Own Your Dreams - Mixed Media Journal Entry

Happy Hump Day y'all!!  It's Michelle sharing my last project of the month and this week I'm getting messy in my art journal, which is by far my favorite thing to do with my mixed media supplies...and a great way to continue using all those extra art mediums you get in the mixed media kit!

This time I'm working in my handmade plaster journal so my pages are already prepped and ready to go with plaster.

I started by adding more texture with some coarse texture paste from my stash (you could also use modeling paste here or any texture paste)

I smoothed it out a bit with my pallet knife

Next I added some torn printed tissue paper from a past kit, making sure to keep it random and full of lots of wrinkles for nice texture and character.

I came back over it and feathered the texture medium a bit to keep it adhered down and continued working, layering on additional pieces till I liked the look.

Then I applied the Prima Sparks Acrylic Paint in Butterfly Spells with the pallet knife, making sure to lightly drag it along the page to get some great dragging effects and still allowing the bottom layer to show through.

While that layer is still wet I added the art pebbles to the wet paint and rolled them around to get them covered and adhered to the paint.

Finally I sprinkled the Prima Micro Beads in "Blush" over the top of the wet painted areas.

I finished it all off with a Tim Holtz paper doll and a chipboard title from my stash.
