Hello everyone ! We have a beautiful sketch this month and I am presenting a layout I made inspired by it.

Here is my take on the sketch :

First thing I did is applying clear Gesso on the surface because I knew I would be using lots of mediums.  Once everything was dry I used a stencil from my stash and put on both sides.  I used a lot of 13@rts Turquoise Mist on all the surface and also some Pink from my stash.  I cut out some peaces from “Their word for each other” Prima paper and the frame from the Prima flower pack to put under and around the photo.  I finished with flowers, wood peaces and title from 13@arts.

Material used :

  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose (Scented Love Letters)
  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose (The Memorable Floral Wall)
  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose (Scattered Dreams)
  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose (Their Words for Each Other)
  • 13@rts 12×12 Chipboard sheet
  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose Flowers
  • Prima Marketing Misty Rose Flowers
  • Lace leaf appliques (2)
  • 13@rts Turquoise Mist

‘Beautiful Together’ by Ginny

It’s time for another layout  using our October Scrapbook kit today!

This kit is full of gorgeous papers from 13 Arts and Prima Marketing. For this layout I used the 13 Arts papers.

I loved these 13 Arts floral papers, they are so pretty. The feature background paper I chose was a wood panelled floral paper. I cut the 12×12 paper down by a 1 cm on all sides and then cut along the wood panel sections, distressed all edges and stuck these 3 panels onto my other chosen background paper.

The two title pieces are from the 12 x 12 chipboard sheet.
I embossed these with a white embossing powder.

The leaves are also from the sheet and covered with the white embossing powder.

My distressed edges on the paper I inked with a ‘Toffee’ archival ink pad.
I also used some glass glitter (diamond dust) from my stash and added it in places over the flowers and around the flower clusters to add some sparkle to the layout.

My photo I mounted on a piece of the Prima PP which was of course distressed and inked to.

The photo was then mounted on a piece of cardboard to ‘lift’ it off the layout, this left me somewhere to push my embossed chipboard leaves under. Photos always to me look better if the embellishments come from underneath the photo and some go over the photo, it blends the photo and embellishments together creating a much better effect.

On this layout I tilted the photo, I like this effect, the photo works well for this. The eye is drawn from the main focal point of Holly and I up to the rocks of Lands End in the background.
Lands End is the most southerly point in the UK at Cornwall and was from our summer holiday down there earlier this year.

Challenge Monday

Happy Monday everyone, it’s Kim here. I’m back with another edition of Challenge Monday. This month is a layout sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch:

Although this is a layout sketch, it can easily be adapted for cards, tags or even a canvas.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I used a photo of dh and I on our anniversary this year. Man where did the past 24 yrs go? How about some close ups?

I started with a 2 sheets of the Prima paper. I cut the busier sheet and layered it on the light pink sheet of paper. I distressed the edges of the paper and did some light stenciling on the background.

I used the large trim piece and heat embossed it with lindy’s caesar’s gold embossing powder. I also layered paper and that cardboard from from the flower pack under my photo. I popped the layers up with foam tape.

I used some of the lace as a border and did a small cluster of the flowers. The title is from the 12×12 chipboard. I heat embossed that with the Lindy’s as well. I also added a small floral cluster in the bottom left hand corner.

Here is my little tip for the week: I have found that Lindy’s Caesar’s Gold embossing powder is a great match for this kit. If you have it in your stash try it out.

I can’t wait to see what you guys create based on the sketch. Don’t forget to load your entries in the sketch challenge folder here , so you will be eligible for the prize.

“Just You” Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday!

Today I am sharing a layout I made based on the October sketch created by Kim:

Isn’t that sketch lovely?

Here’s my interpretation of the sketch:

This 13 Arts “Rose Fields” paper is beyond gorgeous! I adore the different shades of pinks mixed with black and white with hints of green. You MUST get this kit if you are not a subscriber!

I started out with cutting down and distressing the “wood plank” paper so I could see a lot of the black of the first layer, as I wanted to add some elegant black accents and I wanted them to pop.

I added the white lace across the layout as the sketch has that design element, and then built my layers around the photo. I used some Prima Misty Rose paper for a mat, then added it to the gold frame that came in one of the Prima flower packs.I added some stamping to peek from under the right side of the photo, then added some of the chipboard flowers which I inked black.

On the left side of the cluster, I added some cut outs from the Rose Fields paper, and a doily die cut. I added another piece of chipboard that I inked black as well as the title, which I inked using a peachy colored chalk ink.  I just love how much chipboard came int he kit this month! Then I added my flowers and some butterflies from my stash.

Lastly, I added the cluster to the lower left side of the layout, keeping it simple, replicating the colors and elements from the top cluster- black chipboard swirl, flower, and another butterfly from my stash, from the Prima Misty Rose collection.

Wishes by Annie Carignan

Hello all !! Today I am sharing with you a layout made with October’s Scrapbook Kit.  This month’s kit is filled with gorgeous papers from Prima and 13@rts.

I started of course by a coat of Clear Gesso on the surface to prepare my paper for mediums.  As you can see on the photo I used a stencil from my stash with crackle paint.

Once the flowers were dry I used Watercolors in different Pink shades.

I did the same thing with Green on the leaves. I wanted the roses to blend with the flowers that are already on the paper.

Here is a closer look :

I also took a flower stamp from my stash with Black ink to add texture. At last, I cut some flowers from the other papers from the kit to use them as Ephemeras on the layout.

