Tres Jolie Kit Club–March Mixed Media Kit–Birdhouse

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie Kits blog! Today I’ll be sharing a Spring Birdhouse I created using items from this month’s mixed media kit along with items from my stash!

DSC_0001_FRAMED

I created the birdhouse with various brown and tan cardstock sheets and some patterned papers from Friends and Craft O’Clock using Silhouette Store ID# 271046 – “Birdhouse 3D Gable Box” by Snapdragon Snippets (Snapdragon Snippets Assembly Instructions)

Video:

I used the larger circle from from this months kit on the “entrance” of the birdhouse, then used the last of the transparency and flowers from my stash to fill it in! The stick is one from my yard, the brick chipboard is from the kit, and painted with a single layer of the Cafe Au Lait paint. I added some of the metal butterflies to finish things off!

DSC_0005_FRAMED

This photo of the roof shows the watered-down paints that I used to add some extra color to the birdhouse!

DSC_0010_FRAMED

Here at the back of the birdhouse, I arranged some of the chipboard to cover the rear hole from the stick!

More bricks and butterflies on the front!

DSC_0008_FRAMED DSC_0006_FRAMED

I painted the back of the transparency pieces with the Olive Green paint before using gel medium to hold it in place!

March Mixed Media Kit

In addition to items from the kit (*From previous Tres Jolie kits), I also used:

Scotch Advanced Tape Glider; BEST Double-Sided Tape 1/4” & 1/8”; Art Glitter Glue; FabriTac; Spellbinder Tool n One; Silhouette Store ID# 271046 – “Birdhouse 3D Gable Box” by Snapdragon Snippets (Snapdragon Snippets Assembly Instructions); *Friends & Craft O’Clock “Vintage Bison”; *Bazzill “Dark Kraft” Cardstock (x4); Silhouette Cameo 3; Niacapa Cutting Mat; Silhouette Premium Blade; Stick from outside; Krylon Workable Fixatif; Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

Note: All other cardstock was unmarked & I’ve had it so long I can no longer recall manufacturer or how I acquired it! I used 2 sheets of the dark brown and 2 sheets of the light tan. (At least I’m fairly certain, it may have been 3 sheets of the dark brown.)

Mood Board Challenge Book Card

Hello crafty peeps!! This week I’m excited to share with u this Book Card that I created for this month’s Mood Challenge! I absolutely love love this  from Tres Jolie! I decided to create this simple book card.

I had made one of these a few years ago following a tutorial on YouTube.

I used a thick white American Crafts card stock for my base and then used one of the sheets from the scrapbook kit. I used some of the flowers as well.

I used a piece of ephemera from my stash and a super cute vintage girl photo that was given to me by a crafty friend!  I then fussy cut a flower from one of the 12×12 sheets that had a variety of color and size of flowers on it. Lastly I added a piece of cotton ivory lace around the inside border of the card.

I hope that you will check out this tutorial and give it a try. These make such beautiful and fun gifts!! I look forward to seeing what everyone has created for this month’s Mood Board Challenge! Until next month crafty friends!

HUGS,

Timeless Tag/Notecard Folio Set

Hello crafty friends! Today I am back to share another project using the beautiful Card, Tags, & More! I wanted to focus today on using the Finnabair background stamp that came in the kit and of course a few of the embellishments I had left from it as well!!

I absolutely love small stamps because you can incorporate them in larger projects such as layouts, art journaling, etc. But this one I immediately got an idea to create this super cute folio containing 3×3 note cards/envelopes & tags. I had created this a while back when I first started crafting and found that the crafter that I followed the simple tutorial on YouTube has so many other tutorials, ideas that I have gotten my inspiration from since finding her. Here is the link to her channel.

The paper I used for this project is one that I had in my hoard and it is an older Prima collection Time Travelers collection. It’s such a beautiful collection and I knew it would be perfect for this project!

I used some of the Stamperia Rice Papers that I had left from the first 2 projects that I previously used them on. I used some a couple of the Prima Sunrise Sunset Mini Numbers as well.

Other items from the kit that I ended up adding was some of the Train tickets from the kit, those were added to the outside of the mini envelopes. I then cut up some strips from the Tim Holtz Film Roll from the kit and adhered them on the front and outside and inner spine.

As you can see in my photos, I stamped the Prima background stamp from the kit on the front of the 3×3 notecards, I used Ranger embossing ink , embossing powders from Lindy’s Stamp gang.

You might notice I also used some white and clear embossing powders from Crafter’s Companion. I like the way the image from the Prima Marketing stamp turned out looking using those two as well.

