Mixed Media Cards and Chipboard Tag

Hello Craft Friends!

Dana here! Today I will be creating some Mixed Media Cards and Tres Jolie Chipboard Tag. I will share some new techniques to create unique effects to decorate your cards and Chipboard Tags. I hope you'll find them fun and helpful. I will  be using Tres Jolie January Scrapbook kit!

January 2025 Scrapbook Kit

Our Scrapbook kit is filled with gorgeous new papers from 3 Quarter Designs. These papers are great for all your shabby chic/Winter crafty projects. The embellishments were selected to perfectly coordinate with the papers. There are also Tres Jolie Chipboards and Prima flowers to embellish your cards along with

Memory Hardware Antique Cloches and plenty of diecuts and fussy cut elements. Here's a photo of the Scrapbook kit:

From my stash I am using a Brayer, black ink, Prima Marketing Watercolor confections and Metallics, paintbrush, Finnibair Art Stones, rhinestones, Stickles Glitter Diamond, foam dots, Lindy's magicals (from a previous Tres Jolie Mixed Media kit from 2024, Watercolor paper and spray bottle with water.

Card 1: My card base is 5 x 6 & 1/2 inches. I cut a piece of watercolor paper to measure 4 3/4 x 6 & 1/4 inches.

I chose a patterned paper from the kit and cut to measure 4 x 6 & 1/4 inches. I  adhered my patterned paper to my card base. See photo:

Set aside and take your piece of watercolor paper and a clear stamp platform or mat. With my paintbrush and some water I made a color palette using 3 different watercolors. See photo:
With my Brayer, pick up some of the watercolors and using your Brayer, press lightly and apply your watercolors in different directions to create a unique pattern effect.  See photo:

After you are satisfied with your design, take a stamp (The stamp I'm using is from our January Cards Tags and More kit) and some black ink, apply your stamped images in random areas on top of your colored card. See photo:

I wet the tip of my paintbrush then dipped my paintbrush into some Finnibair Sparks paint-Dragon's Eye acrylic paint and with my finger i added some gold specks of paint on top of my watercolor card base.

Once your watercolor card base has dried you can adhere on top of your previous card base, using foam dots to create dimension. See photo:

Next I fussycut out some images from the elements sheet, including the gold plate, sentiment word from one of the border strips. Then I chose a Prima flower and acouple diecut flowers from the kit.

I arranged my Butterflies, and Flowers onto my card front. I glued the sentiment "Daydream" and glued in the center of the gold plate. With foam dots I adhered my sentiment towards the bottom edge. Then taking some 3D gloss gel (my stash) and Finnibair Art Stones i added in scattered places on my card. To finish my card, i applied a few purple Dazzle stickers (from my stash)Here's some finished photos:

Card 2: I cut a patterned paper from the kit to measure 5 & 3/4 x 6 & 1/4 inches. Glue onto your card base. Then cut another patterned paper to measure 4 & 1/4 x 6 inches, add onto previous card layer using foam dots. See photos:

I fussycut out a tiny butterfly from a scrap piece and fussycut some flowers and Lilacs sentiment from the element sheets and typewriter diecut. I also cut a purple lily flower scrap piece from my papers and one of the Antique Cloches. I glued my image behind my Antique Cloche and centered the lily image. I used Glossy Accents from my stash as my adhesive. After this has dried, I trimmed away any excess paper from the Antique Cloche. See photo:

I took the typewriter diecut and with foam dots I adhered on the bottom right corner of my card. I glued the Lilac sentiment above the typewriter on the right side. I glued the tiny butterfly at the top and arranged and glued my fussycut flowers in place. One with foam dots. Here's a photo of my finished card:

Chipboard Tag: The Chipboard Tag I'm using measures 3 & 1/4 x 6 & 1/2 inches. You can find these in the Tres Jolie Shop https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/miscellaneous

Now take out one of the Chipboard Floral/leaves/Swirls piece from Tres Jolie you  can find here: https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/nature

I cut another piece of watercolor paper and took my Lindy's Magical powders, ( colors I chose are listed above)  paintbrush and spray bottle with water. I took each magical color and dipped my paintbrush into the powder and tapped lightly, dispersing each color in random areas on my card base. See photos:

Then holding my spray bottle up high, (i don't want to spray too closely or your powder will blow all over your work area. Add small amounts of water and lift and let your colors run together.  Heat dry slightly.
Then  repeat adding more water. This is fun part and you can create some interesting effects! Keep spraying water until you get your desired results. Then dry throughly and trim your paper to fit onto your chipboard tag. Glue in place. See photo:

Set your tag aside. I took my Tres Jolie chipboard nature piece from the kit, and  fussycut the bird, butterfly,  and sentiment from the element sheet and leftover scrap paper. I also chose a Prima flower from the kit and my Antique Cloche. I took my tiny scissors and cut partly upward between my bird's feathers. Then curled upward to create movement.

Now we can arrange our embellishments on our tag. I cut off the bottom part from my Tres Jolie chipboard piece to fit diagonally on my tag.

Glue in place. I left my chipboard natural but you could add paints, inks, glitter on waxes to color yours if you like. I glued my Antique Cloche onto the upper right edge. I glued a Prima flower onto my chipboard piece towards the bottom, tucked my fussycut bird behind some flower petals. I applied some Stickles Diamond glitter on the birds wings. I curled both ends of my sentiment piece and glued along the bottom edge. I added some pink rhinestones on the very bottom edge of my tag. I tied some purple tulle (my stash) into the hole at the top of my tag and tied into a bow. I glued the butterfly on top! Here's some photos of my finished tag!

Now we are finished with our Cards and Tag! You can make additional cards or tags with all your leftover pieces in this beautiful kit! I hope I've inspired you and you learned some new techniques!
