She Felt Invisible - A Tag for Tres Jolie
Today, I’m sharing the project that I made using Tres Jolie’s Mixed Media Kit for May: an oversized tag covered with rice paper and a bit of stenciling and decorated with some fun flowers made with a Shrink Prink frosted sheet.
I started by cutting my flower pieces, using two of my favorite Sizzix dies: Tattered Florals and Tattered Leaves and coloring them with markers.
No need for perfection here as you can see.
I used my heat tool to shrink and shape the pieces. (Check out Kim’s YouTube tutorial for a perfect “how to”.)
I coated my tag with gel medium and covered it with one of the rice paper sheets that came in the kit. Using a brayer, I smoothed the paper down, starting in the center and rolling toward the edges. While the gel was still wet, I tore the paper around the edges of the tag, using my finger to press the fibers down to lie flat. I set it aside to dry.
The kit comes with three jars of modeling paste and a small stencil. I used these to create some areas of interest around the surface.
I began to add the flowers and leaves, layering them as I went. (After some trial and error, I found that Fabri-Tac glue worked best.) I added some pearls from my stash to the centers of the two largest flowers.
I finished my tag by punching a hole at the top and adding several lengths of seam binding.