I added some tags that came from the paper collection that I used. I added some black cotton lace throughout the inner area and on the tags. I adhered a chipboard piece from the collection with some colored seam binding to wrap around the folio and tie on front.

I hope that you will give this easy to follow tutorial a try! These make super cute gifts , swap idea, happy mail creations, etc. I’m anxious to see what you all created with this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie!! I will be back with my next project next week as I created something fun for this month’s Monthly challenge in which I hope you will join in!!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–March Mixed Media Kit-Canvas

Hey, everyone! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! For my second project this month I created a grung-y canvas using items from this months kit on a canvas I had previously purchased at Dollar Tree!

DSC_0001-FRAMED

This canvas was quick and easy! I had it together in a day (the paint dried rather quickly!) and just set it aside to let the glues and 13@rts Gel Medium from the kit dry! See how I put it all together here!

Video:

With just a few items from my stash, I created a little décor piece in one day! (And I never finish a project in one day!!)

DSC_00011-FRAMED

DSC_0006-FRAMED

DSC_0009-FRAMED

After I coated the canvas in black gesso, I layered some torn pages from an old book and a piece of patterned paper on the canvas then used a palette knife to create the broad strokes of paint. Without adding gesso first, I put a single layer of the same paint on the brick chipboard from the kit.

DSC_0005-FRAMED

After the paint dried I added my transparency piece using the gel medium from the kit.

DSC_0007-FRAMED

Still using the gel medium, I put my flower clusters together, added my butterflies, and fussy cut leaves from parts of the transparency to add to my clusters.

March Mixed Media Kit:

In addition to the March Mixed Media Kit (*From previous Tres Jolie Kits), I used: Book sheets from Memoires Parisiennes Etsy Shop; *Friends & Craft o’Clock – Vintage Bison – #1; Liquitex Clear Gesso; Liquitex Black Gesso; ReneaBouquets Mini Gold Roses; Canvas from Dollar Tree; FabriTac

Tres Jolie Kit Club–March Mixed Media Kit-Paddle

Hey, Everyone! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog!

For my first project this month I am sharing with you what I made using the unfinished paddle from this month’s kit!
DSC_0017_FRAMED

As you can see, I also used the mediums, transparency, butterflies, and one of the frames from the kit to put my board together.
Check out how I did it with this video!

Video:

DSC_0023_FRAMED

I mixed some of the 13@rts Olive Green paint with the 13@rts Gel Medium, both from the kit, and stenciled the mixture on in a few spots.

DSC_0021_FRAMED DSC_0020_FRAMED

The sketched leaves are from the Silhouette store, but you don’t need this specific file to recreate the look! You could hand-draw your own design, use stamps, or fussy cut a nice patterned paper!

DSC_0025_FRAMED

I used a thick layer of the Gel Medium on the frame so it would hold the frame and the stems down. For the leaves that didn’t get caught under the frame, I went back and used some Art Glitter Glue to attach them. I also used little dabs of the Gel Medium to hold on the butterflies!

DSC_0016_FRAMED

I absolutely love how my paddle came out! And it wasn’t overly complicated! I spent more time waiting for things to dry than I did putting together!

I hope you enjoyed this project and that it gave you some ideas of what can be done with this months mixed media kit! Make sure you subscribe to our blog and YouTube Channel so you can always be kept up-to-date on kit releases and sample projects!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–February Sketch Inspiration

Hi All! I’m back with one last project this month! A layout of me using the sketch from this month’s challenge as inspiration!

After coating the papers in gesso, I stamped, stenciled, and inked before adding the embellishments and photo.

My final touch was to cover the photo then use a paintbrush to splatter and drop some “Black Soot” Distress paint on the whole project.

Tres Jolie Kit Club-February Mixed Media Kit-Shutter Stand

Hey, everyone! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie Blog!
Today I’m bringing you my third project using this months Mixed Media Kit, something I don’t have a name for, so I’m just going to call it a shutter stand.

DSC_0032_FRAMED

This project took a bit more work than I had planned, but I love the results! Check out the video to see how it was all done!

Video:

That base may have taken more time than I had originally planned, but I am not sorry with how it came out! If I ever need to make a base like this again, I’ll be more prepared…mostly because it will not be the first attempt!! LOL!

DSC_0036_FRAMED

After my base was put together, the rest of the project went together very quickly! It was just a matter of coating the chipboard in the gold wax and layering everything!

DSC_0039_FRAMED

After all my layers I added some flowers, moss, and texture pebbles that I had left from previous Tres Jolie Kits, and the wicker hearts that came in this months kit!

I hope you enjoyed this project! I’ll see you again next month with projects from the March Mixed Media Kit!

February Mixed Media Kit:

Tres Jolie Kit Club-February 2020 Mixed Media Kit-Heart Explosion Box!

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! For my second project this month I have a Heart Explosion Box, just in time for Valentine’s Day! I used the Creative Embellishments chipboard from the Cards, Tags, & More Kit with my mediums from the Mixed Media Kit! I just loved how the hearts already looked like they were floating away! But the same effect could easily be done with the “Follow Your Heart” chipboard in the Mixed Media Kit!

DSC_0001_FRAMED

Everything here except the box and the sisal (and the glues!) came from a Tres Jolie Kit! Either this month or previous months!

Check out how I did it all in my video:

DSC_0003_FRAMED

DSC_0010_FRAMED

DSC_0011_FRAMED

For the solid parts of the hearts I used some crackle paint and then the two Sparks from this months kit. On the outline, I used the Vintage Gold wax from this month’s kit!

DSC_0006_FRAMED DSC_0005_FRAMED DSC_0002_FRAMED

I used a paintbrush to apply some Glossy Accents to the sisal and then sprinkled the glitter on! I didn’t shake off the extra until I thought all of the pieces were set and dry!

DSC_0007_FRAMED

On the box I used the Sparks paints and the wax from this months kit!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-January Mixed Media Kit-Bees

Hey, everyone! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie Kit Club Blog!!

My second project for this month for the Tres Jolie Kit Club focuses on up-cycling a wooden box, using one of the three stencils, two of the paints, the 49 & Market Vine, and some of the Prima Mélange Art Pebbles found in this months Mixed Media Kit!

DSC_0037-FRAMED

Even though in the beginning I wasn’t completely sure if I’d use the ReneaBouquet Bees from my stash, they were the inspiration for the colors! I really just wanted everything but the flowers to have neutral coloring, so I used the “Ancient Coin” and “Steampunk Copper” Prima Paints from the kit on the box and rice paper (also from my stash) with the stencil.

I painted the top “rim” of the box with the “Ancient Coin” and used the “Steampunk Copper” on the outside and inside edges, as well as creating a texture paste of the paints for the stenciling!

Video:

DSC_0003-FRAMED

I added some of the texture paste stenciling to the outside of the box for texture then painted it with the “Steampunk Copper.”

Here are some close-ups of each of the four compartments so can get a good look at the details!

This little box went together quickly, and I was able to put it all together in a single day! Because Prima paints dry so quickly I was able to time their dry time when I went and had some lunch, and the texture paste I just had to wait for it to be “dry enough.”

The January Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie Kit Club:MM Kit Graphics

In addition to items from the January Mixed Media kit, I used:

ReneaBouquets Bees, 13@rts Magic Powder, Stamperia Rice Paper (DFSA3004), Liquitex Clear Gesso, Liquitex Gloss Super Heavy Gel, FabriTac, JudiKins Diamond Glaze, and Mod Podge Paper Matte

November Tres Jolie Kits – Mixed Media–Pumpkin Stack

Hello everyone! I’m up on the blog today sharing my pumpkin stack that I created as one of my Guest Design Team projects for Tres Jolie Kits, using the November Mixed Media Kit!

27-Framed

I loved the turquoise, Inka-Gold paint from Viva Décor that came in this months kit! It has a nice, smooth paste-like consistency, that can be put on with your finger or a brush straight from the container! Or, you can do as I did, and add some to a misting bottle with some of the Prima® Silver Mica Powder, also found in the November kit, and make your own shimmer-y, glimmer-y mist! I used my homemade mist on the flowers.

Watch me here:

41-Framed

One of my favorite product types in the mixed media world is any type of “crackle” product, so I was more than happy to see the bottle of DecoArt® Media™ Crackle Paint in the November kit, and I couldn’t help but put a nice thick layer on my pumpkin stack after coating it with some clear gesso.

36-Framed

After my crackle paint dried I added some of the turquoise paint, trying to create an Ombre effect on the pumpkins. I then used a mesh/net bag (that the little pumpkins came in) to wrap the stack, using some jute twine at each layer.

29-Framed

I let my homemade mist soak into my flowers some, then, after they were dry, I used some gel medium to attach them to the pumpkin stack.

30-Framed 31-Framed

28-Framed

For the finishing touches I added some sisel fibers for some added texture, and finished them off by brushing on some Glossy Accents and a sprinkling of the glitter from this months kit!
