Tres Jolie Kit Club – August Cards, Tags, & More Kit

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog!

Today I’m bringing you an album I made using the August 2020 Cards, Tags, & More kit! This kit was aimed towards an album, providing the chipboard and album base pages needed to get you going with the paper & embellishments! And well the kit may have included a set of split rings and the pages were pre-marked for holes, I went a different route and used part of the chipboard to create a hard spine.

Due to technical difficulties with sections of the process video, I decided to just create a walk-through/flip-through of the final album. Check it out!

Video:

I used some White Artisan Cardstock from Country Craft Creations to build my cover and on my photo sleeves because it is a linen cardstock, making it nice and sturdy for creating hinges. To insert the pages, I used some Linen Hinging Tape from LineCo. It’s nice and thin, but because it is linen it will be able to take being used as a hinge! After I had my base put together I started adding in the patterned paper from the kit, then worked my way up to adding in the photo sleeves and card flip-outs. Finally, I added the embellishments I wanted on the inside pages before turning my attention to the cover.

For the cover I used the pearl strips from the kit, spacing them two inches to the center. Finally I created my flower cluster on the front cover and added on of the resin pieces where the seam binding was attached.

Now, how about some photos? I have the front and back covers first, followed by the pages in the order they are in the album.

Some of my flaps close with magnets (from my stash) and some have tie closures using the seam binding found in this months kit!

Here are the measurements for the photo inserts. For reference, “Solid Cardstock” with the circles is the light purple cardstock in my album that I used from my stash, “Patterned Paper” with the circles is the paper from the kit, and the solid rectangles is the white linen cardstock from my stash that have an extra one-half inch for the flips.

I hope you enjoyed this project and that it gave you some ideas of what can be done using the items in this month’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

Mini Tag Books

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing these adorable mini tag books I created using the August Cards, Tags, & More kit. I had the two sheets left from the beautiful papers from Craft O’Clock so thought they would look super cute as mini books you are able to journal in.

This project came together pretty fast , even if you don’t have this exact collection , you can create something similar by making your own tags, using any ephemera you have on hand or are able to print out some as well as sentiments . I used some sticker sentiments from the Finnabair Sentiments Sticker Book from another past Tres Jolie kit.

On one of the sets, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Seedless Preserves around all of the edges of my tags. I used small pop foam dots on the ephemera I added to the tags. For the sentiments, I used some colored/white card stock to back them onto. I also cut some white card stock to add to the back of the tags to add small photos or just use them to journal on.

This paper collection from Craft O’Clock was very beautiful and considering I wasn’t much for purple, I truly loved creating using this month’s Card, Tags, & More kit. I hope that you all use up every last piece of your papers. Even using scraps , you can come up with some great gift ideas.  I thought also of maybe altering an altoid tin to maybe store these tags books in.

The last thing I did was add some of the beautiful seam binding from the kit on one of the tag books and added some twine on the other one. I also added some of the pearls & bling from the kit. *Note: I didn’t post every single photo on here since they would be too many since I used some of the more narrow tags as well. I did share the main photos though. I hope that you like my project this week. Don’t forget there is still time to join in this month’s sketch challenge going on on the Tres Jolie facebook group. Join in you just might win!!

I will see ya all next time!! Hugs, Jeanne

“Blessed” Ringed Mini Album

Hello crafty friends!! Today I’m sharing the first project I created using the August Card, Tags, & More kit. This kit came with some beautiful papers, cut outs & my favorite was the gold doilies. The entire kit was beautifully put together and very easy to put together.

If you purchased this kit and have never created a ringed mini album, the one thing I can tell you is that this is the easiest kind of mini album that you can create. I think these are fun to make for any level but most definitely for beginners, this is what I would go with.

Here is the process video of how I created mine. I hope you can get an idea of what I did , it honestly is very easy. Everything that Kim put in this kit makes it that easy. Maybe the only thing that took any kind of work was cutting the chipboard she provided to size,  which you can cut yours to any size you would like. Mine measures 8 1/2 X 8 1/2.

I hope that you like what I came up with this month. If you purchased this kit, please don’t forget to share with us your final project on the Facebook page Tres Jolie Kit Club . Also don’t forget to join in this month’s sketch challenge!

I’ll be back next week with my next project. See Ya then….

Hugs,

Jeanne

Rustic Shabby Chic Mini Album for Tres Jolie Kits Mood Board Challenge

Hello crafty friends!! This week I am back to share what I created this month for the the July Mood Board Challenge. I used the stunning July Scrapbook Kit which included the papers from Scrapboys “Dream Garden”! This kit was filled with flowers which I love and I am pretty sure I used all of them with the exception of maybe a few blue ones. I always try not to make my mini albums so chunky but that is always a fail! I can’t help it! I hope u like what I have come up with for this challenge! There is still time for YOU to enter as well! So hurry and share with us what you have created for this mood board challenge!

