Reflections

Hey all my creative peeps!  It's Michelle and I'm excited to be creating in 2021!  Today I'm sharing a project I created with the January Mixed Media kit.  

Check out this awesome kit!  This amazing wooden frame in the mixed media kit is designed and cut out right here at Tres Jolie!!  It has such cool vintage, victorian vibes...it reminded me of an old victorian mirror.  

Anyway, I had this idea to put a picture of me and my mother in it and give it to her as a give so she could see our "reflection" in it every time she looks at it.  

So here is how I made it...

I began by painting the wooden frame with the Prima Sparks paint in "Butterfly Spells" to give it a metallic pink under tone.

Next I white washed it with the Dina Wakely White Media Paint.  Making sure to allow the pink to still show through.

I snipped the Prima flowers in half and only used the lower half, bending them to the shape of the frame.

Brush on some of the white Dina Wakely paint to the edges of the flowers

Sprinkle with some of the Prima micro beads and press them down with your finger to secure them into the paint a bit.

Next add some of the Prima Art stones into a dollop of the Dina Wakely white paint and mix up.

Apply that textured mixture onto the painted wooden frame in select sections randomly, making sure to feather out the beads and white paint a bit.  You can go back and add a touch more white paint with a dry brush or your finger to even out the look.

I finished it all off with a rub of gold metallic paint over all the raised areas and along the edges to give it some shine and added interest.
