Altered Mixed Media Clock

Hello everyone!! This week I am back with this altered Clock that I created using some of the products from the March Cards, Tags, & More Kit.

I had the clock frame base , which is from Prima Marketing Finnabair products that I had in my stash for quite a while. This was the perfect size for what I wanted to create because I do have other brand and size but I felt this one had more space for me to do what I wanted to create on.

Other products I used aside from the March kit, I used products from DecoArt, FolkArt, 13@rts, Tim Holtz, G45, 7 Gypsies, Frank Garcia Memory Hardware.

This project was so much fun and I loved the colors that Kim had chose for the monthly kit! It made my project stand out more and I just kept adding and adding embellishments, I couldn’t stop!

I loved adding the vintage woman & girl paper dolls on the inside! I honestly can’t pick which I like more, that or the flower/gear/clock faces clusters I created on top of the clock and the outer side of it too!

I do hope that you like what I came up with using some of the items from the Cards, Tags, & More Kit March it. I’m excited with this entire kit, and looking forward to sharing the next project too! Till then I hope u come back and check out the rest of my teammates posts! They are super talented and show how to create with the other kits from Tres Jolie! Talk soon!!

Mini Journal Shadow Box

Hey y’all!  Have you ever just needed a fun chunky little art journal but wanted to keep it displayed somewhere that would remind you to create art?  That’s the issue I was faced with.  I wanted a simple little journal that I could create some fun little art journal pages in that would be quick and easy but I wanted to keep it out on display so it needed to be a work of art all on it’s own and fit into my decor and style.

So when I saw the trays in the January mixed media kits I knew one of them was destined for a display box for a little mini art journal that would encourage me to make art.  But I still had to make the journal!  LOL!  So I’ll walk you through my process.

I began with some small squares of watercolor paper and just used masking tape to tape them together accordion style till I was happy with the amount of pages I would have.

I folded them back to back so each page would be something I could create on back and front as I flip through the book.

I then bound the spine with some old gaffers tape that was in my scrap stash.

Next I gave my mini tray from the kit a coat of white gesso

Then rubbed the edges with the “ancient coin” gold metallique acrylic paint by Finnabair from the kit.

I trimmed down the Garden Vine from 49 and Market Paper Goods, removing all the flowers but leaving the leaves.

I rubbed the leaves with glass bead gel and allowed it to dry well.

Next I rubbed the leaves with more of the “ancient coin” gold acrylic paint to reveal the texture.

I bent and glued the reshaped vine into the tray to form the “holder” for my mini journal

I then took a loose piece of the water color paper cut to the same size as the book and applied it with pop dots over the vine to hide where it attaches to the tray.

Finally I placed my book in the tray and twisted the vine over it carefully.

I’m quite pleased with it and can’t wait to create!

Journal page by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone ! I am back today with another page from my journal, made with the beautiful June Kit : Cards, Tags and more…

Once again I took a inspiration card from the May Kit and went from there.  I chose the photos that for me represented family, friends, sisters etc.

I started with a coat of clear Gesso on both sides and let dry.  Then I took the gorgeous stencil included in the kit with the Nuvo paste wow !!! I just love the result !  After everything was dry I started to play with the Stamps from the kit, all over the pages with the Black Distress Ink.  I continued with some Fuchsia Watercolor here and there, sprayed some water, which diluted the Black ink a little, I think it looks great because it gave like a dark Purple color.

I used some of the sticky words from the May Kit as journaling, and with a watercolour pen, I draw lines around the words and the photos.  I did a wash with water  and a brush to create an antique look.

I hope you like what I did 🙂

Here is the kit content :

  1. Prima – 6×9 Stencil – Passiflora
  2. Prima – Art Daily Planner – Vintage Photobooth
  3. Prima – Art Daily Planner – Rusty Metal Clips
  4. Prima – Finnabair Cling Stamp – Old Paper
  5. Nuvo Mousse – Mother of Pearl
  6. Tim Holtz – Mini Distress Ink – Black Soot

Journal spread by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone !

Last week I showed you my Journal Cover, today I am showing my first journal spread.  This page was made with the Cards, Tags and more kit of course !

The 1st thing I did what choosing a card from the kit with the quote number 39 that says :

“Feel inspired by all the colors of the Rainbow. What does your personal rainbow look like ?”

That is when I thought of kids, instantly.  I took my watercolors and started to put some on the left side and with water, I made the colors drop from one side to the other. Like this :

Once the paint was dry, I took different stamps from my stash and put them all over the spread.  I adhered the card I had chosen and added some words from the kit with cute small flowers.

I finished with some journaling about my inspiration :

I hope this will help you to be inspired and just start creating without overthinking it ! Don’t be afraid to just start something and see where it takes you 🙂

Art Journal Cover – May Cards, Tags and more Kit

Hello Hello !!!

This month is really special and different.  I don’t know if you saw Kim’s video revealing this month’s kit but I thought it was such a good idea to create a kit with a Journal that can be used on a long period.

If you want more details of this kit here is the link to the video :

Today I decided I would show you my Journal cover.  To be honest, I was scared at first because I had not touched Journaling for a very long time and I thought the inspiration would never come.  I took a few days to think about it and thought to myself : What inspires you ? What do you like ? What represents YOU ? I used my favorite colors of course 🙂

I went back to my old Art Journals and they really gave me ideas.  I remembered that I always started with a background like tissu paper, or old books or dictionaries.

I took some pages from the Planner Kit and adhered them with Matte Gel.  Once that was dry, I put some Acrylic Paint from my stash (Finnabair Art Alchemy Impasto MINT) using a spatula.  I used a stencil with Nuvo Mousse and the stamp from the Scrapbook Kit.

I used embellishments from previous kits and a lot of flowers from my stash.  I finished off with some words from the Art Daily Planner Sentiments.

Material used :

Prima – Art Daily 58Piece Planner Kit

Prima – Art Daily Planner – Sentiments

Prima – Art Daily Planner –

Metal Bookmarks
