Simple Vintage Junk Journal

Good Morning everyone,

I hope you are having a great weekend.

Do you have scraps from your Tres Jolie Scrapbooking Kits, well today I am creating a Simple Vintage Junk Journal using scraps from past projects with the July Scrapbook Kit featuring Simple Stories, Simple Vintage Essential Collection. So get out those scraps and use what's in your stash. I hope you enjoy the today's short project.

Down below I have a video tutorial you can follow along and create this Simple Vintage Junk Journal, it's super quick and easy.

To begin this junk journal grab your scraps. The cover of our journal measures at 12 x 8 inches and fold in half. The inside pages are copy papers that have been tea died (from my stash) that measure 11x 7 5/8 inches, fold in half, they will fit perfectly inside your junk journal.

Next take your cover and scoreboard and place your fold line at the 6 inch mark on your scoreboard. Now score at 5 7/8 inch and score 6 1/8 inch. This creates a small spine but will help your pages to fold back and forth without stiffness.

Next grab a ruler and place the ruler on top of the cover on the middle score line. Mark your holes at 1 1/2, 3 1/2, 5 1/2, and 7 1/2 inches, this is where you will make your holes.

Polk the holes through the cover.

Next fold the cover in half and place the folded edge of the cover next to the line of the pages. (see in the photo that you can see the holes on the sides of the cover next to the folded line) Mark the holes using the cover as a template on where to place the holes.

Once you mark the holes you can poke holes in the pages and in the scrap pattern papers you are adding to your journal.

Next get ready to put this together. You will need your needle and a thick thread or twine. I used black twine. To start sewing put your needle and thread through the middle hole first go up to the next hole and then go back through the hole below (3 hole down), sew back and forth (see video for more details) and tie off once your done sewing.

Next we are gonna make some pockets using a piece of scrap pattern paper. The paper measures 4 5/8 x 12 but cut down to 2 1/4 x 9 inches. Score a 1/2 inch on the right and left side with the 9 inch across the scoreboard turn with the 2 1/4 inch across the scoreboard and score 1/2 inch.

Fold all little tabs in and cut diagonally where the 2 score lines meet in an X (see photo below).

Fold in 1/2 inch tabs and place your tape or glue on the tabs. Adhere the pocket down with open side facing inward and the fold of the pocket would be on edge of the left inside cover.

Once finished you can now decorate your junk journal. Below are a couple of photos I'm sharing of the cover and pages I decorated.

This page I used Bingo card left over from the paper, an ephemera piece and sentiment from my stash.

These two pages I used the rest of my Simple Vintage Essentials rub-ons from the Scrapbooking Kit, placed a Bingo card one page and the other page added the alphabet rub-ons with a book page from my stash I inked up along with lace and some fabric flowers from my stash.

This page is done with one of Vintage Essentials pattern papers along with lace and other items from my stash. The flower in the frame is actually the white flower pattern paper and I painted the flower pink and colored in the leaves.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy Simple Vintage Junk Journal. I had a great time putting this together. Thanks so much for joining me. I have all the links below for you to check out the store and visit us on our social media. Hope to see you there. Hugs and Happy Crafting.
