Recycled gift box and Matching Card

Hi Craft Friends!

I'm Dana and I'm back as a guest designer for Tres Jolie! My project today is how to create a gift box from a recycled candy box. I think this is a great way to help our environment and save some money too. You can use any sized box you have on hand. We will be using the Tres Jolie July Cards, Tags and More  kit.

To begin I traced my box cover and bottom piece onto coordinating papers from the kit. Trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife, inked the edges of my papers, using Tim Holtz Distress Ink-  Rusty Hinge and adhered my papers onto the top and bottom of my box using Beacon glue.

For the sides of my box, I cut 2 "Blossom Like a Rose" pieces of paper 8 x 2 & 1/4 inches, scored every 2 inches overlapping the ends (you can score 1/4 inch on the end) and glue all around the outside edge of my box. The inside border of my box I cut at 8 x 2 1/8 inches and scored at 1 & 7/8 inches. Glue and over lap about 1/4 inch on the end as you previously did on the outside of your box. I added some vintage lace in my stash, along the top edge of my top part of my box.

Next I cut out a smaller Journaling cards to decorate the sides of my gift box. Using my dies from my stash, I diecut some foliage pieces to use.

To decorate my gift box, I used some pretty Prima flowers in my stash along with the blue flowers from this kit. I brushed on some Luna paste Moonlight Pearl onto some of my flower petals, tucked some diecut foliage and leaves between my flowers and added a few pearls!  Added a chipboard piece and another small Journaling card and tiny stamps from the papers included in this kit.

Now glue some smaller Journaling cards along the outside edges on your box!

Now we can create a matching card to send along with our gift box!

My card measures 4 1/4 x 5 & 1/2 inches. I cut a base piece of paper leaving about 1/4 white border around the edge. The second layer measures 3 & 1/2 x 4 & 3/4 inches. I adhered over the previous layer using foam dots.

I fussy cut a hat, teapot and teacup from one of the papers. Inked my edges. I adhered a smaller Journaling card at the top I using foam dots and adhered the hat on the upper right corner with foam dots. I added some Stickles glitter Diamond to some of the flowers on my Journaling card. I love sparkle!

Glue your teapot and using foam dots adhere your teacup on top! Then to finish my card I added a chipboard sentiment from our kit and a pearl gem at the top!

I hope you enjoyed this project and will create a gift box and card to send to a special friend or family member.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Dana
