Adventure is Waiting Mixed Media Wall Decor
Hello Crafty Peeps:
Dana here! I'm back to share a Mixed Media Decor piece using the March Tres Jolie Mixed Media kit! This is a great kit for anyone interested in trying Mixed Media or any advanced artist! This kit has alot of great craft mediums to experiment with, including Stamperia Glamour Gel, Dina Wakley Black Gesso, TCW Stencil Butter, Stamperia Decoupage Rice paper sheets, and Finnibair Mechanicals Vintage Trinkets! You even receive a Prima Vintage Wall Decor base. Here's a photo of this amazing Kit:
I'll be using some items from my craft stash including Clear Scraps Grunge Brick Stencil, Finnibair Gear stamp, spray Bottle, various brushes, palette knife, Heat tool, Modge Podge, Finnibair Steampunk gears.
Before we get started, protect your work surface. Things will get messy. But that's the fun part when creating Mixed media projects! Don't worry or feel intimated. Just let your creativity flow!
Take out your Prima Vintage Wall piece. Now take a paintbrush and apply the Dina Wakley Black Gesso to the top surface of your board. I chose to leave the top, bottom and sides white. But you could cover with the black Gesso if you prefer. Let dry.
Next I took a Grungy Brick Stencil and with masking tape I secured it in place.
Then taking a palette knife and the Stencil Butter cream " Seafoam" included in this kit, I applied the Stencil Butter over the top areas on my stencil. Scrape off any excess Stencil Butter cream and return to your jar.
Carefully lift off your stencil and continue this same process until you have the desired results you want.
Now take your Lindy's Magical powder "Boogie Gold, and a spray bottle with water. Lightly spritz water onto scattered areas on your Deco board. Then taking a small paintbrush and dip a small amount of Magical powder on the end. Sprinkle the powder over the wet areas on your board. You can let some powder drip down on your board. This creates a sparkle and shimmery highlights. Here's how mine looks after adding the Magical powder:
I took my heat tool and dried till set.
Next take your Stamperia Rice sheets from your kit, and cut out several images that you'd like to use. I cut and trimmed one of the clock images to fit inside the smaller Finnibair Mechanicals Vintage Trinkets and glued the clock image inside. Then using Spectrum Noir Glossy Hightlights, I applied on top of my Rice paper clock image. Let dry overnight. This gives a dimensional look like glass.
Next taking some Modge Podge from my stash, I applied my Rice paper images to my Deco board. I added a sentiment at the top and glued my small trinket at the bottom right corner. Here's acouple photos:
I did add acouple Steampunk gears from a previous Tres Jolie Kit last year. To finish I took a Finnibair Stamp in my stash, and using a brayer, I applied some Stamperia Glamour Gel from the kit onto the back of my Stamp. Then I stamped in acouple scattered places on my Deco board. Here's a photo:
I cut out some more Stamperia Rice paper images and with Modge Podge I applied to the sides, top and bottom of my Deco board. Here's some photos:
Now we are finished and it's ready to hang and display!
