Slimline Cards! - July 2023 Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, y’all! I don’t know about my fellow Northern Hemisphere residents, but I’m already tired of summer! I don’t like all this heat at all! So, I’ve decided to stay indoors as much as possible and craft!

For my first Tres Jolie Kit Club July project I have a couple of slimline cards for you that I created using this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit plus the Botanical Stains from this month’s Mixed Media Kit. One card I made is still flat enough to fit in a #10 envelope, and the second one can fit, it’s just a bit tighter because of the flowers – and the flowers would probably be a lot flatter by the time they reached their destination!

Be sure to check out my video to see how these two cards quickly came together!

To prepare the ephemera I wanted to use on the flat card, I used the Marigold and Woad Blue Botanical Stains on the Asuka ephemera, and, after coating the Tres Jolie Chipboard butterfly with clear gesso, I added all three Botanical Stains to it.

I cut the white cardstock down to 8”x9-3/8” and folded it in half to create a 4”x9-3/8” base. To give my card two layers, I cut 3/4” strips of the yellow sweater print patterned paper to create a frame as the bottom layer. My card front has a layer of gesso on it, and after adding some double-sided adhesive foam tape and some splatters (using Marigold Botanical Stain) to the patterned paper I attached it to the card base. After that, the only thing left to do was glue my ephemera pieces and sentiment in place.

My second card, while thicker, was even simpler to create! I cut an “L” shape from the edge of one of the patterned papers to create an offset bottom layer of this card and attached it to the card base. For the card front, I added a few splatters of Black Bean Botanical Stain, and the double-sided adhesive foam, then attached the card front to the card base.

Originally I had picked a few bits of ephemera to use on the card front, but once I started playing around with everything I realized I preferred this card with just a couple of the Little Birdie flowers and a simple sentiment!

And there you have it, two quick and easy slimline cards!

Thank you for joining me on the blog today! I hope you enjoyed these two slimline cards and they gave you some inspiration to go out and create your own!