Material used :

13@rts Rose Fields Paper Collection (6 Sheets)
13@rts A4 Rose Fields Elements Sheet
13@rts 12×12 Chipboard sheet
Prima Marketing Misty Rose Flowers
Prima Marketing Misty Rose Flowers

Thank you and see you soon !

‘Roses’ canvas by Ginny

Welcome to my second project of the month for Tres Jolie October Kit.

Today I thought I would share with you my Mixed Media Kit Project.

This month we had a lovely large square canvas and the gorgeous watercolours from Prima. What a treat to be able to create with these!

Here is the Mixed Media Kit

And so lets look at a few photos of how I created this canvas.

I only used a limited amount of colours from the Metallic Accents set for this canvas. I kept to all the pinks and paler colours through to the grey.
With a wide 3/4 inch paint brush I painted on the various colours one at a time in random spots over the background of the canvas, letting them blend and run together to create a marbled effect. Later I used a smaller brush to add some paint splats.

The water colour paint are so easy to use. I start them off with a spray of water to activate them and use them from the individual pots, I also use the palette tray in the lid, to blend some of the colours together and to add more water to get a really watery mixture going for a ‘wash’.

The chipboard pieces were in the scrapbook kit. These I simply covered with a white embossing powder.

I used the journal card sheet, cut them all up individually, distressed the edges and backed them onto a piece of light 12×12 paper from the scrapbook kit and distressed those too.

I fussy cut these flower clusters out from one of the 13 Arts papers

I splatted some of the metallic paint on the background

Now to layer up the design. I used some cardboard behind some of the journal cards to ‘lift’ them up. This enabled me to slot under the chipboard pieces.

Add the fussy cut floral pieces

Next came the flowers, again I only used the pink flowers from the selection in the mixed media kit.

I used one of the silver metal frames from the scrapbook kit and added a cut piece of patterned paper to the inside. I then covered the paper with a thick layer of crackle glaze. This was slid into the card layers too.

Lastly I then splattered the paler metallic paint over the entire canvas and tipped the edges of the flowers with the metallic paint too.

Here are some close ups of the finished canvas….

“Paradise” Watercolor Canvas for Mixed Media Monday

Hey everyone Kim here, today I am sharing my project I made with with Mixed Media Kit. If you don’t know about our mixed media kits, let me tell you about them. The kit is filled with not only mediums, but a project so you can use our kits right out of the box.

Here is our October Mixed Media kit. It is filled with Watercolor mediums from Prima.  Watercolors are the it thing right now and our kit is the perfect size for you to try them out. You can subscribe to our kits here.

Check out the kit:

Here is what I created using the kit:

How about some close ups:

Lets talk about the background first. I took a stencil and some modeling paste to make the brick background. Once that was done, I began working with the watercolors.

I worked with the blue and green colors in the palette because I wanted to keep my beachy theme going in the background. I used less water in some areas to keep the color more opaque. In other areas, I used lots of water and dabbed a bit with a wet wipe to lift the color.

I also added lots of water to make sure the colors ran in between the bricks. For my frame, I went over it with the white pearl paint to give it a bit of shimmer. The fence was painted with the soft satin.

All the chipboard got a coat of clear gesso before I used the green watercolor (except the title)on it. It a couple of coats, but I do like the end result.  I also used some metallic rub-ons on the background, instead of stamps. I like the way the metallic blends in with the shimmer of the watercolors and paint.

I used the pink watercolor on my title and added some flowers from the kit. Then I used a few different colors from the watercolor palette to add some splashes to my canvas and called it done.

Hope you liked my little explanation of my Mixed Media Monday project.

Here is my weekly tip: When using chipboard, its always good to cover it with gesso before altering it. I like using clear, that way it doesn’t alter the color of paint or other medium I am applying to it.

“Me and You” Mixed Media Watercolor Panel with Rae

Happy Sunday!

Today I’m sharing my project made with the lovely October mixed media kit. Here’s what comes in the kit.And here’s what I came up with:

I started out by spraying the Prima Marketing watercolor canvas with water, then used a few different colors of the metallic watercolors, also from Prima Marketing, from the palette, creating a large diagonal stripe, intentionally leaving lots of the canvas unpainted.

Next, as you can see in this closeup, I added some script stenciling- this stencil is a 12X12 from Kaisercraft from my stash.

Next, I assembled the design, using a picture encased in the window with shutters (Prima Memory Hardware Venetian Shutters) from my stash, and many flowers from the kit. I also added some die cuts of leaves that I painted with the green watercolor pan.

I also added some of the white Prima Metallique paint to the flowers to soften the colors. I also added the soft silk Metallique paint to the shutters.

I added some splatters of the watercolors, using the colors of the flowers, and then some black and white splatters of India ink from my own supplies.

I also added a title from the scrapbook kit that was in the 13 Arts chipboard set.

Mini Album by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone ! Here I am again for another month as Guest Designer, really happy to share some new creations with October’s beautiful kits 🙂  Today I am using the Card Kit :

For this month’s card kit, I decided to make a mini-album with the tags from Graphic 45.  I used different papers from the paper pad also from Graphic 45 for the background of my pages. I did not use any mediums for this album because the papers themselves are already filled with flowers and colours.  I added stickers (Graphic 45 Sticker sheet), lace and flowers on each page.

The photos are of my kids from a few years ago when we went for a photoshoot.

Material used :

  1. Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe 8×8 paper pad
  2. Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe 12×12 sticker sheet
  3. Graphic 45 Large Black Tags (6)
  4. 1 yd Lace trim
  5. Lace appliques (3)
  6. Mixed Color puffy flowers
