Upcycled Christmas Box and Tags
Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here! Today I'll be creating some Christmas Tags and decorative Upcycled box to hold your tags inside. I love to reuse boxes and cartons of every size and shape, and create something unique with them. I hope you'll find my project share helpful and be inspired!
To make this project, I'll be using the Tres Jolie November Scrapbook kit! I know you're going to love this kit. It includes some gorgeous 12x12 papers from 3 Quarter Designs! They are all double sided and include matching diecut punchouts, and element sheets you can fussycut and use as embellishments on almost any project. But there's more! You'll also receive Tres Jolie Chipboard Angels in various sizes, 2 packages of Little Birdie flowers! Here's a photo of the kit:
I'll also be using some items from my craft stash which includes: Embossing powder-Green tinsel and gold, Stickles Glitter Diamond, small bow die, Dazzle stickers, Gold Tulle, foam dots and gold micro beads, Gold Gliding Wax and Distress Ink Gathered Twigs.
My Upcycled box measures 10 & 1/4 x 6 inches. The Chipboard Tags are from Tres Jolie Kit Club shop https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/miscellaneous
The Chipboard Tags measure 4 x 9 inches. So they fit perfectly into my box. If you don't have a box lying around, you can create your own box using any heavy cardboard or Cardstock you have in your stash!
We will begin our project by decorating the front cover of our box. I cut the Santa paper to 10 1/8x 6 " and adhere with glue.
I chose to cover the outside edges and front cover of my box using the (backside of Santa paper- wood grain) I cut 2 long pieces to measure 10 & 1/8 x 1 inches. Glue along the edge of your box. See photo:
Cut 2 pieces measuring 6 x 1 inches and adhere on the short ends of your box. You will need to adjust your measurements if you are using a different size box.
Now we can decorate the top cover. I chose some of the punchout diecut ornaments, Poinsetta/ornament image and presents. From one of the small journal cards, I cut out the "Seasons Greetings" sentiment. And from another Santa paper, I fussycut out the Santa image. See photo:
I adhered the Santa overtop of the matching image using foam dots to add dimension. Taking a small bow die and some metallic paper in my craft stash, I diecut 2 bows red and green,
then glued them on the top of my 2 ornaments.
I decided on where to place my embellishments before gluing them down. The 3 ornaments along the top edge, I adhered with foam dots, as well as the sentiment and other diecut pieces. Taking the Little Birdie flowers in this kit, I arranged them around my Santa. I glued acouple pearls (my stash) onto my red flower petals. Here's some closeup photos:
Now we can start decorating our Tres Jolie Chipboard Tags! Each tag measures 4 x 9 inches. I am using 3 Tags for this project.
I covered my 1st tag with the leftover Santa paper, punched a hole at the top.
Using my xaco knife I trimmed around each of the 4 corners on my tag. See photo:
Take one of the Angel chipboard pieces and rub some gold Gliding Wax over the top.
I added some Dazzle Silver stickers on the swirls on the Angel wings. Set aside. Next I fussycut out some ornament shapes, Poinsettas images.
I arranged them on my tag and then glued in place. Acouple ornaments along the top I adhered using foam dots. I glued my Chipboard Angel on the upper left side. With foam dots, I adhered my other images. In the center of my Poinsettas, I added glue to the centers and sprinkled some gold micro beads. Also from this month's Mixed Media kit, i applied some of the Diamond Dust over the Poinsetta leaves. See photo:
To finish I applied a Dazzle sticker border along the bottom edge. And tied a piece of gold tulle through the hole at the top of my tag. Here's some photos:
Tag 2: I cut the Angel paper to measure 8 & 3/4 x 4 inches and glued onto my tag.
I chose acouple diecuts (candles and wreath) and fussycut a small white and red Poinsettas. See photo:
Note: you don't have to punch a hole in the center of your wreath. Taking another Tres Jolie chipboard "Believe" https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/holidays
i covered with gold Embossing powder and embossed using my heat tool. See photo:
Glue the Believe chipboard sentiment in the center of your tag above the Angel. Take the wreath diecut and glue at the top and i added a glitter staring the center! At the bottom edge I glued my fussycut Poinsettas and on the white Poinsetta I applied a gold gem. On the red Poinsetta I added some gold micro beads in the center. On the angel's wings i applied some Stickles Gold glitter. With foam dots I adhered the candle diecut. Here's some closeup photos!
Tag 3: I covered my tag with another patterned paper (with the Christmas tree)from the kit and cut the same size as we did on our other Tags. I took the larger Tres Jolie Chipboard Angel, and covered the top with Green Tinsel Embossing powder and heat embossed. See photo:
Then glued the Angel towards the bottom edge.
I cut out the sentiment "Christmas Magic " from the bottom of another journal card and some of the small ornaments from the same journal card. From the same Tree scrap paper, I cut out the 3 stars and red Poinsetta. I also chose one of the white Poinsetta Flowers from the Little Birdie flower package in the kit. See photo:
I took one of the larger ornament diecuts and adhered along the top edge of my tag, using foam dots. I adhered the other small ornaments at the top scattered, some with foam dots to add more dimension! I glued the small star in the center on my chipboard Angel. The "Christmas Magic " sentiment i slightly curled and glued at the bottom edge. The large star is adhered with foam dots. Here's some photos:
Now our tags are finished! You can store your tags in the box and give as a special surprise to a friend or family member. These Tags would also be a great way to decorate your Christmas packages!
I hope you enjoyed my project today! Please share your tags on our Tres Jolie kit club Cafe Facebook page! I'd love to see them.
