Infinite, Boundless and Forever 3D Shadow Box
Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here! I hope you have been inspired so far this month and you got a chance to order a kit or two from Tres Jolie. Be sure to order soon. You dont want to miss out.
Today I'll be creating a 3 D Shadow Box using the Tres Jolie September Scrapbook kit! Here's what's included in this month's kit. These brand new papers from Blue Fern Studios "Happenstance " collection. The kit includes matching Ephemera set with 37 pieces and Journaling cards 24 total, lace trim, Tres Jolie Chipboard Butterflies and the new Chipboard Trellis, Prima Marketing Chalk Ink- Vermilion, Finnibair Mechanicals Woodland Leaves, 49 and Market flower pack and Little Birdie flowers. It's a great value and it's great for Scrapbook layouts, Home Decor, Cards and more! Here's a photo of the Scrapbook kit:
From my stash I will be using a 8 & 1/2 x 8 & 1/2 inch Shadow Box some brown moss, eyelash trim, jute cord, Graphic45 Ornate Metal Corners and Brackets, hot glue, Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint and paintbrush, foam dots and photo.
For the base of my project I am using a Shadow Box but you could use any size box, a Canvas or even create a layout. You just need to adjust your measurements when cutting your papers.
To begin I took some Folkart Vintage white acrylic paint and with a paintbrush, I applied my paint to the outside edges, and front frame area. Let dry. See photos:
While my paint is drying, I chose a variety of patterned papers from the kit for decorating the inside, side panels, top, bottom and backside of my shadow box.
Taking the "Occurrence " paper, using the backside with the strips, I cut to the following measurements 2 x 8 & 1/2- 4 strips total. See photos:
Top panel:
Side panel # 1:
Side panel # 2:
Bottom panel:
I inked along the edges of all papers before adhering them, using the Prima Chalk Ink from the kit. Glue your papers in place to the top, bottom and both sides.
Inside of my shadow box I chose "Synchronism" paper and cut to 8 1/2x 8 & 1/2 inches. Glue in place.
On the backside panel I cut to 8 & 1/2 x 8 & 1/2. I cut and pieced together the leftover scraps from the Occurrence paper. See photo:
Using the leftover scraps from the "Synchronism paper and cut same size as we did with the outside panels and adhered my papers.
Set your Shadow box aside for now. Take out the Tres Jolie chipboard Butterflies piece in your kit. From my stash, I applied Versamark Clear ink onto my butterfly chipboard and using Martha Stewart embossing glitters- Tourmaline, Jeweled gold and Turquoise, I sprinkled each embossing glitter onto each butterfly, shake off excess embossing glitter and heat emboss. See photos below:
I glued my Chipboard Butterflies on the right side panel centered. Here's a photo:
Next I fussycut out a bird and dressform piece from the journal cards in the kit. See photo:
I cut a small piece of cardboard from my stash, folded in half and glued to the backside of the dressform piece. See photo:
I took my Graphic45 Ornate Metal Corners and glued them on all 3 corners. I recommend using a permanent study adhesive to attach your metal corners. I hold in place for a few seconds and let these dry overnight.
Now take your shadow box and chose a photo you want to use inside your shadow box. The picture I chose is of my daughter when we were in Puerto Rico. I thought it matched well with my color scheme and background paper. I took some brown moss and glued along the inside bottom. See photo:
I glued my photo inside along the bottom edge. I attached my dressform in the corner and glued the other flap to the inside right corner. I took some of the Prima flowers/leaves and Little Birdie flowers and glued on top of the moss in the left inside corner.
I fussycut out the camera/floral piece from the cardboard insert from the ephemera pack. I also chose some brown jute cord, eyelash trim and flowers to embellish the inside of my shadow box. See photo:
I cut a small strip of lace in our kit and glued across on the right side above my photo.
With foam dots I adhered the camera towards the top and glued a small blue Prima flower on top. I added 3 ephemera sentiment pieces inside using foam dots to create dimension. Here's some finished photos:
On the top of my shadow box I glued my Graphic45 Ornate Metal bracket using a strong permanent adhesive. Let dry throughly. I took one of the Finnibair Mechanicals Woodland Leaves and thread the brown jute cord through the hole and tied onto my bracket. Tied my blue eyelash trim onto the metal bracket. Then glued a Little Birdie flower on top! Here's some closeup photos!
Here's a photo of the backside panel:
Now we are finished with our shadow box project. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did creating it for you! Now you can display and enjoy for years to come!