For the base of this album I used one of the premade chipboard albums from Frank Garcia which is a Memory Hardware Album, it measures 5.5 x 7.5. I usually paint the edges of my albums with Antique White Acrylic Paint but lately I love how the Tonic Studios Embellishment Mousse in Chai Latte.

Its a little light so you might not be able to tell but it does give it a little pop of color and shimmer as well.

I then distressed the edges with my Prima Marketing Distress Tool   and I also used some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the edges as well. This gives it a more rustic look rather than just Shabby Chic.

Once I adhered my papers I began adding some Ivory non brand card stock photo mats backed with American Crafts Pink Textured Card stock and I also added some of the 49&Market Sky Stitched Frames that were in the kit. I did end up cutting up some of the tags from a past kit from Tres Jolie that had the perfect color combo to go with this album. I also used a Dusty Attic Chipboard frame that was also from a past kit. But you can use what ever you want to embellish your album if you don’t have these on hand.

I did use some of the cut outs from the “Dream Garden” sheet. I also used up the rest of the Shabby Chic Bugs from Prima Marketing that were also in the scrapbook kit. I also added some of the  Ballerina Liquid Pearls from Ranger on the wings and body of the resin butterfly, these liquid pearls were also a part of the Scrapbook kit.

Here is a quick video where I share the entire album:

I do hope that you find some inspiration from my project as well as from the other Tres Jolie Designers. If you have never made a mini album and feel intimidated to try it, these premade chipboard albums make it SO MUCH EASIER. I hope you will give it a try and share with us!!

See you all in August!! I’m excited to share my projects with you!!

HUGS

“Just Imagine” Mini Junk Journal

Hello again crafty friends!! Well July is already here and I can’t believe how quick the months seem to by going by! I hope that everyone is doing well and staying home and keeping yourselves safe! Well this month I am excited to share the project that I have been looking forward to creating for some time now. As most of you might that this months kit for the Cards, Tags, & More kit is a mini junk journal kit that I helped Kim put together….just helped a little bit! I loved it! Thanks Kim!! Anyhow on to my project!!

I began by cutting the papers from the 8X8 Stamperia “Imagine” paper pad from the kit. I cut the papers to the sizes of canvas pages and as I was creating , I did end up using a couple papers from a vintage stash I had cut and of course I also used some of the music sheets from the kit. I also did some light stitching on some of the pages not all because I am fairly new at sewing.

Once I finished adhering the paper on the pages, I began making my pockets which included some of the music sheets from the kit, I used lace from the kit & on the last page I used on of the ephemera cards from the kit. I created some tuck spots using the larger tickets from the Tim Holtz Tickets included in the kit, I used the smaller ones on some of the coffee/tea dyed journaling papers (as seen in the above right photo & the bottom left photo the larger ticket). I also did some stamping on the journaling papers.

You will also notice on one of the pages I added the envelope onto the page and added the bingo card inside as a journaling spot and adhered one of the music flares onto the envelope. This was the only flip page I created on this album.

I cut out the tiny tags from one of the 8X8 sheets which I absolutely love tiny tags! I did add some in the pockets & tuck spots but the rest I made a quick tiny tag album adhering them with some twine. I also created a small album from some of the cut outs that to me looked like pages from a book, I binded them with the same twine. I used a few of the milk caps and a lot of the ephemera. To be honest I had to stop myself from trying to use up every last piece of supplies from the kit because I started to notice it was getting too chunky!

I have added a short video to share the entire album but I did want to add that on the cover I used the closure that came with the album, I cut it to fit my album and had adhered it before adding my cover and back page. I also fussy cut one of the beautiful mini art dresses that were printed on one of the pages of the paper pad from the kit. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink and I adhered it with some foam tape, I adhered the Gothic Frame and then added this dress. I had cut also some of the beautiful sentiments that were throughout the papers and chose one for the title of my mini junk journal which read ” The creation of beauty is Art”! Lastly I had already added a different lace on the cover but then last week when I went to my doctor appointment my hubby took me over to one of my favorite consignment stores which I was surprised was open, and found some vintage laces so I came home and added one of these instead! I hope u like how it looks!

Well crafty friends, I sure do hope that you liked this mini junk journal that almost doesn’t look too mini by the size lol but I sure loved creating this small piece of art using this fun kit!! So if you haven’t purchased yours yet , head over to the Tres Jolie website before they sell out!! I’ll be back on Friday with another fun project using the July Scrapbook kit!!

