Avec Amour "With Love" Door Hanger
Hello Craft Friends!
My name is Dana and im so happy you joined me on the Tres Jolie Blog! Today i have a fun Mixed Media project to share. I'll be making a Door Hanger project that's easy for any beginner or advanced Mixed Media artist!
I'm using is Tres Jolie March Mixed Media Kit. In the kit you'll receive Little Birdie Crafts Door Hanger that measures 3.7 x 10.2 inches, Hearty Lightweight Modeling clay-black, Prima Marketing "Avec Amour Moulds set, Pink Lux Designs Stardust "Turquoise Waters" and Finnibair Sparks paint-Unicorn Hair acrylic paint. Here's a photo of the kit:
From my stash, I will be using the following products: Prima Marketing "Avec Amour " paper, crystals, and ephemera from this collection, foam tape, Prima flowers, iridescent tinsel trim and Finnibair Sparks paint-Butterfly Spells, waterbrush and paint brush and Stickles Diamond glitter!
To start my project, i will be making our Prima Marketing Moulds with the clay in our kit. Take out your Hearty black clay and Prima Marketing Mould. Work the clay in your hands ( you'll find this clay is very soft and pliable) Fill each mould with clay and pop out each piece and set aside to dry. I let mine dry overnight. See photos:
You can make as many clay shapes as you like for this project. I did make several different styles.
Next take your Finnibair Sparks paint Unicorn Hair and apply onto the clay frame. See photo:
Now take a small amount of the Pink Lux Turquoise Waters powder and with a waterbrush apply in scattered areas on my clay frame. I added some pink accent color with my Finnibair Sparks paint-Butterfly Spells. Set your clay frame aside. Here's a photo:
For the clay bow I applied the Finnibair Sparks Unicorn Hair paint onto the whole surface. See photo:
After the paint has dried, I added some of the Turquoise Waters powder and Pearl Ex Pigment powder from a previous Tres Jolie Mixed Media kit, apply powder on the tiny circles using a waterbrush. See photo:
The tiny Jeweled icons and larger pieces, I applied Finnibair Sparks Unicorn Hair paint and added Turquoise Waters powder after to add more color. I love how the Turquoise Waters creates a nice shimmer. I did make 2 small and 2 larger clay pieces.
On my basket clay piece i painted the bottom of my basket with the Finnibair Sparks Unicorn Hair paint. On the top portion I applied some Turquoise Waters powder and Finnibair Sparks paint-Butterfly Spells paint. Note: i ended up not using the other mould piece pictured below. I will use it on a future project.
Here's a photo:
Set all these clay pieces aside for now. Take your wood Door Hanger, and using a paper from my stash and this paper collection, I traced and cut out my paper. See photo:
I used an xaco knife from my stash to trim away any excess paper from my door hanger. See photo:
Then I glued both papers onto the front and backside of my door hanger. Using a sanding tool (from my stash) you can smooth any rough edges. See photo:
I applied some Finnibair Sparks Unicorn Hair paint along the outside edges on my door hanger. See photo:
Take your clay frame, and add a journal card from this paper collection or you can glue the lady clay icon in the center of your frame. I chose to add a Journaling card to the backside. See photo:
Then I added some foam tape to give it dimension. Don't glue in place yet, until you plan out where you want all your other embellishments to be placed.
Gather any embellishments you have in your stash, along with your clay moulds pieces. Once you have decided where to place everything we can start gluing our embellishments down onto our door hanger. I love adding embellishments on my projects to give it that special touch! Have fun with it. The possibilities are endless!
I glued my clay bow along the top of my door hanger. I chose acouple ephemera pieces (small title frame and sentiment piece from my stash) i added foam tape to the back of the sentiment and adhered over top of my ephemera gold bottom piece. I glued 2 of my smaller jewelry clay mould pieces on each side of my sentiment. Here's a photo:
I adhered my clay frame towards the left side centtered. Here's a closeup look:
On the bottom edge, I added some Prima flowers, tucked a few pearls (my stash) among my flower petals, and a butterfly ephemera piece. I glued my clay basket above my flowers and glued my 2 larger Jeweled icons tucked underneath my flower petals at the bottom. Here's some closeup photos!
I glued some Prima crystals on scattered areas. Then taking my iridescent tinsel trim, I glued along the outside edge of my door hanger! Here's a photo:
Now our Door Hanger is finished and ready to hang and display! I hope you are inspired today and you'll order a kit and start creating your own door hanger to enjoy for years to come!
