Mini Shabby Chic Junk Journal

Dana here! Hope you are having a great week so far. Today I'll be creating a fun and shabby chic junk journal! I love creating these and there's so many ways to decorate and embellish. I think our April Cards Tags and More kit is just the perfect kit to use.
In this month's Card Tags and More kit you'll receive Little Birdie Crafts "Shabby Chic Bouquet " 6x6 paper pad with 12 designs 2 of each. From my stash: Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper dolls, piece of cello tape, vellum slide, ephemera, photos, foam dots,film strip, Tres Jolie Black border Tickets https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/borders, bingo card, some miscellaneous paper cut apart journal cards stapler, sticker, enamel dot and tiny tag.
First off we will decorate our front cover of our junk journal. I'll be applying ink on the edges of all my papers, ephemera etc...
I took the junk journal from the kit along with one of the library cards, and a scrap piece of flourish paper. I also fussycut out the Eiffel Tower element piece. See photo:
Take a floral strip and tear on the right edge, applied ink and glued along the left side on the binding. See photo:
Glue your library card onto the front at a slight angle. Tuck the paper florish scrap behind the library card. I added a piece of Tim Holtz cello tape, then fussycut out the Eiffel Tower and with foam dots adhered in the center. I glued a numeral ephemera and tiny photo above my Eiffel Tower image. Then glued one of the small milk caps at the top! Here's how my front cover looks:
Open your junk journal and on the opposite tea stained page 2, I fussycut out a Rose and bird. I glued them on my page. Then taking a stamp from the kit and some black ink (from my stash) i stamped my sentiment on the upper right corner. Note: I left page 1 as is. But you could decorate it or add a photo here if you prefer. Here's a photo:
Page 3: I cut apart the floral ephemera piece in the kit and glued one piece at the top and bottom edges. I stamped another sentiment from the kit between both floral images. See photo:
Page 4 Pocket page: I sealed my pocket with glue. I torn another floral strip and glued onto the front of my pocket. Taking a small scrap of pink roses measuring 3 & 1/8 x 2 & 7/8 inches and another scrap piece I punched a small tab using my punch board (my stash) photo:
I stamped Celebrate Life on my tab and glued at the top of my floral card. Here's a photo:
Next take one of the small kraft tags and a piece of jute cord both in the kit. I knotted the jute cord through the hole on my tag. I covered my tag with a scrap piece and fussycut a leaf and circle roses element. Using foam dots I adhered the circle piece in the center of my tag, glued the left along the bottom edge. I stamped a sentiment at the top of my tag and tucked inside my pocket! Here's acouple photos!
Page 5: I stapled a playing cards on my page, added one of the gold Dresden Butterflies at the bottom left corner and a numeral 5 sticker.
Page 6: I glued one of the ephemera pop out pieces from the Souvenir frame in our kit, then glued it at the top right corner. I added a fussycut leaves and a photo! Here's a closeup photo:
Page 7: I tore another scrap piece from the paper pad then glued on the left side as a side pocket. See photo:
I tore another scrap piece and glued onto another small kraft tag, i added a piece of lace from our kit along the bottom edge. Tied my jute cord through the hole on my tag and added a tiny flower button from my stash. On the opposite page, I glued a photo strip on the left, Tim Holtz Idea-ology film strip on the right side. Then stamped Fearless at the bottom edge. Here's a photo:
Page 9: I left as is. But you can decorate or add a photo here or even a ticket stub or trinket of your choice.
Page 10: I trimmed off the bottom from one of the Guest checks in the kit.(save the bottom piece)
I glued the top piece onto my page. I added some clippings from a restaurant menu I visited while in NYC. My finished pages:
Page 11: I glued one of the Milk caps from the kit and a milk bottle sticker from my stash.
Page 12: I stapled the bottom leftover piece we cut off from the previous guest check, and glued along the bottom edge. I glued some fun vintage cards from my stash above. Here's a photo:
Page 13: I distressed and roughed up the edges from this playing cards in our kit. Then glued at an angle onto my page.
Page 14: I glued another ephemera piece from the kit at the top of my page. I attached a tiny clip from my stash. I glued some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collage strip and stamp from my stash. Here's a photo:
I left the page on the leftside blank.
Page 16: From the paper pad cover sheet, i cut apart the top section with the Shabby Chic Bouquet and birdcage pictured on the front, and other 2 pieces you can set aside for now. See photo:
Take the Shabby Chic piece and staple this to my vellum page. On the backside of my vellum page, I glued the pocket shut, added some lace trim along the pocket edge. I cut two pieces from the cover sheet, and glued the border pieceon the left side, tucked the other piece inside the pocket as well as another ephemera card.
Page 18: I cut apart one ticket from my Tres Jolie chipboard Ticket border. You can find them here: https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/borders
I covered the chipboard ticket with a scrap piece of paper. See photo:
I glued a fussycut rose/leaves and Dresden butterfly on the top. Glue your chipboard ticket on the upper right corner. I fussycut another flower element and tucked it behind my photo. Here's a photo:
Page 20: I glued another playing cards to my page. The opposite page on the left, i left blank. See photo:
Page 21: open the center page and seal your pocket flap with glue. Take the Prescription ephemera circle from the kit, and a paper scrap and attach a small photo to the front. I fussycut out the pocket watch and roses piece. See photo:
Tuck them into your pocket! My finished page!
Skip to page 24: (green lined pocket page) seal pocket with glue. I fussycut out a rose element and glued on the front of my pocket flap. Take one of the library cards in the kit, cut off the bottom half. Add a small photo to the front. See photo:
Slide into your pocket! Here's a photo:
Backside of page 24: with foam dots I adhered a set of Tim Holtz Paperdolls on my page. Opposite vellum page, i sealed my pocket shut. From the element sheet, and circle die from my stash, I diecut 3 circle images. See photo:
Tuck these circles into your pocket and glue a Dresden butterfly at the top of your page. Here's a photo of my finished pages:
Page 27: I cut a floral scrap paper to measure 3 & 3/4 x 2 & 1/2 inches.I tore a rough edges at the top. Then glued on the backside on my vellum page, making sure the floral side shows through the front on tge previous page. I tore another tiny strip and glued onto the front of my pocket flap.
On the backside of my vellum page, i tore a book page piece and glued at the bottom of my page. (Book sheet was from a previous Tres Jolie Kit) you could use anything you have in your stash or another scrap paper from the kit. I glued another collage photo strip at a slight angle on my pocket. Then glue the other gold Dresden butterfly at the top, making sure it's lined up over the gold butterfly on the previous vellum page.
Page 28: I glued a Bingo card and photo from my stash on my page. Here's a photo:
Page 29: I glued Hello ephemera piece from my stash at the top.
Page 30: I glued a bulletin board journal card and stamped "On my list" and date. (Both items in my stash) My finished pages:
Page 31: take your last kraft tag and I glued the tiny playing cards on the front. (Both of these are included in your kit) i did add a few tiny Dazzle heart stickers from my stash at the top of my tag. Knot your jute cord through the hole on your tag.
Page 32: I cut apart another Tres Jolie chipboard Ticket border, see photo:
Applied black ink over the top. Once your ink has dried, I added acouple scrap papers to the backside making sure the images show through the front of my chipboard ticket. Then glue your chipboard ticket to the front pocket flap.(You can find these chipboard ticket borders at the same link I posted above.)
Now take the Souvenir slide ephemera and add a photo to the backside. I added a vellum scene to mine. Tuck this pieceinto the pocket! ( my stash) Here's some photos:
Page 33: blank
Page 34: I tore another floral scrap and glued along the right side. Added a small photo and stamped a sentiment (the stamp set from the kit) my finished page:
Page 35: I stapled a spoon ephemera piece on the left side. (From my stash)
Page 36: taking a element piece with the bird, I tore, inked and stapled at the top of my page. I adhered a stamp 3D sticker at the bottom with foam dots (my stash) and taking another stamp sentiment I stamped along the bottom. Here's a photo:
Page 37: I glued a piece of lace along the pocket edge. I tore another Guest check and added a small tag and enamel dot from my stash, to the front and tucked inside my pocket!
Page 38: From my stash, I folded and scored 1/2inch at the top to create a pull out flip page. Underneath i wrote some Cost of Living grocery items from 1968! Pretty interesting since now we pay so much more for groceries. I glued acouple more of the Milk caps from the kit at the bottom of my page. I think these match my theme perfectly! Here's my finished pages!
Last page: i glued another couple scrap pieces from my stash (cow and Milk advertisement, and a Milk caps from the kit! Here's a look:

April 2025 Mood Board Challenge
Tres Jolie has always hosted a monthly sketch or mood board challenge. So, with that being said, here are the rules.
1. This challenge is still open to everyone.
2. You can create any type of project for the challenge.
3. You MUST say what you were inspired by.
4. You MUST include the twist in your design. This month's theme is GRUNGY TRAVEL.
