Christmas Cards & Bonus "Biscochitos" Cookie Recipe!

Hi Crafty Friends!! Jeanne here back this week with my final project of the month and of the year for Tres Jolie! Also I decided I would create this for this month's Mood Board Challenge which has the twist of  " Holiday Traditions" and this collection definitely is just that! I have loved creating using this December 2022 Scrapbook Kit, the Simple Stories Vintage Christmas Lodge Collection in this kit and after creating (3) projects this month, I still have supplies left for probably a couple more. You are still able to purchase this kit and can save it for next year or better yet, the New Year is coming up and some supplies can be used.
So for this last project I decided I would whip up some last minute Christmas cards. I hope you like these that I came up with.
I have a 12x12 plastic storage case where I store leftover card stock and so I had some pieces of white card stock that I trimmed up a little and ended up with (3) 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 pieces which was perfect!
I then picked out some papers left from the Christmas Gift Tags I made and also from some of the sheets I had left and cut them to size. I did some layering on a couple of the cards, I added ribbon, washi tape on them too. Of course I also added some of the beautiful ephemera, chipboard pieces and stickers from the sticker sheet from the collection.
I have used some Tim Holtz Vintage Distress Ink on some areas of the pattern paper, mainly the edges. I have also added some foam tape on some of them, and I've added some red and green rhinestone pieces from a previous Tres Jolie Christmas Kit.
Again, these cards were easy and fun to put together and are great for those last minute cards you need to get into the mail or take over to your neighbors with some homemade "Biscochitos" which are Spanish for a kind of "biscuit" cookie which are a traditional cookie here where I live in New Mexico. The taste of anise seed or extract, cinnamon and sugar is amazing especially with your morning coffee. Below is a photo of what they look like. Just thought I would let you know this is one of my family's tradition that goes back to my ancestors from Spain. I've included my recipe if you would like to try them! Let me know if you do and if you like them (Which I know you will!)
6 cups sifted flour
3 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
3 tsp Anise Seeds or Extract
If using seeds, put seeds into a small zip lock bag and grind with rolling pin
2 cups (1 lb) Mountain Snow Cap Lard Or If you prefer butter
2 Eggs
1 Cup Sugar
1/4 cup Orange Juice Or Brandy (I use OJ)
Preheat at 350 degrees
Mix dry ingredients except sugar and set aside
Put Lard, Sugar,  Orange Juice & Eggs mix with stand up or electric mixer
Stir this into dry ingredients.
Dough should be a little crumbly, not too much though, put into refrigerator for 30 minutes
Take out and separate into 2-3 balls of dough and knead it for a min or so then you will roll it 1/4th inch thickness, onto a floured surface and you can use any cookie cutter you like.
Baking: Add parchment paper to your baking sheet then add the cut cookie dough. Make sure you only cook about 10 min no longer, or when they are turning golden color. Take them out and let them sit on cookie sheet for 10 min. and do not touch the before the 10 min or they will crumble.
While these are cooling off,  add some sugar (1 cup) and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon into a small dish , this is for "bathing" the cookies after. This means after they have cooled off a little, take each cookie and dunk them in this sugar/cinnamon mixture on both sides. This is the finishing touch to these cookies!
Quick Tips* DO NOT OVER COOK
If you cannot find the lard I have mentioned, you can use shortening but lard makes them taste the best!
I will sometimes not wait the full 10 min to cool before "bathing" them in the sugar/cinnamon mix, I notice this mix sticks onto the cookie better when a little warm.
ENJOY!!!!!
