NextI took my Prima Resin frame and Pearl Ex Pigment powders in Pink Gold, in this kit and Spring Green Pigment powder from a previous Tres Jolie Kit last year. With a waterbrush I applied my Pigment powders to the Roses and leaves at the top of my frame. See photos:
Then I glued a string of white pearls around the inside edge. I glued a small photo behind my Resinn frame and set aside to dry.
Set your frame aside. Now take acouple pieces of corrugated cardboard and tear into 2 pieces. Glue them to the center of your wood heart. See photo:
Using a sponge brush i applied some White gesso on both cardboard pieces. Let dry.
Taking my Rose Gold Pigment powder and Finnibair Sparks paint Butterfly Spells i applied over top of my cardboard pieces. Also from my stash, I painted a few different size Finnibair Melange pebbles. Let dry. Note: I ended up not using all these pebbles. But you can save them for future projects.
From my Prima marketing Love Clippings I chose a 4x6 Journaling card and distressed around the edges. Then using foam dots i adhered my journal card on the center of my Wooden heart. Make sure the corrugated cardboard shows at the top and bottom edges. This adds texture and interest. I glued my Resin frame towards the left side, I cut a small white Doily in half and tucked behind on each side of my journal card and glued in place. With foam dots I adhered the "Love" ephemera sentiment at the bottom of my wood heart. Here's a photo:
I cut a strip of 3 more Tres Jolie Chipboard hearts and glued some Rose Gold stickers from my stash, behind each chipboard heart.
Trim off any excess sticker. Then I adhered them in place using foam dots as seen in the above photo.
On the right side on my journal card i glued some Prima flowers stem and leaves. Here's a closeup photo:
I added a heart ephemera sentiment piece with foam dots at the top left corner. To finish my project I took the Stamperia Medium Glue and gliding flakes in your kit,
and applied the glue on the edge of my heart. Then sprinkle some gliding flakes-Rose Gold over top. Brush the excess flakes off with a stiff sponge or brush. This adds a nice glistening effect to your project. Here's a photo:
To finish our project, I took a piece of pink Tulle, Knotted both ends and glued at the backside of my Wooden heart. Now it's ready to hang! Here's some closeup photos!
I hope you liked my project and will order your kit today! Thank you for joining me on the Tres Jolie Blog!
