Altered Mixed Media Clock

Hello everyone!! This week I am back with this altered Clock that I created using some of the products from the March Cards, Tags, & More Kit.

I had the clock frame base , which is from Prima Marketing Finnabair products that I had in my stash for quite a while. This was the perfect size for what I wanted to create because I do have other brand and size but I felt this one had more space for me to do what I wanted to create on.

Other products I used aside from the March kit, I used products from DecoArt, FolkArt, 13@rts, Tim Holtz, G45, 7 Gypsies, Frank Garcia Memory Hardware.

This project was so much fun and I loved the colors that Kim had chose for the monthly kit! It made my project stand out more and I just kept adding and adding embellishments, I couldn’t stop!

I loved adding the vintage woman & girl paper dolls on the inside! I honestly can’t pick which I like more, that or the flower/gear/clock faces clusters I created on top of the clock and the outer side of it too!

I do hope that you like what I came up with using some of the items from the Cards, Tags, & More Kit March it. I’m excited with this entire kit, and looking forward to sharing the next project too! Till then I hope u come back and check out the rest of my teammates posts! They are super talented and show how to create with the other kits from Tres Jolie! Talk soon!!

Earring Holder Shadow Box

As some of you all know, in addition to paper crafts and mixed media arts, I am a jewelry designer with a small business.  I am always looking for fun ways to display and showcase jewelry pieces.  And with Valentine’s Day tomorrow, how cute would something like this be to present a pair of earrings to a friend, mother or sister?

This month in the mixed media kit we go that wonderful wooden shutter from Prima Marketing.  I thought and thought on a cool way to use it and I kept coming back to this jewelry display idea.

I love how it’s a great home decor piece that fits in well with the style of my home but it’s functional too…this girl loves a good functional piece!

So I started with a shadow box frame with wings in it that was given to me by a neighbor that was about to throw it out.  I knew it would make a great project so I’ve been hanging on to it for just the right decor piece.

Using the gold prima wax I rubbed the wings to highlight them and give them some great metallic shine.

I also rubbed the edges of the shutters with the gold wax

I painted the heart chipboard with white gesso then a coat of the prima acrylic paint before adding a layer of white crackle paint to tone it down a bit.  Next I finished off the look with a rub of the gold wax.

The Darice flower & mini grapevine heart made the perfect embelishement to put on top.

Inside I wrapped a piece of chickenwire ribbon around the inside and bent around the back before gluing and securing down to the shadow box.

You can see it here being used to display my Valentine earrings.

It really is a fun piece to play with and experiment, you could also place a photo or even a small piece of cork board inside the shutters for a different approach.

Chicken Wire Shadowbox with Rae

Hello there. Today I am sharing my project that I made with the January Mixed Media kit, featuring this 12X12 Chicken Wire Shadowbox, A variety of of paints, including a weathered wood crackle medium, lovely Prima Marketing and Darice flowers, and some gorgeous chipboard elements from Creative Embellishments.

Here’s what I came up with.

I started out by using the purple paint on the wood box. Then I added the crackle medium. Once dry, I added the silver paint which gave the texture of random crackle on the box. Then, I lightly added some more of the purple and silver paints, basically giving it a bit of a dry brushing. Before it dried, I wiped off the paint with a baby wipe, and finished it by adding some purple chalk inks for some variety in color.

Next, I took a piece of the 49 and Market paper from the kit and hand drew a heart to cut out. Then I added some faux stitching with a sewing wheel and black marker. I also added some black lace from my stash around the heart.

Next, I used embossing powders to the chipboard quote and glued it on to the paper. Then I added the flowers from the kit. I had an extra pack of the white Prima Marketing flowers from the kit in my stash, so I used a few from that pack as well.

Lastly, I used embossing powders on the Creative Embellishments chipboard doily, cut it in half, and placed the halves on opposite corners of the shadowbox. I used the remaining purple flowers and a couple of the flowers from the scrapbook kit on the doily pieces.

End result:
