Altered Frame with Rae

I'm excited to share my project I made with the January mixed media kit featuring beautiful Prima products, Dina Wakley acrylic paint, and a Tres Jolie frame.  Here's the kit:

And here's what I made:

I started out by gluing the frame to the base, then I added a few coats of the Dina Wakely white acrylic paint.  I love this paint because it is thick and you can you can create different textures with it- brush strokes can easily be seen, and when you add more paint it gives it a real shabby chic texture.  I added a coat of the pink Prima sparks paint, then mixed that paint with the white paint for a softer pink look. Take a look at the texture in this closeup:

Once dry, I added some Prima pink microbeads with some matte gel. I also added some of the microbeads to the flowers and on the inner part of the frame.

For the inset to the frame, I found a pink lace background and used the PicCollage app to add the sentiment: Happy Girls are the Prettiest, a quote from Audrey Hepburn.

I finished off the project by adding a Prima cherub from my stash.
