Anniversary by Ginny

Hello all!

I’m back today with another layout to share with you all created with the December Scrapbook kit from TRES JOLIE KITS.

This time I chose to work with the brighter colours from the paper collection Joyous Winterdays from Maja Design.

Now to share some details and close ups….

I tore a large triangular piece of co-ordinating paper, Christmas Time, to go with my chosen background paper, Make Decorations. I edged it with some Distress Ink.

I used the paints from the Mixed Media Kit to paint the chipboard Holly & Berry Frame, which I cut into two pieces.

The photo was backed on the Frost paper.

The bunting pieces I created from paper Playful

.

I used the Kaiser Pearls to add to some chipboard from my stash to create Mistletoe.

The title chipboard I covered with Viva Inka Gold from my stash just by rubbing it over with my finger.

The vine I shaped around the photo to carry on the circular design started with the chipboard frame.

Frost Layout by Ginny

Hi all,

Welcome to another post featuring the December Scrapbook Kit from TRES JOLIE KITS.

This kit features papers from Maja Design Joyous Winterdays collection, flowers from Prima Marketing and chipboards from Creative Embellishments. What is there not to love?!

Here is my wintery themed layout with myself and my favourite girlie ! ❤ ….

The next photos show you a few close ups with details of my work.

The top background paper, Glisten, was heavily distressed round the edges and then backed onto the main background paper, Cozy Inside.

The photo is backed onto paper Frost.

I added the title strip from one of the papers as a border across the layout.

The chipboard title was covered with Nuvo Cryatsl drops.

I covered the chipboard with the silver Nuvo Crystal Drops and dropped the Antique Silver Art Sugar from the Mixed Media kit onto it whilst still wet.

I added Nuvo drops all round the layout.

I loved the cute shovel which I nestled in the flower cluster.

I added the Art Sugar to some of the flowers and silver leaves too.

I finished by adding some of the ‘snow’ from the mixed media kit to the shovel and the flower clusters.

Peace, Love, and Joy Tags with Rae

Hello there!

It’s time to start making tags, if that’s something you do for Christmas! 🙂 Today I am sharing a few tags I made with the December Cards, Tags, and More kit.

My inspiration for creating this tag trio was the Creative Embellishments chipboard set that came in the kit: Peace Love and Joy titles. I kept the design mostly the same for all three tags: I hand cut some of the red cardstock from the kit to make tag shapes, and then cut some of the Mintay  Christmas Stories papers slightly smaller for layers for the base of the tags. I distressed the edges of both layers, then inked the edges of the patterned paper layers.

I also cut out doilies (Prima) from the Mintay papers- one for each tag.

I also cut out some leafy swirls using a Cheery Lynne die. I cut those and added them to peek out from under the Kaisercraft flowers.

Under each of the pieces of chipboard, I added three little cut outs from the Mintay paper and fanned them to give a nice base for the chipboard titles.

I treated the Creative chipboard pieces with some white and gold embossing powders.

Challenge Monday

Happy Monday everyone, it’s Kim here. I’m back with another edition of Challenge Monday. This month is a layout sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch:

Although this is a layout sketch, it can easily be adapted for cards, tags or even a canvas.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I used a photo I found on Pinterest (there were no photo credits).  I just loved the contrast of the black gates up against the white snow and those pretty wreaths.

How about some close ups?

I started with the flowers. They weren’t the right shade of green for me, so I changed the color with some Lindy’s cathedral pines green mist. while they were wet, I flattened them out some. I also cut off a piece of the poinsettia vine.

I cut up the holly and berry border chipboard piece and heat embossed it with lindy’s oakleaf olive embossing powder. I also embossed and cut up some of the snowflake chipboard pieces from my stash. I tucked a few in my flower cluster. I popped the layers up with foam tape.

I used a small berry cluster from my stash on the bottom along with flowers.  I tucked in a small piece of lace on the bottom.

