“Untitled” Layout

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing an untitled vintage layout created with the October 2020 scrapbook kit. The papers from Blue Fern Studios  have a great vintage feel to them. I’m really loving with this kit.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

How about some close-ups:

I created several layers of different sizes using 3 different sheets of paper. I ripped the edges slightly. The chipboard frame from the kit was covered in clear gesso (this helps the embossing ink adhere), then painted with the mist from the mixed media kit. I love the way it turned out.

Here you can see a better look at the chipboard. I used the same technique on the chipboard butterfly (except I used 2 colors), then added some stickles (from the mixed media kit) for shimmer. I added some trim (from my stash) as layers under my photo. I love how they make the photo pop. You can see a bit of the stenciling I did on the bottom layer of paper.

Here is one of the floral clusters (all flowers are from the kit), the tickets were fussy cut from the ephemera that come in the kit. The chipboard leaves (from my stash) got more of the same treatment as the other chipboard. It really shines under the flowers.

“I was quiet….” October Sketch Challenge Layout

Hello crafty friends! This week I come to you with my sketch challenge layout for October 2020. I really love this beautiful paper line and I knew it would go perfect with a photo of my beautiful daughter Destinee who is my only daughter and the oldest of my children. This paper collection from Blue Fern Studios Jane’s Memoris  which is in the Scrapbook Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

This project was pretty quick coming together because the paper I used is so beautifully detailed that I didn’t want to cover to take anything away from it. I had thought of adding some stenciling but I honestly backed away last minute. Here is some photos of the steps I took to create this!

I began by picking out which paper from the collection I would use from this Blue Fern Studios Jane’s Memoirs collection. I also like using 12×12 sheet of chipboard to back my layout this way it keeps sturdy even if I was to spray inks, water, stenciling, stamping , etc. I added some non brand double sided tape onto the chipboard, I then used Tim Holtz Distress Stain Ground Espresso along the edges of the paper I chose. I then took off the paper off of the double sided tape using my Tim Holtz Retractable Craft Pick . Once I added my paper, I went over it using my We R Memory Keepers Large Bone Folder.

I then set my layout aside and picked out my photo and frame for my layout. I absolutely love the chipboard frames from Creative Embellishments that was included in this month’s Scrapbook Kit!! I used Ranger Embossing Ink Dauber on the chipboard then added some Lindy’s Stamp gang Embossing Powder Silence Is Golden, I believe it was from a past Tres Jolie Kit. I then let it cool and adhered my photo onto the frame using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever which has a great hold. I then used some scrap chipboard or card board on the back of my photo for dimension and used the same glue to adhere it to the paper. I then began adding the flowers that came in the kit as well as flowers from past kits as well. I used the same glue to adhere everything on this project. The flowers are beautiful 49 & Market flowers , Country Bloom (Punch) & Enchanted Petals (Parchment).

la

I also used some the lace from the Scrapbook Kit as well on my layout with a small flower cluster. For that super cute quote that is on my layout which reads ” I was quiet…..but I was not blind-Jane Austen” I cut it from the Bits-N-Bobs Pack also from the kit. I then used the same Distress Stain that I inked the edge of my paper on this small quote I cut. I then used some dimensional dots to adhere it onto my layout. I lastly added a few pearls from Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Pearls IV Pink Passion around my layout.

I finished with this layout pretty quick as I mentioned before that this paper collection has so much detail in it that you don’t need to add to much embellishing to it. So it came together pretty quick! I hope that you will join up in the challenge! You have till the end of the month to do so! Thanks so much for taking time to read my post! I hope you feel inspired to great beautiful things! xoxo

Hugs,

Jeanne

Less Perfection Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, crafty people!

I am sharing another layout that I made with the October scrapbook kit.  The beautiful shabby chic Blue Fern Studios papers from the Jane’s Memoirs collection have to be one of my favorite collections ever.  I love the colors, especially the dark accents of brown.  This piece of paper with the script images really got me thinking about how a sepia tone picture would look amazing with it, and  I was right!  Here’s what I came up with: For this layout I treated all of the layers by heavily distressing the edges, and soaking the edges in water, then I dipped the edges in a cup of the Nuvo spray in Cocoa Powder from the mixed media kit.  You can see that the Nuvo spray has lots of mica that makes the edges shiny, but only the brown color seeps into the paper fibers, creating a vignette effect.

I cut up several of the images from the “Calling Cards” sheet of paper and layered them. I also sprayed the Creative Embellishments decorative oval frame (the larger one from the kit).  In the closeup below, you can see the silver mica from the spray show up on the chipboard piece.
I had bits of lace left from my other projects, so I cut it up in smaller pieces and stuck them in between the paper layers. The title is from my stash (Prima Marketing), and I added some white gold and rose gold waxes to it so it would blend into the layout a bit.
For the flowers, I added a couple from my stash, and I inked them with brown chalk ink, also to blend the tones of the layout. Here’s another closeup that captures the beauty of the edges of the paper:Thanks for stopping by the blog!

“Dream” Sketch Challenge Inspiration

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing a vintage layout created with the October 2020 scrapbook kit. The papers from Blue Fern Studios are so stunningly gorgeous. I’m really loving with this kit.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

This layout is based on the October sketch.

Here is the sketch:

How about some close-ups:

First of all, I flipped the sketch to make it work for this photo. The background sheet already looks like it has torn paper on it, so I just tore a border from another sheet and used it behind my photo. I added a doily as another layer behind my photo.

Both chipboard pieces got the same treatment, just with different colors. I used some liquid pearls to cover them and while still wet I sprinkled on some embossing powder, then heat set them. I love the texture this creates.

The floral cluster has flowers from 2 of the packs included in the kit (the leaves are from my stash). Also include in the cluster is lace from the kit. The key and tickets are fussy cut from the bis-n-bobs cards. I added some foam tape to give them some dimension.

the cluster on this side is fussy cut elements again from the bis-n-bobs cards. I also added a couple of small flowers and lace from the kit and a vintage button from my stash.

Steampunk layout

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing a steampunk layout created with the September 2020 scrapbook kit. The papers from Scrapboys are amazing and have kind of a steampunk feel. I’m really loving with this kit.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

This is the second layout I created based on the September mood board.

Here is the mood board:

How about some close-ups:

I created several layers of different sizes using 3 different sheets of paper. I distressed the edges slightly. The chipboard piece from the kit was covered in clear gesso (this helps the embossing ink adhere), then embossing ink and a tw0-toned embossing powder and heat set. I love the way it turned out.

Here you can see where I used 2 different size doilies (from my stash) as layers under my photo. I love how they make the photo pop. I think the mask was a great little touch.

Here is the floral cluster (all flowers are from the kit), the key is a nice touch. You can see more of the embossed chipboard here as well. It really shines under the flowers..

“Be Authentic” Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, fellow crafters!

By now you’ve seen our September scrapbook features the gorgeous Industrial Romance collection by Scrapboys- I’m so in love with it! (So much so, I just had to buy another kit because I have several projects I want to make with this wonderful paper and all the gorgeous embellishments Kim has included!  Here’s my second project I have made with the September kit:

I have wanted to scrap a picture of this amazing sculpture by Penny Hardy from her Blown Away series.  Hardy uses old machine parts as the base for her sculptures and I think they can be perfectly showcased the September kit!

I started the base of this layout with three background papers for layers- I used a Martha Stewart “punch around the page” punch for the scalloped look for the top large layer.  The used a black journaling pen on the little holes for a faux stitch look.

The other layers are banners that I cut by hand.  (I could really use some banner dies. 🙂 )  I also used some of the Prima ATC cards from the mixed media kit.

There are three pieces of chipboard on this layout, and they were all “treated” differently.  The clock is Dusty Attic (from my stash)- I inked it with archival black ink and randomly applied some white gold wax. Most of the flowers are from the kit (Prima), except for the blue flowers- those are from my stash (Petaloo).

For the Scrapaholics swirly gears piece, I used embossing powder- Frantage Aged Bronze, and then once dry, I added some darkish Prima metallic paint and before it was dry, I used a tissue to wipe off some of the blue paint.

For the last piece of chipboard, the Scrapaholics butterfly collage, I inked it with grey archival ink, painted it with some more of the same blue metallic Prima paint, then added some Frantage Aged Black embossing powder randomly.

I also painted the Prima wings and key with the blue paint from my stash, then added some white gold wax.

Mood Board Monday

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing a masculine layout created with the September 2020 scrapbook kit. The papers from Scrapboys are amazing. I’m really loving with this kit. Masculine layouts are becoming my thing.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

This layout is based on the September mood board.

Here is the mood board:

How about some close-ups:

I covered the sheet in clear gesso to prep it for the stenciling and misting I did. Here you can see where I used just the leftover modeling paste on the stencil to create this light design. The stenciling is heavier in other places.

Here you can see more of the stenciling and misting. You can also see the chipboard that I used a textured embossing powder on. There are also a few layers under the photo from papers in the kit. I did a bit of fussy cutting on the pipe frame from one of the sheets.

More layers, chipboard (swirls were cut from gear border) and flowers from the kit. Another fussy cut frame from the papers.

Imagination Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, friends!

Today I’m sharing my layout that I made with the September kit for this month’s mood board challenge.  Take a look at this fanciful mood board:

And’ here’s what I came up with:

I started out by adding some stenciling with texture paste.  Once dry, I added some blue and yellow distress oxide inks to tone down the white texture paste.  Next I added some stitching rub-ons from my stash.  You could easily use stitch stamps to achieve this look as well.

I treated all of the chipboard- the Scrapaholics gear swirl is from the kit- I added a combination of blue, gold, and silver embossing powders.  I used the same technique on the damask piece as well (from my stash as well, new Prima).  The fancy clock chipboard is also new from Prima.  ( I just had to use these because they were perfect for this kit!)  That was easy- just add archival ink in a random fashion.

For the layers, I cut up paper from the kit, several fussy cut elements (gears, clocks, pipes, gears, etc.) and some of the Prima Marketing ATC Alphabet cards from the mixed media kit for September.

I completed the layout by adding some Prima flowers form the kit, as well as some blue Petaloo from my stash.

“Beautiful” Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, everyone!

By now you’ve seen some of the gorgeous projects that our design team has made using the August scrapbook kit, and here’s the last one that I have made:I adore this AB Studios piece of paper that I used for the background.  The details are so striking that I designed my layout so that the gold and lacy images would still pop. I kept it simple- no stenciling or stamping this time. 🙂

I started out by treating the chipboard pieces: for the Dusty Attic dangles that came in the kit, I used some gold and black embossing powders, then pressed a black pigment ink pad onto the dried embossing powder for more of a distressed look.  The leafy circle under the picture is also Dusty Attic (from my stash) which I added multiple colors of embossing powders for a mottled look.

For the flowers, I added the lovely Prima Marketing flowers and some gold leaves, also Prima Marketing. Other touches include fussy cutting the Prima Marketing ephemera title which I also added some yellowish ink to so it wasn’t so stark white.

I used several layers of the Prima Darcelle ephemera for the photo matting.  I added a dictionary paper, lace, and film strip ribbon from my stash to bulk up the layers.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Tres Jolie Kit Club–August 2020 Sketch-“This Beautiful Life”

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog!

This week I am bringing you a layout I created for this month’s sketch challenge using the August 2020 Scrapbooking Kit! This kit includes the scrumptious “Diva” papers from A.B. Studio, some beautiful Prima flowers and ephemera, chipboard from Dusty Attic and Scrapaholics, and a pack of resin pieces from Scrapberry. DSC_0005-FRAMED

I just adore the “Diva” Collection, and it took me a little while to figure out exactly what I was going to do with it, and to tell the truth, the large cut out bonus piece in the pack did a lot of the work for me! Check out the sketch this month, then look below it to see my process video!

August 2020 Tres Jolie Sketch:

August sketch

Process Video:

DSC_0015-FRAMED DSC_0036-FRAMED

To add a little texture to the background I did some water distressing along the edge of the blue-grey paper and added some light stenciling, using an Art Anthology stencil and some texture paste from my stash, where it would peek out from behind my layers.

DSC_0010-FRAMED DSC_0016-FRAMED

Even though fussy cutting isn’t my most favorite part of crafting, I just had to add in some of the black & white flowers and foliage from the cut apart sheet in the “Diva” collection. For my chipboard keys and ornaments I pulled out a couple of Prima Fluid Chalks (that came in previous Tres Jolie kits) and just dabbed them on!

DSC_0006-FRAMED DSC_0007-FRAMED

Those Prima flowers were the perfect complement to the “Diva” papers, and the pack of “Darcelle” ephemera gave me the piece I needed for the perfect title.

If you haven’t checked out my video yet, that photo is of my grandmother and mother, which I edited and added that sparkle filter to.Thank you for joining us here at Tres Jolie! I hope my layout and take on this month’s sketch inspired you and gave you some ideas for your next project!
