Loaded Christmas pocket & Journal Cards Shaker

Hello Crafty Friends!

Christmas is almost here! Can you believe it? Today I am creating a Loaded Christmas pocket holder, along with some journal card pockets, including a Shaker! These are great for swaps or just an extra surprise for a Crafty friend! You could make these for any other holiday or season. I am using the December Tres Jolie Scrapbook kit to create mine.

This Month’s Scrapbook kit has some  Victorian Vintage Christmas 12x12 patterned papers, Matching diecut pieces, a sentiment sheet with journal cards, 2 sticker sheets, Tres Jolie Chipboard Holly and Christmas Bells pieces, 2 metal snowflake seals, Little Birdie flowers along with Holly and Poinsetta flowers! Make sure to grab your kit now before they sell out! Here's a photo of the Scrapbook kit:

In my stash, I am using: 1 vellum sheet, score board and bone folder, Tinsel stems- red, green and gold, evergreen stem, Candy canes, tiny chocolate bars, snowman paper clip, Stickles Glitter Holly, Silver star, sequins, white Cardstock, circle punch, and Gold star embellishment.

Create elegant, nostalgic scrapbook pages with papers and ephemera inspired by the charm of a vintage Christmas.

To start we will be creating our Loaded envelope with pockets.

Take a piece of  paper from the Scrapbook kit and cut 6 & 3/4 x 4 & 3/4 inches. Take another white piece of Cardstock and cut to 7 & 3/4 x 5 & 3/4 inches. This will be the backside. See photo:

Glue your Scrapbook paper on top of the white background piece. Trim all 4 corners as shown below:

Glue on all 4 sides. This will make your holder nice & sturdy. Next cut a patterned paper from the kit ( i chose the polka dot paper) cut to measure 6 & 1/2 x 4 & 1/2 inches. Glue on top of the previous piece. See photo:

Next we will create the larger back pocket. I cut a piece 8 & 1/2 x 4 inches. I used the stripes paper from the kit. Score at 1/2, 1 inch, 7 & 1/2 and 8 inch. Flip and score 1/2 inch on the leftside. See photos:

Cut away the 2 bottom square corners, Fold sides accordian style. Glue both flaps on the holder base. See photos:

Next for medium pocket ( cut 2) 6 x 3 & 1/2, score at 1/2, 1, 1 & 1/2, 4 & 1/2, 5, and 5 & 1/2. Turn and score at 1/2 inch. Cut all 3 squares on each side. Accordian fold as we did before. Repeat for the other piece. I used various patterned papers from the kit. Fold at the bottom. See photos:

Glue your medium pockets on top of the previous pocket.

You can create an additional mini pocket as follows: cut to measure  3 x 2 & 3/4 inches, score at 1/4, 1/2, 2 & 1/2 ,2 & 3/4 inches. Turn and score 1/4 inch. Fold and glue your mini pocket on the right side. See photo:

I took some tinsel stems in gold, green and red and twisted several together. See photo:

I glued as a hanger using hot glued and glued one of the metal snowflake seals in the center.

Now we can start decorating our front pockets. I added a vintage gal sticker on the leftside pocket, glued a silver star on top of the Christmas tree. I added some Stickles Glitter Holly on the tree branches. Let dry. I added a snowman paper clip over the top of my pocket flap. I stuffed acouple small Ephemera cards inside and some tiny chocolates to finish.

Mini pocket: I added another Ephemera cardinal chocolate bars. On the front of my pocket I glued one of the Holly pieces and Red Poinsetta flower!  Here's a close up photo:

In the medium pocket I cut out the postcard image from the paper in the kit, along with the small tag with the Christmas trees. I glued a small red flower at the top of my small tag, added a sticker sentiment. From my stash, I added some Liquid pearls rouge and Stickles Golden Rod glitter on the Christmas ball ornaments. Let dry. Tuck tag into your pocket. I took the postcard and added a vintage gal sticker and sentiment sticker on the front. Tuck inside your pocket. I also tucked a Gold Star embellishment inside. You can add anything you like. Here's acouple photos:

I thought it would be fun to create acouple small journal pocket cards using up leftover journal cards and scraps.

First I chose the journal card with the Bells on it and cut to 3x4 inches. Then I cut a scrap piece of paper from the kit to 4 x 4 & 1/2 inches. See photo:

Lay your 4 inch side on your score board. Score at 1/2, and 3 & 1/2 inches Turn and score another 1/2. See photo:

Diagonally cut top corners, fold on 3 sides to make a pocket.

Lay your journal card inside and fold 3 flaps over top. You can punch a notch at the top if you like. Add glue on sides and along the bottom and attach your journal card on top. See photos:

To make a Shaker journal pocket, I cut out the journal card with the bird, same measurements as before. And cut your vellum sheet to 3x4 inches.

You can add your notch at the top if you like. Glue as we did previously. Using some border strips, I cut 3 pieces and trimmed to fit on all 3 sides. I scored each one at 1/4 down the middle. Then glued in place and trimmed any excess paper. I filled my Shaker pocket with some sequins and glued shut at the top. Let dry throughly so your sequins dont fall out. See photo:

Now we can embellishment the front of each journal pocket! I used some stickers and inside each pocket, I tucked in some tiny Ephemera cards, a candycane and diecut pieces. I did glue the diecut piece at the bottom to make a small pocket on the front and tuck the December 25th diecut inside. Here's a finished photo of how mine turned out.

I think these would be a nice surprise to tuck into a Christmas stocking or package!

I hope you'll try making some to share with friends and family!
