Mixed Media “Trees by Streams of Water”

Happy Wednesday y’all!!  Michelle here, giving you a fun dose of mixed media today!!

Today I’m playing with the awesome Redesign Modeling Material by Redesign by Prima, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray by Ranger & Lindys Magical metallic powder that were in the August mixed media kit.  I also picked out a stamp I liked with a simple, deep cut design to use that would make a good impression.

I started out by taking a good portion of the modeling material and pressing it flat on to a nonstick surface that I knew it would release easily from.  Then  I firmly stamped the rubber stamp into the modeling material.

I allowed the modeling material to dry, you can speed this up a bit with a heat gun but you may need to allow it to dry a few hours to overnight.

Next I sprayed the piece well with the “bundled sage” Distress Oxide Spray and lightly blotted the excess to create a unique effect.

Finally I applied a bit of water to my work surface and then began to dip my wet paint brush in the Lindy’s Magicals gold metallic powder, and then brushing along the edges and high spots of my stamped modeling material …rewetting my brush as needed.

I applied my finished piece on to a prepared mixed media canvas board.

If you would like to recreate the look of this board, I simply applied some texture medium that had a lot of grit to it and added some extra texture pebbles to the edges then painted the entire board black.  After it was dry I brushed on some of the gold Lindy’s magicals kinda like a rich water color, leaving it almost powdery in some spots for extra grit.  I then applied some light sage green acrylic paint to the raised textured areas and tucked some natural moss under my adhered stamped modeling material piece.

I’m pretty smitten with it and I hope you are too!  Hopefully this helps you think a bit out the box on how you can use the mediums included in this month’s amazing mixed media kit!!

“Blessed” Ringed Mini Album

Hello crafty friends!! Today I’m sharing the first project I created using the August Card, Tags, & More kit. This kit came with some beautiful papers, cut outs & my favorite was the gold doilies. The entire kit was beautifully put together and very easy to put together.

If you purchased this kit and have never created a ringed mini album, the one thing I can tell you is that this is the easiest kind of mini album that you can create. I think these are fun to make for any level but most definitely for beginners, this is what I would go with.

Here is the process video of how I created mine. I hope you can get an idea of what I did , it honestly is very easy. Everything that Kim put in this kit makes it that easy. Maybe the only thing that took any kind of work was cutting the chipboard she provided to size,  which you can cut yours to any size you would like. Mine measures 8 1/2 X 8 1/2.

I hope that you like what I came up with this month. If you purchased this kit, please don’t forget to share with us your final project on the Facebook page Tres Jolie Kit Club . Also don’t forget to join in this month’s sketch challenge!

I’ll be back next week with my next project. See Ya then….

Simple , Unique But Beautiful Layout

Hello crafty friends! This week I am back sharing a layout where I have created my own background design for my layout!

I really loved creating this layout using this month’s Cards, Tags & More Kit

You can view a quick process video of how I created this using a few, simple supplies that you most likely have in your crafty stash!!

I began by adhering a 12×12 sheet of light yellow card stock from American Crafts , onto a 12×12 white chipboard sheet. I then trimmed a sheet of white card stock to that yellow one but before adhering it I went along the edges using some of the Tonic Studios Embellishment Nuvo mousse   in Custard cream. I then applied some 13@arts White Gesso from a previous kit onto areas of the card stock for when I add some colors using a shimmer spray from Recollections Simply Pastel Yellow and I also added some Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Spun Sugar. I heat dried it then added some white cheese cloth for some added dimension.

I then added some of the lace from the kit and then I took a couple of sheets from the Simple Stories Vintage Garden District Paper Pad from the kit and tore some of pieces of paper to add onto the edges mainly . Before adhering the torn paper to the layout I went over the edges using one of my favorite products, the Tonic Studios Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Custard Cream color.

I want the frames from the collection to be my main focus on my layout.  Then on back of the frames I had added some light pink card stock from the kit and some pop dots which made it easier for me to add the photos of my grand daughters since I hadn’t printed them and added them right away to my layout.

So that was basically a quick over view of my project! I hope that you liked what I came up with using this month’s kit and also please don’t forget that you still have time to enter the 2 year anniversary challenge going on this month for Tres Jolie Kits!!

Talk to you all soon!! Hope u have a great weekend!!

“I Let Music Take Me Where My Heart Wants To Go” Altered Envelope

Hello crafty friends!! This week I am back to share with you this project using the June Mixed Media Kit from Tres Jolie!

I have created a photo process video to share how I went about creating this beautiful envelope!

This kit comes with a beautiful copper envelope that you can either leave as is or alter it like I did. It makes a stunning home decor piece for your home or as a gift!

This was my 1st time using the Cosmic Shimmer products which were wonderful and easy to create with! Plus I still have a lot of left over product to create more mixed media projects or however else I choose to use them as well as having the Darice white flowers, a chalk board piece and Lindy’s Stamp Gang magicals, left from the kit that I didn’t use to create another fun project!

Here is my process video:

I hope that you like what I created using this month’s mixed media kit! I will be back next week with another project using the Cards, Tags, & more kit!! Until then you can visit the Tres Jolie Blog to check out the rest of the Tres Jolie Designers and their wonderful projects!!

February Sketch Challenge Layout

Hello crafty friends!! I’m back with the February Sketch Challenge project!! I had time to actually join in my 2nd challenge for Tres Jolie. As well as it being a process video on how I created this layout! I have yet to decide on the photo that will be going on it but I’m sure it will be of a grand baby or daughter. You get the idea!! Anyhow here is my layout! I had fun creating this, using my stamps that hadn’t been used it a while! I hope u like what I came up with!

