Life is Good Layout

Good Day All,
It's Debbie here sharing with you a beautiful layout you can do with your February Scrapbook Kit. In this layout I share a fun technique that gives your chipboard that cool patina look. We also use some of the flowers, and laser cuts from the kit. I have the links throughout the blog just click on the word and it will take you over to the shop. Below I also have a video tutorial that shares more details on how I created this layout from start to finish.
To start here is the February Scrapbook Kit.
To start off I cut a light blue background from the paper collection measuring 8 x 6 3/4 inches. Then measure up 3/4 inches and find the middle and make a tick mark, slant your ruler from the bottom corner edge of the paper to the tick mark and draw a line on both sides. ***See Photo Below***
Do this for the dark blue green paper as well, that will be the border behind the lt. blue.
Measure up 3/4 inches and find the middle and make a tick mark,

Here is a photo of the what you should have on your pattern paper.
Here is what the banner will look like after you cut the bottom off. Now use this for your template when you cut the back piece which is the border behind this banner.
I just measured out about 1/8 inch out from the edges of this banner for my back mat piece.

Here is the back mat piece adhered behind the lt. blue. I also inked the edges of the lt. blue piece.
Next create the photo mats. I cut one dark blue at 4 3/4 x 3 3/8 inches and
one light peach color at 3 1/8 x 4 5 /8 inches. I adhered them together at a slant.
I then adhered one of the blank frames on top.
Next I gave the gate a little bit of a patina look. I like how it turned out. Here is what I did -
first I went in with the Distress Stain Tarnished Brass all over the gate, dried with heat gun a bit; then added Distress Stain antiqued bronze on top, dried with heat gun. I went over it again with some antique bronze rubbed it in and then used Distress Pain evergreen bough rubbed it in a bit.
Next I cut the gate in half so we have one on each side. Now you can adhere down and decorate how ever you would like.
Here is how I finished up my layout. I love how this turned out. The colors are so vibrant and really bring out the colors in the photo.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope this gave your some inspiration for using the scrapbook kit for this February month. I have the links below for you and don't forget to join our monthly Mood Board for a chance to win a prize.
Happy Crafting,
