Unfolding the Fun: Creating Interactive Folds with the May Kit

There is nothing quite like the "wow" factor of a card that does more than just open and close. This month, I decided to take the May Cards, Tags, & More Kit and push the boundaries of standard card design with these vibrant double-fold interactive cards.

The rich, warm yellows and botanical elements in the Paper Roses collection are so energetic that they practically beg for a design that moves

Watch the Process: Step-by-Step Video Tutorial

I know that interactive folds can look a little intimidating at first glance, so I’ve recorded a full step-by-step tutorial over on our YouTube channel! In the video, I walk you through the scoring measurements, how to properly "bridge" your folds with chipboard, and my favorite ways to layer those beautiful blooms for maximum impact. Grab your kit and come create with me!

The Details that Pop

To bring these fun folds to life, I leaned heavily into the structural elements included in this month's kit:

  • Honeycomb Accents: I used the hexagon chipboard pieces to bridge the folds. On the top card, the natural wood tone adds an earthy touch, while on the bottom card, I gave the chipboard a shimmering golden finish.

  • Textured Blooms: Those large yellow paper flowers are the perfect focal point! They add immediate height and a soft, tactile feel.

  • Sentiments with Purpose: Using the "be awesome today" and "do your best" strips adds a modern, encouraging touch to the vintage-inspired backgrounds.

Make Your Own!

With the coordinated pieces in the May Cards, Tags, & More Kit, the hard work of matching colors and textures is already done for you. All you need to do is follow along with the video, score, and fold!