For this layout, I used papers from Heartfelt Creations! I pulled them from my hoard vault and luckily found a background that I felt was similar to the one from the sketch challenge! I also must say that I have really enjoyed creating for these challenges, as I’ve done 2 since being on this Design Team. They really help get your imagination running!

Also used a variety of wooden rubber stamps, some Tim Holtz Stamps , 7 Gypsies stamps, and other non brand named stamps, I used some flowers from 49&Market that were part of the January Scrapbook kit.

Here is my process video I created for a quick look at how simple it is to create a layout even if your just learning like I am. I am not as intimidated anymore and another beneficial thing is that I have also been using my stamps more as well and they are no longer sitting on my shelf & drawers just gathering dust haha! Hope you enjoy my video my friends!!

Hope you will leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my layout and any advice you think that I could benefit now in my layout journey that I’m already enjoying! I Thank You for looking at my last post for this month and I hope you keep your eyes peeled for the amazingly fun projects that I have in store for you in March 2020!!

Valentine Cards Using Cards, Tags & more kit

Hi crafty friends! I’m back today up on the Tres Jolie blog sharing these Valentine cards that I created with the February Cards, Tags, & More Kit , which I love! There is so much that I was able to create with this months kit. So even if you don’t have 12×12 sheets of design paper , I used almost the entire 6×8 paper to create the variety of projects even a 12×12 layout as I did in my previous project or a Loaded Envelope Happy Mail Box w/ embellishments that I created for my 1st project of this month! So don’t limit yourself as to what you can create !

Although I’m sure majority of you all have created cards of all sizes, I just thought you would like to see some of the steps that I did to create my cards . I created 4 cards total, the first one was a  4.5 X 5 which is the “Cupid” card, the “4Hearts” card measures 5×5 and lastly I created a set of 3×3.

I hope that you like what I created this week and feel inspired as well as I get inspired daily by all of you crafty friends! Stay tuned for my upcoming projects and I hope you will enjoy the rest of the design team projects being posted weekly.  Xoxo, Jeanne Rodriguez

Christmas Canvas

Hey y’all and Happy Thursday to ya!  I’ve got a fun Christmas Canvas for you today made with the December Mixed Media kit and the Blue Fern papers we used for the blog hop.  I had so much fun with them I just couldn’t put them down!

I even made y’all a little process video!  Despite a little wonky foggy stuff going on with my lens on the first half of the video, you can see the details on how it all came together.

Take a peek at some close ups below for more detail.

You’ll notice here I used a smaller stretched canvas turned backwards on top of the board canvas that is included in the kit.  This gave me a nice place to create a shadow box effect.  You could tuck all sorts of fun embellishments in there!

I really had fun layering it all and just going nuts with this canvas.  The little “joy” banner was one of my favorite parts I added.  You can see details on it in the video as well.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope this inspired you to create something beautiful today!!

Mixed Media Heart Ornament

Happy Tuesday y’all!  today I’m sharing a project I did with the little wooden heart that was in the November Mixed Media kits.  I have to admit, dispite it’s small size I was intemidated by it for some reason.  I really don’t know why!

The first thing I did was trace the heart onto some corrugated packing paper, cut it out and then apply it on to the heart.  Then I used some sandpaper to distress the edges.

Next I applied some of the Deco Art Crackle Medium to it and allowed it to crackle (you can use a heat or drying tool to help with this).  Once dried I applied some watered down acrylic paint to give it some pops of color.  Then I rubbed on some of the Turquoise Viva Ink Gold Rub.

Then I began to add my Prima Flowers.  I also added a bit of the Turquoise Viva Ink Gold rub to the flowers as well to add some color to them too.

Once I had the flowers all adhered on, I brushed on some matte gel medium to the flowers and sprinkled some of the fine glitter that was included in the kit for a little shine.

Finally I added some metal embellishments from my stash and tucked in some preserved reindeer moss.  I also rubbed that awesome Turquoise Ink Gold on one of the metal embellishments.  It adhered to the metal so well and dried super quick.

I hope you enjoyed!  Thanks for stopping by today!!

Crackle Pumpkin

Hey y’all!  This is Michelle and today is my first official Design Team blog post!!  Woot!!

I’m going to be working with the Mixed Media kit this month and for my first project I got my kit but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with the main elements of the kit just yet.  You know when you get a delish kit in the mail and you are scared to tare into it because it’s so awesome.  Yeah.  That.  *This is not an endorsement to start harding you kit stash!!* LOL  I did end up using the rest of my kit!  LOL

But I was anxious to get started and wanted to play with the amazing art mediums that were in there!  So I reached for my dollar store bag of fall decor that I had just picked up and pulled out this rather bland BRIGHT styrofoam pumpkin and decided to give it some Tres Jolie Mixed Media LOVE!

From there I just went nuts!  After prepping it well (you can see the full details in my process video below) I rubbed it with the Turquoise InkaGold and gave it a coat of the DecoArt crackle paint then layered on a wash of some diluted orange acrylic paint.

I even gave it new life with a fresh new twig stem and some preserved moss from the floral department and topped it with one of the Prima flowers from the kit.  I added a light rub of the InkaGold to the flower as well to brighten it up too.  ANNNND…there is some glitter and mica power sheen sprinkled on there to give it some sparkle like any self respecting fairytale pumpkin should have!

It just doesn’t even look like the same pumpkin!  Y’all go check out the video and see the transformation!

So if you are anxious about ripping into you pretty new kit projects or at the very end of your kit and just have your mediums left to play with, this is a great project for you!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed my first Tres Jolie post!  I think I’m gonna like it here!  (Yes I sang that in my best Annie voice) lol!
