Christmas Canvas

Hey y’all and Happy Thursday to ya!  I’ve got a fun Christmas Canvas for you today made with the December Mixed Media kit and the Blue Fern papers we used for the blog hop.  I had so much fun with them I just couldn’t put them down!

I even made y’all a little process video!  Despite a little wonky foggy stuff going on with my lens on the first half of the video, you can see the details on how it all came together.

Take a peek at some close ups below for more detail.

You’ll notice here I used a smaller stretched canvas turned backwards on top of the board canvas that is included in the kit.  This gave me a nice place to create a shadow box effect.  You could tuck all sorts of fun embellishments in there!

I really had fun layering it all and just going nuts with this canvas.  The little “joy” banner was one of my favorite parts I added.  You can see details on it in the video as well.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope this inspired you to create something beautiful today!!

Mixed Media Heart Ornament

Happy Tuesday y’all!  today I’m sharing a project I did with the little wooden heart that was in the November Mixed Media kits.  I have to admit, dispite it’s small size I was intemidated by it for some reason.  I really don’t know why!

The first thing I did was trace the heart onto some corrugated packing paper, cut it out and then apply it on to the heart.  Then I used some sandpaper to distress the edges.

Next I applied some of the Deco Art Crackle Medium to it and allowed it to crackle (you can use a heat or drying tool to help with this).  Once dried I applied some watered down acrylic paint to give it some pops of color.  Then I rubbed on some of the Turquoise Viva Ink Gold Rub.

Then I began to add my Prima Flowers.  I also added a bit of the Turquoise Viva Ink Gold rub to the flowers as well to add some color to them too.

Once I had the flowers all adhered on, I brushed on some matte gel medium to the flowers and sprinkled some of the fine glitter that was included in the kit for a little shine.

Finally I added some metal embellishments from my stash and tucked in some preserved reindeer moss.  I also rubbed that awesome Turquoise Ink Gold on one of the metal embellishments.  It adhered to the metal so well and dried super quick.

I hope you enjoyed!  Thanks for stopping by today!!

Crackle Pumpkin

Hey y’all!  This is Michelle and today is my first official Design Team blog post!!  Woot!!

I’m going to be working with the Mixed Media kit this month and for my first project I got my kit but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with the main elements of the kit just yet.  You know when you get a delish kit in the mail and you are scared to tare into it because it’s so awesome.  Yeah.  That.  *This is not an endorsement to start harding you kit stash!!* LOL  I did end up using the rest of my kit!  LOL

But I was anxious to get started and wanted to play with the amazing art mediums that were in there!  So I reached for my dollar store bag of fall decor that I had just picked up and pulled out this rather bland BRIGHT styrofoam pumpkin and decided to give it some Tres Jolie Mixed Media LOVE!

From there I just went nuts!  After prepping it well (you can see the full details in my process video below) I rubbed it with the Turquoise InkaGold and gave it a coat of the DecoArt crackle paint then layered on a wash of some diluted orange acrylic paint.

I even gave it new life with a fresh new twig stem and some preserved moss from the floral department and topped it with one of the Prima flowers from the kit.  I added a light rub of the InkaGold to the flower as well to brighten it up too.  ANNNND…there is some glitter and mica power sheen sprinkled on there to give it some sparkle like any self respecting fairytale pumpkin should have!

It just doesn’t even look like the same pumpkin!  Y’all go check out the video and see the transformation!

So if you are anxious about ripping into you pretty new kit projects or at the very end of your kit and just have your mediums left to play with, this is a great project for you!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed my first Tres Jolie post!  I think I’m gonna like it here!  (Yes I sang that in my best Annie voice) lol!

Hello everyone !

I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know that I am leaving Tres Jolie’s Design Team.  I have been creating for the past year and I loved my experience ! Kim is such a generous, kind and talented person ! Thank you Kim for welcoming me in your team !

Thank you to all of you for following me and I hope I helped you develop your creativity !

For my last project, I decide to share a photo tutorial :

I put a coat of clear Gesso on the surface and let it dry.  You can see on the next photo that I used the Kaiser Green Ink with water and put some on the background.

In a previous kit, there was a small stencil in a Prima flower package, so I used it with Modeling Paste :

I used Pink watercolour do add color and splashes.

Here I painted the chipboard with White Gesso and once it was dry, I used a bit of yellow watercolour.

