Framing the Details: Two Unique Card Designs Using the September Card Kit

The September Card Kit featuring Paper Rose’s Ivy & Ink collection is full of dramatic, dark florals, delicate vintage scripts, and versatile ephemera die-cuts. Today, we are sharing two distinct ways to build with this month's components ranging from a quick, clean A6 design to an interactive gatefold pop-up card

Design 1: Classic Layered A6 Card

Our first project highlights how effortless it is to create a polished, balanced layout using simple matting techniques.

To craft this A6 card:

• Background Foundation: Select a subtle newsprint pattern from the Ivy & Ink paper pad to anchor the layout, framed over a warm cream cardstock base.

• Focal Element: Center the ornate oval frame ephemera piece over vertical text strips.

• Sentiment & Detail: Layer a small butterfly accent along with word stickers ("LOVE" and "HELLO FRIEND") at the bottom right of the frame to create a grounded focal point with subtle dimension.

   

  

  Design 2: Interactive Gatefold Pop-Up Card

  If you want to add structural interest to your cardmaking, a gatefold design delivers an engaging surprise for the recipient!

  Key features of this build:

  • Outer Gate Doors: Cut and score black cardstock to fold inward, meeting precisely in the center. Cover the front panels with split floral and script patterned papers.

  • The Interlocking Closure: The framed botanical element is adhered to the left gatefold panel only. When closed, it overlaps the right panel seamlessly, securing the card’s design while keeping the opening mechanism simple.

  • The Inside Pop-Up: Opening the gatefold reveals an inner pop-up mechanism that lifts secondary elements into view, making full use of the dramatic dark floral graphics inside the kit.
