Lost in the Darkness Mixed Media Embroidery Hoop Canvas

Hi Craft Friends! I'm Dana and happy to be back and share a home decor project perfect for the Halloween season! To create this project, I'm using the October Mixed Media kit! This kit includes a 8x8 Circle blank canvas, Ranger Distress Mica Sprays 3 pack, Alchemy Art Rice papers,  Tim Holtz Distress Crayons pearlescent pigments and Tres jolie Exclusive chipboard Butterfly/pumpkin face. Don't miss out on ordering your kit early. They do sell out quickly.

From my Stash I will be using a 8 inch embroidery hoop, Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper dolls, Halloween ephemera, chipboard sentiment and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide spray Salvaged Patina, Finnibair Glass glitter in Midnight Blue and Pitch Black, purple tinsel and water mister bottle.

I recommend protecting your work surface with a protective mat or wax paper as I'm doing. You'll be getting messy! Lol

Lay your canvas on your work surface. Remove your Distress Mica Stain sprays from your package. I like to start by spraying alittle water onto my canvas and then randomly add one Distress Mica spray at a time. Creating some drips. I work on one area at a time. Then mix and add colors as you go along. I like to dry each area as I go along using my heat tool.

Next I sprayed Phantom Mist

You can spray water on your mat, spray and smear it with your fingers.

Then lightly press your canvas into the color to create spots of color! Keep adding color till you have the desired results you want.  Just experiment and dont be afraid.  You cant mess it up. Here's how mine looks:

I decided to cut out one of the rice paper images to use as my focal point on my canvas. I used Distress Collage glue to adhere my image onto the center of my canvas. Here's a photo!

Set aside your canvas for now. Next I chose a Tres Jolie chipboard frame https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/frames and covered the top using Finnibair Glass glitter in Midnight Blue and Pitch Black (both from my stash) Let dry.

Glue your chipboard frame over top of your rice paper image. I glued a sentiment on top of my chipboard frame. Using foam dots I adhered acouple Halloween paper dolls and ephemera 31. Here's some closeups!

To finish my project, I glued some purple tinsel around the edge of my embroidery hoop! Now it's all ready to display on your wall!

I hope you'll grab a kit and create your own Spooky Halloween home decor project. Please share with us on our Tres Jolie Cafe Facebook page. We'd love to see your crafty makes!

I'll be back next week with another project to share. Be sure to check back and see more beautiful inspiration and projects from our Tres Jolie Design Team!

Have a Spooky good day!