I like to maximize my chipboard pieces so I cut it in 2 :

Here I used some patterned paper and wripped it with my sanding tool.

I finished off with flowers, embellishments and art stones.

Cards, Tags and more October Kit by Annie

Hello everyone !

I am sharing today a different project : I have been doing Project Life since January and I thought it might be fun to do a spread in my album with this month’s Cards, Tags and more kit because I LOVE Fall and I have beautiful past memories of this season.  I just adore this 8×8 paper kit from Prima ! Love all the Fall colours and small details you can cut and use as ephemeras on cards, mini-albums, etc.

So here are my two layouts :

As you can see, I tried to use as many papers as possible because I think they are gorgeous and went perfectly with all my photos! I cut a few pumpkins, butterflies and cute ephemeras to decorate.  I used some of the chipboard leaves that I coloured with the ink included in the kit.

I used a circle punch to add details and some hearts from my stash.  For the words Fall and Friends I used a letter die with papers from the kit.

The Good Life by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone! I am back again with another layout made with beautiful September kit.   There are probably some kits available in the shop ! See link at the end of the post for more details.

OK, so for this one I started with a coat of Gesso because I knew I was going to add colors so you have to put on Clear Gesso if you want to put any kind of Medium, if not the paper will just take all of it in and it will not give good results.

I love the flowers on this paper and I decided I was going to use the Lindy’s spray kind of like a watercolor.  I poured some on a peace of plastic and added a little bit of water and started to paint the flowers on the paper.

I used the stamp and the embossing powder from the Cards, Tags and more kit (which is probably still available in the shop) on the background, it gives a great texture look !

I used the chipboard that I embossed and some of the papers behind the photo,   cut out some words and ephemeras I found on different papers of the kit.

To finish off I used some flowers and embellishments.

Here are some close-ups :

I hope you liked this layout and please share your work with us on the Facebook Page ! see link below 🙂

Carpe Diem by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone ! Here is a new layout with September Scrapbook Kit.

Yes ! another beach layout !

For this background I used a little bit of Clear Gesso before I put Modeling Paste with a stencil from my stash.  I used the stamp all around the layout. I used the spray from the kit on the chipboard also included in the kit.  I cut it in half so i could use it on top and bottom of my photo.  I used flowers and embellishments from the kit and some from my stash too, I wanted Blue on this layout to go with the paper, the chipboard and the photo.

thanks for looking !

Journal Spread with Cards, Tags and more Kit by Annie

Hello everyone !

I am here today to present a Journal Spread I made while I was camping.  I had brought my Journal with me, remember the journal we had in a previous kit ?

Here is the beautiful Cards, Tags and more kit :

Here is the kit content :

Cards, Tags and More Kit:

  2. Ciao Bella – Rice Paper – Romantic Time – Endless Love
  3. Prima – Pretty Pale Flowers – Neutral Beauty
  4. Prima – Pretty Pale Flowers – Sweet Species
  5. Scrapaholics – Chipboard – Ivy vine spray set
  6. Scrapaholics – Chipboard -Leafy Flourish set 2
  7. Creative Embellishments – Chipboard – Mini Frames
  8. Simplicity – Lace
I was inspired by the Rice Paper, I thought it would make a gorgeous  background in my album.  I put a coat of Matt Gel to adhere it on the background.

I adhered peaces of Lace too in the middle also with Gel.

Once the gel was dry, I used some White Gesso mixed with water and did like a wash on the surface.

I glued some frame chipboards and added some crackle paste here and there. If you want more crackle, you have to let it dry.

Here is the final result after I used some watercolor and added flowers.

I cut out the title in one of the patterned paper from the kit :

my best friend by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone!

I have been away for a few weeks on vacation and I am back today with another boy’s layout from the Scrapbook Kit !

A pretty simple layout where I used the stencil with modeling paste on the background after I had coated with clear gesso.  I used some green and blue watercolors once the paste was dry.

I cut out some of the clocks on one of the patterned paper and used them under the photo.  I also used the vellum and the frame from the flower kits. I love that we can use those parts.

I used part of the chipboard from Creative Embellishments at the bottom of the photo. I also used beautiful flowers and embellishments here and there. The title was on one of the papers, I just cut out the words.

Here are some close-ups :

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I will see you soon with another project ! Come and join us on Facebook to enter this month’s challenge ! You can win beautiful prizes 🙂
