Mixed Media Vintage Wood Frame and Canvas
Hello Crafters!
Dana here! I'm thrilled to be back and share another project this month. Today I'll be using the Tres Jolie Mixed Media kit for August! This is an amazing Kit. Here's what's included: 8x 10 inch blank canvas, Rice paper sheet, 2 reain sweirled corner pieces and wood frame. These fun Paint Couture Texture Crust, and Chalk style paint French Rose, and Paint Couture Lux Metallics paints in Amazon and Antique Gold. You're going to love these Metallic paints. They add a nice shimmer to your projects! Be sure to order your kit early before they sell out. Here's a photo of our August Mixed Media kit from Tres Jolie Kit club:
From my stash, I will be using a sanding tool, pliers, Prima Marketing Flowers, metal key charm, pearls, Prima Rose crystal gems and Modge Podge Glossy, lace trim, Tim Holtz Idea-ology Salvaged Heart.
To start our project, i took the Paint Couture Lux Metallics Antique Gold paint and the two resin Swirled corners. With a paintbrush.I I applied the Antique Gold paint on both corner pieces. Set aside to dry. See photo:
Meanwhile take out your wood frame. I removed the metal clips on the backside with a pliers in my stash. I smoothed any rough edges using my sanding tool. Then taking my Paint Couture Chalk Style French Rose paint, I applied onto my wood frame and along the sides and inside edge. See photo:
Set your frame aside to dry. Take your sheet of Rice paper. I'll be using several images and Scraps for my project. I chose the vintage lady Rice paper image as my focal point. To tear my rice paper images, I took a small paintbrush and some water. Apply the water around the image you want to use. Carefully tear around your image. See photo:
Continue this process with the images you want to use for this project. Now take your wood frame and you can plan the placement of your Rice paper images. Once you have decided where you want to add your Rice paper images, apply some Modge Podge on the surface of your wood frame. Carefully lay your Rice paper image over the Modge Podge. Apply a light coat of Modge Podge on top. Continue this process until you have applied all your Rice paper images and are satisfied with their placement. Here's some photos:
Take the Vintage lady Rice paper image and center it inside your wood frame.Apply Modge Podge on your canvas surface and carefully apply your Rice paper vintage lady image.
Next I took a palette knife from my stash, and applied the Couture Texture Crust in scattered areas on the edges of my canvas. Let dry. After your Texture Crust has dried, I took a stiff brush from my stash and applied some of the Paint Couture Lux Metallics Antique Gold and Amazon. Let dry. See photos:
Apply Couture Texture Crust on scattered areas on your wood frame and add the same Couture Lux Metallics Antique Gold and Amazon as we did on our canvas. Let dry. Then glue your wood frame to your canvas.using a strong adhesive from your stash. Glue your Resin Swirled corners in place at the top of your canvas. Here's acouple photos:
Set your canvas aside. From my stash, I chose one of the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Savaged Heart pieces and with Mod Podge, I applied some rice paper roses. Let dry. Here's a photo:
From my stash, I glued acouple Prima Flowers and the Salvaged Heart on the bottom left corner of my wood frame. I glued acouple pearls on my flower petals. Taking a piece of lace, I glued at the below the bottom inside edge on my canvas. Then glued 3 Prima Rose gems in place on my lace trim. Here's a closeup look:
On the right lower corner on my wood frame, I glued a key charm. Here's a closeup:
To finish my canvas, I placed some Rice paper scrap pieces around the edges of my canvas, using Modge Podge Glossy as we did in our previous steps.
I hope you enjoyed my Mixed Media project idea and will order a kit today, and start creating your own Masterpiece!
