Simple Stories Simple Vintage Ancestry Cards
Happy New Year crafty friends! I hope that you all had some great holiday's and are keeping safe. I myself have been keeping busy creating a variety of craft projects. Making cards can at times be intimidating for those paper crafters that either are just beginning paper crafts or those who want to create just a simple quick card. I like to create a quick card to get into the mail. Here are a few that I created using the beautiful card kit from Tres Jolie Kits.
I decided that I was use some scrap card stock that I keep for just cards so I trimmed them to a couple different sizes. They are all textured card stock from American Crafts, the sizes are (2) 4.25 X 5.50 & 5 X 5.
On the first card, the one that has a dark red card stock base, I was attempting to create a card with the quilt pattern. I honestly attempted to make another one after this initial one but my medication causes my hands to shake a lot. So I was struggling to adhere them straight so I did away with it until a day that my shaking isn't so badly. I will do a tutorial for these quilt pattern cards because they are fun and beautiful. I used also some non brand dies on the sentiment with a Maggie Holmes clear stamp. Lastly added a couple of the foam stickers from the kit.
One my second card I wanted to include the 3 X 4 cut out pages in the paper pad included in this kit, these come in very handy for cards. No having to pull out dies or stamps, ink, embossing powders , etc. On this card I did a little layering beginning with a light blue card stock base, then I trimmed one of the beautiful papers from the paper pad from Simple Stories, before adhering that down to the base I added a white ribbon knot bow. I'm not the best at creating bows but I came across a tutorial on YouTube that was pretty easy and I liked how this type of bow looks. I then adhered this sheet onto the base. I then took another piece of the pattern paper and adhered the 3 X 4 cut out then adhered that to the piece with the ribbon. I then added a plain white card stock inside of the card where added writing can be done. I then added another one of the foam stickers from the collection on top of the printed one on the journaling card. Just a little added dimenson.
Then on my last card , this is the 5 X 5 base. I went through the paper pad from the kit and picked out one of the sheets that has a larger sentiment on it. I then trimmed it to fit onto the base. I did the same bow on this card, the only thing I did differently was I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Stormy Sky) with some water onto my craft mat and the ribbon. Then used my heat tool to dry it. I then adhered that to that sheet I had cut to size. I then added the blue fabric flower from Prima Marketing then added a couple of smaller flowers that were included in the card kit that are from 49 and Market. Lastly I added the blue foam butterfly on one of the butterflies already printed on the paper. So this card was very easy to create.
So if you are not quite sure what to create with these pages in these paper pads, they still can be used on card or even a layout. Since they are double sided , keep the scraps for creating perhaps a quilted pattern card next time!
I hope that you enjoyed the cards I came up with this month! Don't forget to join in this month's mood board challenge as well!