Hugs,

Jeanne

Shabby Little Mini Book

Happy Wednesday y’all!!

Now y’all know I like to mix things up a bit!  LOL!  I normally get the mixed media kit but this month I got both the mixed media kit and the scrapbook kit, so this little mini is made with this month’s scrapbook kit.

When I opened up that scrapbook kit and saw those cute stitched frames by 49 & Market I knew I was going to be making this mini!  And the cardstock by AB Studio was just perfectly designed to make these little pages…these pages were all cut from one sheet of cardstock!

I knew they would be perfect to frame up those lovely designs on the AB Studio cardstock!  For this I just cut the cardstock to fit the frames and glued them to the back side of the frames.  I then cut a small strip of scrap card stock and taped it to the back left of each “page” to help form more of an area that could but used as a spine.  More on how I used that additional edge in a bit.

Next I turned my attention to the cover, I added a part of the chipboard chain and gears.  I just cut a portion of the design and I painted it with some of the white crackle paste I had sitting on my desk from the mixed media kit.  Although it didn’t really crackle since I wan’t using it in the way crackle paste should be used to crackle properly, I do like how it looks.  You could absolutely just use whatever white paint you have.  I also inked it with a brown ink pad along the edges before glueing it down.

Here you can see that additional scrap cardstock I used to create a bit of a spine.  I used my standard size hole punch to punch two holes in it (all the way through each sheet) and ran the lace through to form the binding of the book, tying it in the front of the book.

I used the same white crackle paste from the mixed media kit to paint the Darice flowers and sprinkled some gold glitter from one of my previous kits on them.  I also tucked on the the Tim Holtz Timepiece watch faces in there as well after giving it a quick wipe with some white paint.

As you can see the book is not filled just yet, I can’t decide how I want to use it but I couldn’t let the opportunity pass to create it and now it’s made and ready to fill!  It will be a great gift or quick art journal when the mood strikes me!

Thanks for stoping by today!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-June 2020 Sketch Challenge

Hey, all!

Today I’m bringing you the project I did for this month’s sketch challenge (sketch image below the video)! I love A.B. Studio papers, and I almost always think they should be turned into some kind of notebook or journal! Maybe it’s because they are so all so awesome I just want to see them all at once! And with Tres Jolie Kits, I get to see a lot of A.B. Studio!
DSC_0001-FRAMED

I didn’t entirely think up this project on my own, I knew I wanted to do a journal, but I didn’t necessarily want to do a full junk journal. The A.B. Studio Instagram solved my problem when I saw an accordion fold mini album on a post (using the same paper line, none the less)!

Check out my video below!

Original Sketch Mirrored Sketch
sketch Sketch-Mirrored

I used the mirrored sketch as my journal cover, and included the tag and clock elements! Sketches don’t always have to be for layouts!

I’ve included images of the inside of my journal if you’d like to see it closer!

Here’s a little something that I didn’t think of until after the video was done:

Front of paperclips Back of paperclips
PaperClipFront PaperClipBack

I just grabbed up a couple of jumbo paperclips, some of the same burlap I used in the journal, a couple of the typewriter tiles from the kit, and glued them together with some E6000.

I hope you enjoyed this project and that it gave you some ideas of what can be done with this month’s scrapbooking kit! Don’t forget to join our sketch challenge over in the Tres Jolie Kit Club Café!

Paper Bag Gatefold Mini Album

Hello again crafty friends! I hope you all are staying safe & staying home to help in the efforts to prevent this Covid-19 virus from spreading that way we can all have a wonderful summer!

As I may have mentioned last week, this week I would be creating a project that would have a tutorial so I am excited to share with you this project that I came up with! I love creating memory keeping, in any way I possibly can. I have made a paper bag mini in the past but this time I wanted it to be a little different this time around. I do hope that you will like what I came up with!

Of course I used the Cards, Tags, & More Kit for April which came with the amazingly beautiful papers by Ciao Bella called Sicilia . I love creating with these papers because you have such a wide variety of papers, entire sheets with tags/cutouts and MORE!

This album has so many areas for photos, differerent sizes and there is additional areas, inside the pages where the actual “paper bag” opens, for adding more mats there as well!

For additional photos and the process I did to create this album, check out my short , easy video!

I hope that you enjoyed this project just as much as I enjoyed creating it for you all!! Again, I hope that you all keep staying safe & staying home! WE CAN BEAT THIS! I also hope that you all have a Blessed Easter with whoever you are able to be with for this wonderful day! I’ll be back again next week with another fun project!!
