Inspirational Chipboard Shadow Boxes
Hello Craft Friends! August has arrived! Have you seen our new August kits from Tres Jolie? They are beautiful and you'll definitely want to grab a kit or two before they sell out! For my project today, I'll be using both the August Scrapbook kit and a few items in our Mixed Media kit to create three Inspirational Shadow Boxes! The papers in our scrapbook kit this month are from 3 Quarter Designs "Blush Indulgence", Delicate and two packs of beautiful Prima flowers, and chipboards from Tres Jolie. I love the extra element sheets that are included in this paper pack. Some can be punched out and others for fussycutting.
From the August Mixed Media kit, I'll be using these wooden boxes from Relics and Artifacts.
I'll be using some other items from my crafty stash including Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint, Dresden gold trim, Prima crystals, mini pearls, Stickles Stardust glitter, gems and Dazzle stickers, Distress Ink Victorian Velvet.
To begin our project, take your 3 wooden boxes and some Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint. Apply your paint along the front, along the outside edges as well as inside. Don't worry about painting the whole area inside since we'll be covering up with some patterned papers.
Next I chose 2 different patterned papers and 1 large Journaling card, and adhered to the inside of each box. Here are the measurements:
Smallest box: cut paper to measure 5x 3 1/8
Medium box: adhere 4x6 inch journal card
Large box: cut paper to measure 7x 5 & 1/8
To decorate my large shadow box, I took another small journal card, and using a oval diecut in my stash. I diecut the sentiment "You will Forever be my always" inked the edges and applied foam dots onto the back. I glued this pretty Tres Jolie chipboard frame (click here) https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/travel to the inside of my box. Then adhered the circle sentiment piece inside of my chipboard frame. I took one of the pretty pink Prima flowers from this kit and glued over the floral image on the journal card. I fussy cut out this butterfly and glued onto the circle. I added some pearl gems along the edges on my chipboard frame. I added a few crystal gems! Along the outside edge of my shadow box, I adhered some Dresden gold trim. Here's a photo!
Medium shadow box 2: I glued acouple Prima flowers pink and white, inside on the bottom left side. I glued a few pearls in between the flower petals. From the kit I took some leaves and glued behind my flowers. I also adhered a punched out flower from the elements sheet using foam dots. In the upper right corner I glued another swirls/scrolls chipboard piece from Tres Jolie click here: https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/swirls-scrolls I applied some Prima Chalk Ink Pastel Brown (from my stash) to my chipboard swirls piece before gluing inside my box.
I applied some Dazzle sticker gems on the ends of the swirls! Then glued some of the Dresden gold trim along the outside edge of my shadow box. Here's a closeup!
Box 3: I took a Blessed Chipboard sentiment from Tres Jolie click here: https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/titles and glued along the bottom inside edge inside my box. I glued a punched out element flower in the upper left corner and glued another Prima flower on top! The butterfly was another punched out element piece. I bent the wings slightly upward to create movement on my design. Then adhered on the right side. Added acouple crystal gems and Dresden gold trim along the outside edges. Here's a photo!
I hope you enjoyed my project today! Be sure to visit the Tres Jolie shop and pick up a kit or two before they sell out! Look for more inspiration and projects from our other designers!
Until next week, Happy Crafting!
