Keep Smiling and Live for the Moment Printer Tray
Hello Craft Friends!
My name is Dana and I'm so happy you are here. Thank you for visiting our Tres Jolie blog!
I love creating Home Decor projects to display in my home or give as a gift. T I day I'll be creating a Printer Tray project using Tres Jolie March Scrapbook kit!
Our Scrapbook kit includes the New Prima Marketing "Serene Petals " 12x12 patterned papers (6 double sided papers) and a sheet of fussycut images, matching Journaling cards (15 total) 1 sticker sheet, Prima flowers 2 packs, a large intricate doily and Tres Jolie chipboard windows, and pendant banner border! Here's a photo of our March Scrapbook kit:
From my stash, I will be using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs, foam tape and dots, Prima crystals, Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint, Cosmic Shimmer Luna Paste Moonlight Pearl, Dew drops Brillance Ink-pearlscent Orchid and Bamboo Leaves, Stickles Stardust glitter, and a Tim Holtz idea-ology tiny paper doll set! The Scallop Circle Printer Tray is from Clear Scraps. See photo:
The Printer Tray does include a acrylic sheet. I won't be using it in my project since I am going add alot of embellishments and chipboards. But you can use the acrylic sheet if you like. They are also great to use as a background base for creating a layout.
To start our project, I removed all my Printer tray pieces. Taking the top Printer Tray piece, and a paintbrush I applied Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint to the top piece. I did apply 2 coats. Let dry. See photo:
After your Tray has dried, I took our my patterned papers and decided which ones I want to use to cover each section of my tray. You can trace and cut to fit behind each section on your Tray. Taking my x-acto knife from my stash, I cut and trimmed away any excess paper from each section on my tray. See photo:
Glue your papers in place. The top 3 sections i covered with the B side pink blotched paper, the middle section I added the bridge paper, and the bottom sections with the wood paper. Here's a photo of how mine looks so far:
Now we are ready to glue all your Printer tray pieces together. I recommend using a strong permanent glue such as Beacon glue. Start gluing from the bottom base up, ending with the top piece.
Next I took the light green border piece and B side light green paper and cut into 3/8 inch strips. I inked the edges and glued these onto the front tray Divider bases. See photos:
Continue until all border pieces are glued in place. Here's a photo:
Set your Printer tray aside for now. Take out your Tres Jolie Chipboard windows. Im using the arched window and 6 pane window with the ledge. On the square chipboard window, I applied Dewdrops Brillance Ink-pearlscent Orchid. On the arched chipboard window, I applied Dewdrops Brillance Bamboo Leaves ink. Let dry. See photo:
Now take the cellophane packaging from your Tres Jolie chipboards. I cut to fit behind each window. Glue and trim. I cut one journal card image to fit behind my square window. Trim off any excess paper. And a fussycut floral image to fit behind the arched chipboard window. Trim. I added some foam tape to the back of each chipboard window, Dont adhere yet.Set them both aside. See photo:
The next steps take some planning. Decide what you want to use, where you want to place your embellishments, and chipboard windows, etc...I like to use a wide variety of embellishments and add some dimension on some items using foam dots or tape. I did quite alot of fussycutting. You can do yours however you like. There's no wrong or right way. Just let your creativity juices flow!
Here's some fussycut images I chose. I don't always use every piece but this way you have them ready to go for future projects! I also chose a Tim Holtz idea-ology paper doll set, pendant flag banner, bow, birdie and birdcage (I glued the little birdie inside the birdcage, and cut out a matching bridge image from one of the papers. See photo:
I cut apart a sentiment phase from one of the Journaling cards, bees, and butterflies.
I play around with my placement of my embellishments before starting to glue in place. I'll explain how i decorated each section below.
Top left corner, I glued my arched chipboard window in place, fussycut this cute tiny bluebird and glued on the window ledge, I added a "love this" and butterfly stickers! Here's a closeup look:
The upper center section of my tray, I took my bone folder from my stash, and curled the bow ends to create movement and interest. I glued my bow at the top! I removed 3 small heart stickers, sprinkled baby powder on the back to remove the stickiness. I added foam dots to the back of the 3 small hearts and adhered 2 of them in the center section below my bow. I also added the love fussycut heart and sticker heart. Here's a photo:
Top right corner section, with foam dots I adhered the birdcage, added a sticker sentiment and the other small heart. I also glued a tiny Prima flower from my stash on the top of my birdcage! Here's a photo:
The middle section i slightly bent the bridge piece and added some foam tape on the back center. This will give dimension and sort of 3 D look. Add glue on both ends. I glued the paper doll gals on the steps, I took some Prima Marketing Flowers from both packages in our kit, and arranged and glued in place on both sides of my bridge. I glued some bees among the flower petals and applied some Cosmic Shimmer Luna Paste Moonlight Pearl onto some of the flower petals. I cut and glued a sentiment above the paper dolls. Here's some closeup photos!
Bottom left corner i took my sentiment phases and added foam dots to the backside and adhered in place. I glued another Prima flower at the bottom. Here's a photo:
Center bottom section, I glued my other Tres Jolie chipboard window centrred. I applied a sticker along the bottom ledge on my window and added a fussycut butterfly on the window pane. I glued another fussycut butterfly and some Prima crystals! Here's a closeup look:
The last section on the lower right corner, i added a Cute and butterfly stickers, and glued the fussycut pendant above. Here's a photo:
To finish my tray, I applied some Stickles Stardust glitter to the butterfly and bees wings! You can add a metal hanger or ribbon to the backside for hanging! Now you can display and enjoy!
