Mixed Media Flowers
Are you looking to get creative and make a unique piece of art? Let's explore how to create a mixed media piece using torn flowers on a piece of cardboard.
What materials do you need?
To create this mixed media piece, you will need a piece of cardboard as your base. Gather an assortment of patterned papers that you can tear apart, some glue, scissors, and any additional embellishments you may want to add to your artwork.
How do you tear the flowers?
Take each flower and carefully tear it apart into individual petals. You can also tear the flowers into smaller pieces to add texture and dimension to your artwork. Experiment with different tearing techniques to achieve the desired look.
My background is a piece of painted paper that I cut to size and adhered down. I wanted the background to be nice and dry. It was ready to go by the time I tore my petals.
How do you arrange the torn flowers on the cardboard?
Start by laying out your torn flower petals on the cardboard in a design that you find visually appealing. Play around with different arrangements and patterns until you find a composition that you love. Once you are satisfied with the layout, use glue to secure the torn flowers in place.
What additional embellishments can you add?
Get creative with your mixed media piece by adding additional embellishments such as glitter, sequins, or beads. I used the gorgeous Prima Art Pebbles for the centers of my florals. I also spent a bit of time outlining the flowers for a bit of depth.
These extra touches can enhance the overall look of your artwork and make it truly unique. Experiment with different embellishments to see what works best with your torn flower design.
The stencil and the Translucent molding paste added to the effect and created so much interest!
Creating a torn flower mixed media piece on cardboard is a fun and creative way to express yourself through art. Let your imagination run wild and see where your creativity takes you!
