Blooming Garden File Folders and Journal
Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here. Do you love gardening? I personally don't have a green thumb but I do love admiring Blooming gardens and decor.
So today we'll be creating a Garden File Holder, file cards and mini journal to store inside your File holder. I had fun creating this and hope it will inspire you. For those who don't garden, this is a great way to store photos.
For this project I'll be using Tres Jolie August Scrapbook kit! The 12x12 Collection pack has some gorgeous Floral/Garden patterned papers from Uniquely Creative from their "Garden Path " collection. You also receive lots of fussycut element sheets to decorate your File holder and File cards. But there's more...Prima flowers and Leaves packs. Uniquely Creative crystal sticker gems, and Tres Jolie Chipboard borders fence and Brick and some Trim! So don't wait! Order your kit today!
From my stash I will be using 2 velco pieces, Stickles Glitter Stardust, small blank journal, foam dots.
To start, we will be creating our File folder Holder. For the base you need to cut 2 total 5x8 inch pieces of patterned papers from the kit. From another coordinating paper cut a 3x8 inch for the spine. Score this at 1/2" & 2 & 1/2 inches. Apply glue to each scored piece (3x8)onto each and attach one on each side of your 5x8 inch piece. See photos:
Here's how yours should look so far:
Inserts: 5 & 1/4 x 8 3/4 inches. Cut 5 total from various patterned papers in the kit. Score 1/2 inch on 3 sides, cut out both bottom corners.
Back piece measures 5 & 1/4 x 8 & 3/4 inches. Fold up the bottom, glue sides together to form a pocket.
Fold and glue as a pocket. Here's a photo:
Repeat this process for all the remaining File cards. Now glue all Inserts inside your file folder. Gluing the bottom flap inside the bottom of your File holder. Attach all file folders. See photo:
Front Closure: From a scrap paper cut to measure 1 & 1/2 x 5,
round corners, add velco underneath closure strap and on front of file holder. See photo:
To decorate the front of my closure flap, I snipped off a flower and leaf/curled wire from the Prima flower stem in your kit. I glued on the front of my closure flap. See photo:
Decorate the front of your File holder. I fussycut out some images from scrap paper Happy Place and small journalcard, see photo:
Glue these onto the front of your File holder using foam dots on the backside of the blue pitcher/flowers. I added a few Uniquely Creative crystal gems in scattered areas on the frontside. Here's a closeup:
Set File holder to the side. Now we are ready to decorate each of our inside file holders and file cards. I did cut out several sentiment tabs from the extra element sheet and glued my tabs at the top of each file folder. Here's a photo:
Pocket Folder #1: Outside front: I fussycut a sprinkling can, small plant, and Flowers sentiment from the various element sheets in your kit.
Glue on the front of your File holder:
File card #1: I cut to measure 6 & 1/2 x 4 & 1/2. Cut all remaining File cards this size. I glued a sentiment pendant at the top and crystal gem on the front. I applied some Stickles Stardust glitter on the flowers and plant leaves. The backside I fussycut a floral image from one of the element sheets and glued in the upper right corner using foam dots. Here's acouple photos:
Pocket File #2: on the front I cut a 4 & 1/2 inch piece of trim and glued on the left side. I fussycut a circle floral image and glued on the top of my trim. I snipped off a Prima flower and leaf and glued in place. I glued a fussycut garden pendant at the top and added some Uniquely Creative Crystals. I applied some glitter on the flower petals using a Clear Sparkle pen from my stash.
Inside pocket card: frontside I glued one of the scrap border papers across the top edge. I fussycut a Daisy and glued on top and added a Uniquely creative crystal gem in the center of my daisy. The backside I left as is. You could add a photo here if you like. Here's some photos:
Pocket File #3: On the front I glued a small journal card on the left side and a sentiment flag above. I applied some Clear sparkle pen glitter on the Daisy flower petals and added a few crystal gems from your kit.
Inside pocket card: I cut a scrap paper and added a few crystal gems. I stapled a journal card on the backside. At the top I fussycut out the garden arrow sign and glued at the top covering up the staple at the top. On the backside I glued a Prima leaf and photo. Here's some photos:
Next take a small blank journal (I bought mine from a Craft store) my journal measures 4 & 1/4 x 8 & 1/4 inches. I covered the front and back with 2 pieces of the black floral paper in your kit. Glue in place.
Now to decorate the front of my journal, I cut my Tres Jolie chipboard fence piece in the kit
You can see all the Tres Jolie Chipboards available here in the shop https://tresjoliekits.com/collections/chipboard
I fussycut out a potted plant, basket and sprinkling can. See photo:
I cut a scrap piece of paper to measure 4 & 1/4 x 3 & 1/4 and glued as a pocket on the front of my journal cover. I took the sprinkling can and hooked it over one of the fence posts. I glued my basket of flowers on the bottom edge and with foam dots I adhered the potted plant. Glue your chipboard fence along the bottom edge on your journal front. I cut and glued a sentiment at the top.See photo:
Now you can store you journal in the center of your Garden File Holder. This would be great to keep a journal log of your garden plants, vegetables and fruit trees. Can add additional photos or gardens you visited on your travels.
Pocket File #4: I fussycut a scrap from the same garden vegetables paper and with foam dots I adhered my piece over the bottom image on my file holder.
File card: I added this fussycut plant/herbs wood stand on the right side and Plants flag sentiment at the top. On the backside I cut out a Circle sentiment and glued in the center. Here's some photos:
Pocket File #5: on the front I glued one of the Prima Marketing leaves, added a few fussycut flowers and Uniquely Creative crystal gems.
File Card: I cut 2 journal cards leaving intact and glued as a pocket. I tucked an additional journal card inside my pocket. Backside using foam dots I adhered a fussycut lemon tree. Here a few photos:
Now we are all finished! I hope you enjoyed my project today. I think these pockets would be great for storing seed packets, postcards from gardens you've visited. Just about anything you want.