Here is my little tip for the week: I have found that Lindy’s Oakleaf Olive embossing powder and Cathedral Pines Green mist are  great matches for this kit. If you have it in your stash try it out.

I can’t wait to see what you guys create based on the sketch. Don’t forget to load your entries in the sketch challenge folder here , so you will be eligible for the prize.

Join us all month-long as the designers reveal all their projects created with all our amazing kits. We still have kit subscriptions available here. You can also just try out a single kit here.

Noel Plaque by Ginny

Hello all,

This week I’m sharing with you my project created with the December Mixed Media Kit from TRES JOLIE KITS.

I loved this project and had so much fun creating it. I added a few different techniques to it.

I wanted to create a shabby/weathered look to the plaque.

Lets have a look!

Here is a quick photo guide on the process…..

I firstly gave the plaque a coat of the green paint.

I dried this with a heat tool to speed the process up.

Next I covered the plaque with a thick layer of the off white paint.

Then Dried it.

When fully dry I rubbed over places of it with some sand paper to rub back though the layers to reveal the green paint and the wood underneath.

I then used some crackle medium from my stash in three patches on the plaque. The crackle medium I used does takes a good 24/48 hours to crack and dry but the wait is worth it.

The ‘believe’ I painted with the red paint and then when dry covered in the crackle medium again. Thick in places to crack and not so in others – this is where it looks a bit white where there isn’t the layer of medium to crack but I like the effect.

when dry and cracked I rubbed over the Opal Magic so that it filled the cracks. This really accentuated the cracks, I loved the way it turned out!

I added the Opal Magic to the crackle patches on the plaque too!

Next some fussy cutting from the papers in the main Scrapbook Kit.

This was the base to main design. I used hot glue to fix one of the floral embellishments, as this a big piece to fix firmly.

I added a lovely gold mesh bow to the back of the floral piece.

The second floral embellishment piece I cut up so I could create a smaller cluster….

…..And made this arrangement on the opposite side of the ‘believe’.

I added the fake snow around the floral cluster by dropping it into wet glue and leaving it to dry and then shaking the excess off after when dry.

I finished off by rubbing some Viva Ink Gold around the edges of the ‘believe’ and the outside edges of the plaque and dropping some of the glitter on to the background that had fell off the floral embellishments….. I never waste anything!!!

Here are some close ups of the finished project.

Merry Christmas Deer Cards with Rae

Hello! Today I am sharing a couple of cards I have made with the December Card, Tags, and More kit, featuring Mintay Christmas Stories papers.

I created two  6X6 cards using a similar design.

Here they are:

I love that cute little deer on the papers, so I cut two of them out for these cards. This paper is perfect for fussy cutting! I also cut out some of the red poinsettias as well to add to the floral part of the cards.

I used a 6 X 6 piece of paper for the back layer of the cards, then cut two sheets of the 6 X 6 paper down to 5 3/4 X 5 3/4. Then I ripped the paper that was going on the bottom diagonally to create a “half and half” design. I distressed all of the edges, then glued these layers together, leaving room under the top layer to tuck in some lace (from my stash).

Next, I added some stenciling (snow “dot” pattern) with some glittery paste, and added the Merry Christmas titles.

On this card, I used the red paper and a die to cut the title, and added some of the Kaisercraft pearls to accent the title.

For this card, I added the Creative Embellishments chipboard from the kit. I embossed it with Stampendous Shabby Green embossing powder from my stash.

I cut out a fancy snowflake with an old Memory Box dies, and put it in the middle of the card, then added a larger flower from my stash, added the deer to the middle and added some of the small Kaisercraft roses from the kit.

After that, I tucked in the poinsettias that I fussy cut, then added more of the little Kaisercraft roses.

Here’s a couple of closeups from both cards showing the floral cluster/line.

Bottle Tag and Card set

Hey everyone, Kim here. Today I am going to share my first set of projects from the Card, Tags and more kit.

Let’s first take a look at this months kit.

