Mosaic Butterfly | Shannon Allor
Hello friends! It’s Shannon up on the blog today bringing you this sweet mixed media project!
Are you looking to unleash your creativity and create a beautiful piece of art? Learn how to create a butterfly mosaic mixed media project that will leave you in awe of your own artistic abilities.
What materials do you need?
To start your butterfly mosaic project, you will need a sturdy background, liquid adhesive, white gesso or paint and your Mixed Media Kit.
How to design your butterfly mosaic
I used white gesso and a bit of the paint to create a quick and messy background. Then, sketch out your butterfly design on the base using a pencil. I used a scrap piece of paper folded in half. I find it much easier to do one side for symmetry.
I used all three Prima paints on a piece of sturdy cardstock. Set it aside to dry. Once dry, you can tear it up into nice little pieces to act as your tiles.
I had so much fun designing this butterfly. I used liquid adhesive to tack all of my paper pieces down.
Now it’s time to finish this project up. I used the Modeling Powder for my cement. It looks so much like the real thing!
Add a simple sentiment and then your project is complete!
