Slimline Floral Sentiment Cards
Hello Craft Friends! D
Dana here! Can you believe July is already here? This means we have new kits available and chipboards from Tres Jolie along with plenty of inspiration to share! Be sure to visitthe shop and grab a kit before they are gone. For Today's project, I'll be creating some Slimline cards using the new Cards Tags and More kit from Asuka's "Dusty Rose" Slimline paper pad, heavy white cardstock pack (for your card bases) ephemera pack, Tres Jolie Chipboard Butterflies and Little Birdie flowers!
To begin our project, take 3 pieces of white cardstock in your kit. Lay on your score board and cut off 2 inches (on the 11" side) turn your paper and cut off 1/2 inch off the 8 & 1/2 " side. Then score at 4 inches. Fold and crease each card base. You card base will measure 9x4 inches. Here's a photo showing the two pieces you cut off and how your Slimline card base should look.
Now we are ready to start creating our cards. I'll be using a variety of different chipboard pieces from Tres Jolie on my cards. These are available in the shop. The butterfly chipboards are again included in this card kit. I'll be inking all my papers using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs (my stash ) it's my favorite Distress Ink!
Card 1: I chose one of the patterned papers from the Slimline paper pad. I added some foam tape on the back and adhered my paper to my card base. This adds dimension. Here's a photo!
I fussy cut out a few Butterflies from another paper in this pack. I chose this pretty "Love" chipboard piece and left it bare. But you could paint, ink, add glitter if you prefer. I glued the chipboard piece in the center of my card. Then glued a tiny pink rose (my stash) at the top of my chipboard heart!
I cut out acouple sentiments from another paper and adhered scattered onto my card using foam dots. (My stash) Now glue your Butterflies onto your card. I bent the wings slightly upward to create movement. From my stash, I glued a few sequins on my card. To finish I applied some Stickles Diamond glitter on my butterfly wings and on some of the floral images. Here's my finished card!
Some closeup photos for you!
Card 2: I chose the blue/doily paper from the paper pack and adhered to my card base using foam tape as we previously did on our first card. Set this aside for now.
Take one of the Butterfly chipboards in your kit. Taking a small paintbrush, I applied some Luna paste "Moonlight Rose" (my stash) onto the wings on my chipboard butterfly. Let dry. I left the antennas, head and body of my butterfly bare. When your wings are dry, I took a clear sparkle pen (in my stash) and brushed over top of my butterfly wings, to add a bit more sparkle. I love sparkle don't you? Then I applied some Dazzle stickers (my stash) on top of my butterfly wings. And some pearl gems onto my butterfly antennas. Here's a photo!
Now apply some some foam dots to the back of your chipboard butterfly and adhere towards the top of your card. Next take one of the beautiful Little Birdie flowers in your kit and glue towards the bottom of your card. I added a tiny pink rose, acouple lace flowers tucked underneath my blue flower. (These items are from my stash) I fussy cut out acouple small Butterflies from another paper from your paper pad, and glued them in between my blue flower petals! To finish this card, I took some Sparkle gems (my stash) and glued to scattered areas on my card. Here's my finished card and acouple closeup photos!
Card 3: I adhered the delicate lace paper to my card base using foam tape as we did before.
Then I took another floral paper, cut to 1/2 inch off the top and side and adhered over top of my previous paper using foam tape.
Set your card aside for now. Taking a Tres Jolie chipboard frame piece I cut off a portion from both ends of my chipboard. Here's a photo of before and after:
Next taking some Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint and a paintbrush, I applied some paint onto the front and sides of my chipboard piece. Let dry.
Once your paint has dried, I applied a small amount of light blue ink (my stash) over the top.
Now take your chipboard circle piece and trace onto a coordinating paper and glue onto your circle. Trim away any excess paper using an x-acto knife (my stash) smooth any rough edges using a Distress tool. (My stash)
Add some foam dots to the back of your chipboard piece and adhere to the center of your card. Add foam dots to your chipboard circle before adhering.
Now we can decorate our Slimline card using embellishments from this kit. I took acouple Little Birdie flowers from the package. The blue flower I adhered along the bottom right corner. The other flower I peeled off the larger petals, and glued it on the left side. I added some pearl gems and sequin stars (from my stash) and adhered the Dream ephemera sentiment at the top! Here's some closeup photos!
My finished card!