This kit is filled with lots of paper to create plenty of holiday tags and cards.   Plus plenty of embellishments (for a full list of contents see here).

Here is my first project. It is a holiday bottle Tag and Card set. These were very simple, yet fun to make.

How about some close ups:

For the both pieces, I used the same papers. I cut the bases out of the green cardstock. I used 2 separate sheets of paper for the layers. I used the same process for both. The bottom layer is patterned paper, then cardstock, then another sheet of patterned paper.

The chipboard titles are from the kit and I just heat embossed them with some red tinsel embossing powder from my stash. The white flower and balls are from my stash.

For the top of the bottle tag, I used my 1 3/4 punch for the hole. It’s a good size for almost any bottle. I embelleshed the top with pearls for the kit. It’s hard to see, but I also used some crystal stickles on both to give it a bit of shimmer.

Today’s tip: The dimensions for the bottle tag are 3 inches wide x 9 inches lone. The top is scored at 3 inches. Look for a video later this month.

That’s all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Believe Christmas Bunting and Tutorial with Rae

Happy Saturday, friends!

I’m excited to share a piece of holiday decor I made using the December scrapbook kit. I’ve been working on making buntings to hang in my house for all seasons. So far I’ve made one for Autumn and Summer, and now a Christmas one. I decided to make this holiday bunting with stockings instead of banners for a festive twist. The Maja Design Joyous Winterdays collection is perfect for a classic, vintage piece of decor.

Here it is:

I started by cutting out 7 stockings, one for each letter in the word “Believe.” I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut these out, but the shape is pretty basic, so you could draw one by hand and cut it out without a machine. 🙂

When I cut the stocking and the top, I did so at different times so I could get the right fit, but using the other side of the page.

I also wanted to add an oval to the middle of each stocking, so I picked an oval die that would work with the left over paper from each stocking.

Once cut out, I distressed each piece, and added some dark grey chalk ink.

I cut out some oval frames using some glitter cardstock from my stash to put under the oval that I cut out from the Maja Design paper. Then I added foam tape to both layers to give the project some dimension. I normally use cardboard to “pop up” my layers, but on a project like this where it will be hanging, I don’t want that to be visible in between the layers.

Once I had all of the ovals glued to the stockings, I decorated each one using items from the kit. I loved these silver and mint green flowers, but I wanted to give them a heavily frosted look without losing the shape, so I added embossing liquid to them, then poured this glittery embossing powder over them, shook them off, and then used a heat tool to set the powder.

They weren’t 100% covered, and I love the look! If you don’t have a glittery embossing powder, you can simply add glitter to any embossing powder to get the same results.

I tried to get the same or similar design on all of the stockings. I added some letters that I cut with my Cameo from some scrap paper, then added the dark grey chalk ink in a distressed fashion. After I glued down the letters, I traced each of them (seen in the final pictures) with a white ink pen so they could be easily seen.

I added the silver and white flowers treated with the embossing powder, then added the Prima Marketing Sweet Peppermint silver leaves. I also cut up the Prima Vintage Christmas Poinsettia Kiss vine/stem so I could tuck them under the flower cluster. I also cut out some of the little kids, snowmen, and Santas from the papers to include in the clusters.

Then I added some of the Creative Embellishments chipboard from the kit (Holly border and frame pieces) that I cut up. I used some Stampendous shabby green embossing powder to get the effect you can see in the pic below. To finish off the design, I added some of the Kaisercraft white pearls to the oval frame.

Once done with all seven of the stockings, it was time to hang them up. Here’s how I added the ribbon:

I started by using my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole at the top of each stocking.

Next, I used the Crop-a-Dile again on the ribbon. Becasue of the material, the holes wouldn’t be solid. but it ters the fabric enough to be able to make a hole.

Then, I added a grommet, making sure to keep the ribbon straight.

For added interest, I added some of these Prima metal snowflakes from my stash to each of the stockings.

And now they are ready to hang.

Here’s a close up of each stocking:
