"Le Vie Est Belle" Canvas Layout (How To)
Hi Crafty Friends! Jeanne here back this week sharing this canvas I created using this month's Mixed Media and Scrapbook Kits.
I love to combine supplies from kits even past Tres Jolie kits.
I haven't created a canvas before but I thought I would give this a try. I figured it is pretty much like a layout. So here is some steps on how I made this .
I began by gathering up what I might use, next I took some Finnabair Heavy White Gesso and went over the canvas, resin frame and the dragonfly chipboard solid piece, I then set them to air dry.
For this next step you can use anything to decoupage with , I do have napkins and rice paper but I had these decoupage sheets from Deco Art and cut them giving them that "ripped" look. Next I used Americana Deco Art Napkin glue, this is the same as Mod Podge. You can use anything you have to decoupage.
Once my canvas is dry, I put the items I would be using as a focal point, I had cut the two images from the Scrapbook kit , 3 Quarter Designs "Meadow Bouquet" collection. I then took a pencil and lightly added marks where I would be doing my stenciling.
Then I placed some of the items somewhat around the area just to get an idea of how it would look.
I used the Graphite Texture Paste that is included in the Mixed Media kit, with the Prima Marketing "Tubaroses" Stencil ( incase you noticed, I had to use a plastic knife since I broke my palette knife). I stenciled on the bottom part of the canvas then dried it with my heat tool. Next I sprayed on some Lindy's Stamp Gang Glitz Spritz "Scintillating Silver" & " Steel Shimmer"
I set it aside and took the resin frame I had previously gessoed and I mixed up some Finnabair Impasto Paint "Snow White" w/ some Finnabair Liquid Color Fluid from a previous Tres Jolie Kit, went over the entire frame. I love using this Impasto Paint, its so bright!
Once its dry, I put a tiny bit of Stamperia Cerantica "Metallic Black" on my finger and just went over the edges of the frame. I wanted to highlight those edges.
Next I inked the edges of the cut outs from the "Meadow Bouquet" paper using Brutus Monroe "Raven" Detail Ink. I also used Tim Holtz "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink around the paper flowers from the " Meadow Bouquet" elements sheets.
Now I began adhering everything together using Beacon Fabri-Tac , I forgot to mention a little ways back, that when I put my supplies together to get an idea of how I want it to look, I usually take a photo so I can go back and reference how I want it to look. Even though I do sometimes move things around different but it helps me even when I create layouts.
I added some Finnabair Metal Hardware on all four corners of the canvas, I also mixed up some Finnabair Mica Powders "Vintage Roses" with some water and made splatters all around the canvas, I also splattered some Deco Art Media White Shimmer Mister around too. Then I added some Finnabair Art Stones and some Diamond Dust around all of the Prima Marketing flowers and paper flowers. I did add some cheese cloth from the mixed media kit around all of the flowers.
Lastly I took the dragonfly that I had gessoed and I painted it using Finnabair Aqua Rose Acrylic Paint, I took the other dragonfly and painted it using Finnabair Blackberry Acrylic Paint. I dried them using the heat tool and then adhered it on top of the other piece. Last adhering it to the frame.
I really enjoyed creating this canvas, so now that I didn't find it intimidating, I will definitely will be creating more!! I hope that this photo tutorial wasn't too complicated and I hope you will give it a try. I will be back now in March with some fun projects. I am super excited for next month's tutorial! So I hope you will check out everyone's projects as well. I'll be back everyone!! ~Hugs~
