Blossom Shaker Card
Shaker cards have become popular again and the April Cards, Tags and More Kit gives you plenty of opportunity to create some of your own. It comes jam-packed with Tres Jolie’s own chipboard embellishments, an 8 x 8 paper pad and coordinating pieces from Graphic 45, a couple of packages of mini flowers from 49 and Market, a package of sequins and two 12 x 12 acetate sheets, as well as a mini lacy die set.
I began by creating my card with layers of patterned paper, using one of the cut-aparts as my center image and put it aside.
Next, I gave both pieces of the chipboard frame two coats of Color Bloom spray from my stash, allowing it to dry between applications. (I chose to use spray on these pieces because the filigree is so delicate.)
Now to create my shaker piece…
Cut a piece of the acetate slightly larger than you’ll need. Leaving the film on, trace around the edges of the chipboard with an ink pen.
Cut the image out at about 1/8” from the traced line.
With a fine tip, apply the glue around the border of the back untreated side of the chipboard piece, making sure to cover every surface. While the glue is still wet, remove the film from the acetate piece and attach it to the chipboard. Press all around to insure a thorough spread.
Apply glue to the back of the remaining chipboard piece and attach it to the card. Again, press it all around. Add your shaker elements to the center.
Now apply another thin bead of glue around the edge of the piece and attach the top piece, being sure that it sits evenly on the bottom piece.
