Holiday Cheer Printer Tray
Hi Craft Friends!
Today I'm excited to share a Christmas Home Decor project with you. I am using the December Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie! If you haven't created a printer tray before, I encourage you to try making one. They are fun to put together and display year after year.
Our Tres Jolie December Mixed Media Kit includes one wood printer tray, metal knob, Tim Holtz Idea-ology white fringe, clear bottle with mica powder and Woodland tree. Ranger Distress Oxide Spray- walnut stain, Mica powder and chunky glitter! Here's a photo of the Mixed Media Kit:

To decorate this printer tray, I am using various Tim Holtz Idea-ology backdrop paper scraps and some other embellishments, Distress Ink Gathered Twigs, red and white acrylic paint, string, ribbon, Little Birdie bells, Tim Holtz candy canes and peppermint, ephemera, silver metallic Cardstock, gold and green tinsel stems, fake snow tex, enamel balls, and Stickles Glitter Stardust.
You can use any scrap papers and embellishments you have in your crafty stash!
To begin, remove all the wood pieces from your tray including the back piece. Set them aside. Take the top tray frame piece and set on your protected work surface. This will get a bit messy. Spray your top tray frame edges with the Distress Oxide Spray- walnut stain. Let dry. See photos:

After your wood frame has dried, take and glue the frame to your wood base. You can set all your wood pieces inside your frame but don't glue in place yet. If you want you can omit using the wood pieces and just measure and cut your papers to fit inside each window section.

Take out your Christmas tree. Take your clear bottle with the mica powder inside. Add some tap water and shake throughly till mixed. Using a spray nozzle from my stash, or you can use the nozzle from the Oxide Spray. Spray your Christmas Tree. Let dry.

After your tree has dried, I snipped off the wire/wood stem at the bottom.

I save the wood piece for using on a future project. These make great wood slices to embellish any project. I took a scissors and trimmed off the backside of my tree till it lays flat. Taking a pallet knife and some fake snow medium, I applied my snow on scattered branches on my Christmas tree. While wet, I took some of the chunky glitter in the kit, and sprinkled some glitter over the fake snow. I also glued some round balls onto my tree to resemble ornament balls. I added a gold star from my stash, on the top of my tree! See photo:
Let dry.

Next I chose some patterned paper pieces to cover all the wooden pieces and fit into each of the various sections on our printer tray. I am inking all my wood pieces as I go, before adhering in place.
I am starting with the bottom right corner long section. Remove this wood piece from your tray. I covered my piece with some stripes paper. See photo:

Then glue this section in place on your tray.

Continue to cover all your wood pieces with patterned papers and glue onto each section on your printer tray base.
Now I took this cute Candycane Chipboard piece from the Tres Jolie Shop: https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/holidays
I applied some Red and white acrylic paints onto my candy canes Chipboard piece. While the white paint was still wet, I sprinkled some of the glitter in the kit over top. The bow I applied some gold paint. Set aside to dry.

Now we can start adding our embellishments to each section of our printer tray.
Top left Corner section: Here's the paper I cut and trimmed to fit on the wood base.

I took some silver metallic Cardstock and cut to measure 3 & 1/2 x 4 & 1/2 inches. I scored 5/8 of inch on both ends. I added a heart sticker on the top and bottom scored areas on my cooky sheet.

Using a gingerbread diecut i had in my stash, along with red, black and white Cardstock scraps, I diecut all my pieces. See photo:

Glue your pieces in place to create your gingerbread man. Add foam tape to the backside of your cooky sheet, and adhere in place. Then glue your gingerbread man slightly at an angle on your cooky sheet. I added a couple star cookie stickers on each side of my gingerbread man. I also added some sentiment stickers along the bottom edge. These were all in my stash. Use anything you have leftover from other Christmas kits. Here's a photo:

For the 3 middle top sections, I covered them with some Tim Holtz Idea-ology pocket cards.

Glue all 3 sections on your printer tray base.
I added some Stickles Glitter Stardust on the snow scene window at the bottom. I glued the metal knob from the kit, on the center section. Here's a close up photo!

Top right corner: I covered the wood piece with snowflake paper.

Glue in place on your tray. I embellished with some Chipboard sticker pieces, sentiment stickers. I added a little snow tex paste along the bottom edge and a dab of snow on my snowman's head! Here's a photo:

Bottom left corner: I covered the wood piece with plaid patterned paper. With foam dots I adhered my Tres Jolie Chipboard Candycane in the center.
Above my Candycane section, I covered the wood piece with some Poinsetta paper.

I cut some Christmas ribbon and glued onto my Christmas package. Then I took a gift tag from Tim Holtz Idea-ology sticker book, applied some baby powder on the backside so it wouldn't be sticky. I punched a tiny hole and tied some string through the hole and onto my gift box! Here's a photo:

Middle bottom section: I covered my wood piece with Candycane paper. Added some Tim Holtz confectionery pieces on top and some stickers! Here's a finished photo:

For the last section (bottom right corner) I glued my Christmas tree on the bottom right corner. I fussy cut out a couple presents and with foam dots adhered on each side of my Christmas tree! With foam dots I added the December 25th Ephemera piece at the top and some star stickers! Here's a photo:

To finish our tray, I took the White fringe piece from our kit, and sprayed it with Pine Needles spray. After it has dried throughly, crumble it in your hands as I show in my photo:

Taking some gold and green tinsel stems, I twisted several pieces together and hot glued all around my printer tray edges. See photos:

Lastly take your green fringe and glue in 3 pieces along the bottom edge on your printer tray. I added a Little Birdie Bells sticker in the center. (This sticker was from last month's Card kit) See photo:

Now you can add a metal hanger on the backside of your tray as I did. Or use any Christmas ribbon or cord to hang and display your Christmas printer tray! I think this makes a beautiful home decor piece for your home or give as a gift to someone special.
Here's a closer look at my finished project!
