Garden Path Wooden Cigar Box & Accordion Album

Hello Craft Friends!

My name is Dana. Thank you for visiting our Tres Jolie blog today. We appreciate you all. Hope you are having a great summer. I'm here to share my first project for the month of August!

We will be creating a Wooden box that holds an accordian album inside. The Wooden Cigar box i purchased at my local craft store. It measures 8.53 x 8.13 inches.

To create this project I'm using the new Tres Jolie Scrapbook kit and chipboards. This month's Scrapbook kit features Uniquely Creative "Garden Path" 12x12 Collection pack. The papers are double sided and you get 2 of each design, plus lots of fussycut elements and sentiments to use. But there's more, you also receive matching Uniquely Creative diecuts and some pretty Crystal Sticker gems, Prima Marketing Flowers, Pumpkin & Spice florals and Leaves, and decorative trim! Here's a photo of the Scrapbook kit:

This Wooden Cigar box is not only a pretty decorative piece for your coffee table, but it can hold precious photos and memories to treasure forever!

I'll also be using some items from my stash White Acrylic paint, xaco knife, Stickles Glitter Stardust and Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper dolls, jute cord, Distress tool and Distress Ink Gathered Twigs, foam dots, seed beads. You'll also need 5 pieces of cream cardstock 8 x 11 inches.

To begin our project, I removed all the metal hardware and latches. Put them aside for now. I took some white acrylic paint and applied about 1 inch all on the outside edges as well as the inside of my box. Let dry.  See photos:

Next I chose a patterned paper and cut to measure 8 x 7 3/4 inches, glue in place on the top and bottom of your wood box.

Top lid:

Bottom of box:

For the back, front and sides outside of box, I cut leftover scraps of papers. Front and back measuring 1 & 1/2 x 8 inches, mark where your screws are before gluing your paper strips in place. On the sides I cut my scrap papers to measure 1 & 1/2 x 7 & 3/4 inches. Taking an xaco knife, I carefully sliced open on all sides including the front and back. See photo:

Now attach all the hardware in place. See photos:

Set your box aside for now. Take your Tres Jolie Chipboard fence piece in you kit.

I cut in half and you can save the other piece for a future project. Taking some Prima Chalk Ink Pastel Brown (from my stash) I applied the Chalk Ink on my chipboard fence. Let dry.

While your chipboard fence dries, I did some fussycutting. I cut out the journal card "Plant Smiles, and from Green thumb elements sheet I fussycut Green Thumb sentiment, several potted plant images,

boots, garden sign, Butterflies, seed packet and hat. With my Distress tool I roughed up along the edges of my sentiment before gluing towards the top right corner on the front of my box. With foam dots I applied the set of pitted plants above the Green Thumb sentiment. I glued the journal card on the upper left corner, added a small fussycut butterfly and with foam dots, I adhered the garden boots and seed packet. I took several seed beads from my stash and glued close to my seed packet as if they had fallen out. I snipped off one Prima flower and leaf from the floral stem and glued on the left corner of my journal card.

From my stash, I cut a small piece of jute cord and glued onto the backside of my garden arrow sign (I fussycut this from one of the element sheets) Then I hooked the jute cord over one of the fence posts. I adhered my chipboard fence along the bottom left edge on the front of my wood box.  See photo:

I glued the hat on another fence post, along with a butterfly and potted plants along the bottom edge of my fence. The small spouted plant in the pot, I adhered with foam dots next to my fence. Then from my Prima marketing leaves package in the kit, I glued a leaf in the bottom right edge. Here's some closeup photos:

Now open your box, I chose some patterned papers to cover the top lid and bottom inside of my box. I cut both pieces to measure 7 & 1/2 x 7 & 1/4 inches. Glue these in place. See photo:

Set your wood box aside. Now we'll be creating our accordian album. For this you need 5 pieces of cream cardstock 8x 11 inches. Cut them to measure 7 & 1/2 x 11. Lay our cardstock on your score board, with the 11 inch side laying horizontal on your score board. Score at 3 & 3/4 inches. See photo:

Repeat for the remaining cardstock pieces. Now take some adhesive tape (from my stash) I recommend using adhesive tape to assemble your accordian album. Apply your adhesive tape to the 3& 3/4 edge. See photo:

Adhere your cardstock accordian album pages, one flap laying down, next flap up. Continue to adhere all 5 papers. This is how your accordian album will look after attaching all 5 pieces. Adhere the back flap to the inside bottom of your box. See photos:

Now we can start to decorate the inside top lid of your wood box. I took the other Tres Jolie chipboard backgrounds piece, https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard/products/backgrounds. I fussycut out some images and the Welcome to my Garden journal card. See photo:

I snipped off a large sunflower and stem/leaves from my Prima marketing flowers package. I glued on the left side. On the right side I glued my journal card and fussycut shovel. Along the bottom edge I adhered some fussycut pieces with foam dots. Here's acouple closeup photos:

Now we can cover all our accordian album pages with an assortment of patterned papers from the Scrapbook Collection kit. I cut my base papers to measure 7x7 inches, Pocket pages cut to 3 & 3/4 x 7 inches. Photo mats measure 5 x 7 inches.

Page 1: I covered my page with Veggie Patch paper 7x7 inches, glue in place.I  fussycut some vegetables and wheelbarrow see photo:

Using foam dots I adhered my wheelbarrow and veggies along the bottom edge. I applied a few Uniquely Creative Crystals at the top right corner. Here's a photo:

Page 2: open the album towards you. I cut another 6x7 piece from Golden Hour paper and adhered on my album page. I cut out a fussycut sentiment and glued at the top right corner. I added a few Uniquely creative crystal gems scattered at the bottom edge.

Page 3: I cut a photo mat 5x7 inches and glued in the center of my page.  I added a fussycut daisy and applied some Stickles Stardust glitter on the flower petals. Here's a photo:

Page 4: I adhered a 7x7 piece of Happy Place paper. I glued a journal card at the top right corner and a fussycut pail with flowers at the bottom right corner.

Page 5: I covered my album page using the backside of the same paper we used on page 4. I cut a photo mat 3 & 5/8 x 4 inches and glued on the left side. I fussycut some flowers and cut some leaves from my Prima marketing leaves package. See photo:

Then I glued them on the bottom left corner. Added a photo and fussycut sentiment "Flowers" at the top. Here's some closeup photo:

Inside Bottom of my box: i created a pocket measuring 3 & 3/4 x 7 Inches and glue in place. I fussycut a circle image with the sprinkling can and flowers, glued on the left side on the front of my pocket. I fussycut a pendant sentiment and glued on the right side on my front pocket and added a few Uniquely Creative crystal gems at the bottom right corner. I glued some lace trim from my stash along the upper edge of my pocket and tucked a journal card inside my pocket. Here's a photo:

Now turn your box around and we can decorate our back pages. Keep in mind that you don't want to add  bulky embellishments or else your box won't close properly.

Page 6:   I adhered a floral paper 7x7, added a fussycut sentiment from the element sheet. I tore along the edges of my sentiment piece before gluing at the top. I glued a set of Tim Holtz Paperdolls. Here's my finished page:

Page 7:  I created another pocket page, using the border image from the coversheet see photo:

I tucked 3 journal cards inside my pocket, added a few Uniquely Creative Crystals at the top. I glued another Prima marketing leaf on the front of my pocket.

Page 8:: I created a flip page measuring 5 x 6 & 1/2 inches. Score 1/2 inch at the top. Take the trim from the kit and cut a piece measuring 5 inches and glue along the scored edge. I cut out a flag sentiment piece and glued on the right below my trim. I applied some Uniquely Creative Crystals on scattered areas on the left side. You can add a photo underneath your flip page. Here's acouple photos:

Page 9: I made another pocket page with the pink blotted paper at the top and the pink striped along the bottom as a pocket. I glued a piece of trim 7 inches along the edge of my pocket. Tucked a journal card inside, a fussycut sentiment at the top right corner and circle image on the front of my pocket at the bottom right edge.

Page 10(last page) From the Prima flowers package I cut apart one of the sentiment quotes and glued on my page. I glued another Prima marketing leaf on the right corner of my quote. I glued some Tim Holtz Paperdolls along the bottom edge . Here's a photo:
