Rattan Wreath with Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I am sharing my project I made with the mixed media kit, featuring this rattan heart wreath and Prima Marketing liquid watercolors.

Here’s what I came up with:

I started out with using the blue (Bora Bora) watercolor on the wreath. I added a few drops to a spray bottle and added some water. I let each layer dry, and I increasingly added more of the watercolor to get varying shades of blue. Then, I added some of splats of the black watercolor. Lastly, I added some of the wax paste, and some lights from my stash.

Next I added a piece of chipboard from my stash. I painted it with white gesso, then again with the red watercolor. Once dry, I added some clear embossing powder, then added some more of the wax paste from the kit.

I also added some wax paste to a few of the flowers for a frosty look. Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Mixed Media Monday (using the Tag Kit)

Hi everyone, Kim here. Today I am going to be sharing a mixed media canvas I created using the tag kit. I really stepped outside of my comfort zone with this kit.

This month’s card kit features the wooden Julie Nutting dolls and tags. Here is the kit:

So, I have never worked with these before. However, they are great for my niece. I created a canvas for her room. Here is my canvas:

I used the mermaid doll for the canvas. For the mixed media, I used items from past mixed media kits. I used the texture paste, watercolors and seashells from past Tres Jolie Kits (they can be found here).

Here are some close ups of the canvas:

I have never used watercolors on wood, so I learned a few things. Use less water to prevent color bleed. I got a bit of it, but hey I can live with it.  For the skin tone, I used my water color pencils. I think it turned out pretty decent for my first time.

The saying behind the frame is a 3×4 card from the Prima Zella Teal line (from my stash). The color was perfect for this.

For the background, I used the rust effect paste from a past kit in Fantasy. I used the powder blue to cover the canvas, then filled in with the purple and turquoise until I was happy.

The flowers and cheesecloth are from my stash. I filled in the floral cluster with some seashells and the other wooden accessories that came with the doll. I added a few melange pebbles, then lightly dusted over the flowers with the purple rust effects paint and called it done.

“Stunning” Layout with Rae

Happy Saturday, crafty friends!

Today I am sharing a layout I made using the February scrapbook kit. I used some of the Prima Marketing Midnight Garden papers for this layout, I started out by ripping the bottom paper and gluing it to the reddish paper, then I added some stenciling with white crackle paste.

I lined the edges of the ripped paper with flowers. Some of the flowers are from my stash, from the Midnight Garden collection. In the closeup below, you can see the metal feather that came in the kit- I added gold and black embossing powder to it to match the other embossed elements.

Here’s a closeup of the flowers and flourish that I also added some silver ans black embossing powders to.

I matted the photo with other papers from the kit. The chipboard circle is from my stash. I used gold embossing powder for contrast with the silver jewels and crown in the picture. I added some of the Prima Marketing black resin pieces to the picture as well for added interest.

This is me…. by Ginny

This is the last post for January from me….. and for Tres Jolie, at the moment for personal reasons I need more time at home with my family… but I will greatly miss designing for Kim and Tres Jolie Kits and I’m so pleased I was able to help her get this wonderful scrapbook club off the ground. I am sure it will go from strength to strength, the contents of these kits are always so beautiful and well thought out with fabulous coordinating embellishments to go with the papers, all the latest goodies to play with and a whole load of new friends to chat to… what more could you want?
I will still be following all the wonderful creations from the designers and the subscribers… so happy scrapping!!

My layout this time is using the Prima Marketing Lavender Frost papers.

I loved all the papers in this kit so much I’ve been trying to use as many of them as possible, so hense all the layering! All edges heavily distressed as always!
I spritzed some mist on the background with my favourite mist Crème de Rouge from Glimmer Mists.

I added a lace bow from my stash to ‘fill’ out the flower embellishment.

And added the 7 gypsies Ornate Garden Stakes sticking out from the clusters.

The Prima tickets are poked into the clusters too with a selection from all the flower packs in the kit.

I added a bigger piece of pretty lace border into the paper layer border I added down the side of the layout… this is also popped up onto some cardboard to lift of the page, I love adding a little depth to my layouts…
….and I used the vellum printed packaging again that the flowers are stuck onto in their packs… its far to nice to throw out!!

I spritzed some of the mist over the flowers and embellishments at the end.

Life is wonderful by Annie

Hello everyone!  Sharing today my last layout for this month’s kit.  I decided to create a layout with contrasting bright colors.  What I did was pretty simple actually : I teared up some papers and adhered them on the back,  put a coat of clear Gesso on everything and then I used some paints (Mint and Purple).

I cut the chipboard frame from Creative Embellishments in 2 pieces and coloured them with the chalk ink Purple. I placed them on top and on the bottom of my photo.

I added gorgeous Prima flowers, Lavender Frost tickets and the resin hearts included in the kit as a finishing touch.

Here are some close-ups :

Let it Be Layout with Rae

Happy Saturday, crafty friends!

Today I am sharing a layout I made with the January scrapbook kit.

I started out by creating a mixed media background on the 49 and Market paper. I used a new Prima stencil and chalk paste (from my stash). Then I added some gesso over the stenciling and then added some purple watercolor mixture to make the stenciling blend into the background.

I cut up the Prima Lavender Frost page that had a bunch of the ephemera images, and created some layers for under the photo.

I cut apart the Creative Embellishments rose corner chipboard to place under both flower clusters. I used a purple iridescent embossing powder, then added some white and gold embossing powder over the first layer to create the look. I also added the 7 Gypsies Architextures Ornate Garden stakes to each side of the picture. (I had a pack of those in my stash, so I used one of those so I could use two of the same stake.

I added some doily die cuts under each of the flower clusters as well.

New Beginnings by Ginny

Today I’m back with a layout created with the January Scrapbook kit from Tres Jolie Kits. This kit is so pretty, it is definitely one of my favourites! The papers from Prima Marketing and 49& Market are stunning and as for the flowers….. so pretty…. I hope you are all enjoying creating with it!

For this layout I have gone back to the 49& Market papers. I adore the colour tones in these papers.

So here it is….

I used three of the Sweet Reflections papers for this layout, distressing the edges and layering them up, all slightly different sizes.
I added some background stencilling with a stencil and texture paste.

The bunting I strung on bakers twine. I dabbed the Prima Chalk ink on the banners to add splashes of lilac colour to them

These flowers are GORGEOUS! If you only buy one of the flower sets from the Prima Lavender Frost collection it has got to be this set – Misty Nights.
I did fussy cut some flowers from the Awakening paper and add to my flower cluster at the bottom of the layout.

I added a beautiful piece of lace from my stash to add a soft pretty romantic touch to the layout.

I did use some flowers from the other packs of flowers in the kit too to ‘fill’ in.
I dabbed around the outer edges of the 2 background papers with the chalk ink pad.

Day by day by Annie Carignan

Hello friends !

I am sharing today a layout with soft colors. I was in a Scrap Therapie mood! I found this photo of myself from a few years ago that I had forgotten.  I though it was nice and wondered why I hadn’t used it before… Never too late!

I put some ink on the chipboard to put behind my photo.

Coated the background with clear gesso and used a stencil from my stash with Crackle Paste.  I used watercolor on the background just a little to add some color to match the paper.  I cut out some peaces of the different papers included in the kit to put behind the photo along with some of the embellishments.

The kit has such gorgeous flowers from Prima !

Here are some other close-ups :

I just love these resin hearts ! I would put them everywhere !

More gorgeous flowers !! And that flower chipboard…..

The fabric you see behind the photo is from my stash.

Gift ATC’s with Ginny

Hello again!

Today I’m sharing with you my ATC’s created with the Card, Tags and More Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

These were really fun to create with. There are loads of ATC/tags to alter in this kit, one for everyone in your family, perfect as little cute sentiment gifts just to let people know your thinking of them….

I have two sets to show you, a floral Shabby Chic set which incorporated flowers from the January Scrapbook Kit too and another set using just the Cards Tags and More kit, which is more striking to look at.

Lets have a look….

I used one of the large ‘Classic Cards’ Wooden ATC’s for my background base and then used the ‘Lovely Prints’ set layered up over the top.
I used 3 of these, one I left as it was showing the print pattern and the other two I covered with some of the Art Paper.

The large background tag I added some Prima Graphite texture paste stencilling.

I used the 7gypsies adhesive doilies wrapped around the sides of the ATC.
I added some Tim Holtz tissue tape around the ATC too from my stash.

The embellishment clusters used the flowers and resin icons arranged over the ribbon I tied around the ATC.
The scrabble tiles were from my stash as were the druzzy stones.

I attached 2 of the Velvet Trinkets to dangle at the bottom of the tags.

The leaves were from the flowers sets in the Scrapbook Kit.

Now to show you the second set…. shabby chic ATC’s

This set is using the small plain wooden ATC’s which ive lightly brushed over with some gesso.

I used some small cut up pieces of the floral chipboard piece in the Scrapbook kit painted with gesso and built the flowers up over that.

In the background you can see the I have used a roughly torn oblong of Art Paper.
The ATC’s were finished off with a decorative tile and Nuvo Crystal drops.

I used small wooden sentiment titles from my stash to personise them into sweet little messages to gift to dear ones and friends.

The last thing I did to them was to rub over some Prima Opal Magics to the edge of the flowers, wooden title words chippy and the tile.. this adds a little glimmer to the whole thing. This was from a previous kit.

The flowers are a mixture from the Scrapbook kit and the Card Tag and More kit.

Cards, Tags and More Kit:

Prima Marketing – Printery Mulberry Paper 6 x6 paper pad
Prima Marketing Wooden ATC Cards-Lovely Prints
Prima Marketing Wooden ATC Cards – Classic Cards
