Creating a layout with 6×6 paper

Hello crafty friends! Jeanne back this week sharing how I created this Christmas layout using the November 2020 Card, Tags, & More Kit. This is the very first time creating a layout using 6×6 paper. I have been wanting to make one but I hadn’t done one yet but since I love these beautiful papers from the paper pad this month which is 49 & Market Noel Vintage Artistry Collection, I thought heck why not right! So here it is!

This was pretty quick to complete this layout so I want to share how quick it came together. I try to create quick , not too complicated, tutorials for those of you who are beginners. I know I learned a lot from tutorials that weren’t too complicated. I really try to so hopefully this helps out.

I began by choosing the pattern paper from the 6×6 paper pad and using my Prima Marketing Distress Tool, I distressed all of the edges of the papers. I then adhered them onto a 12×12 sheet of chipboard using 1in. non brand double sided tape. I have seen on some layouts created from 6×6 papers that they have cut along the edges to size it onto the base but I didn’t have to do that with mine, so not sure whether maybe it depends on the papers not sure. I then just went over the layout using homemade clear gesso , I was out of Prima Marketing Gesso that I usually use but found a recipe online. It worked so I probably will keep using it! Here is the tutorial I followed!

I then used a snowflake stencil along with Deco Art Crackle Paint which I absolutely love, its a favorite of mine! Before drying it with my heat tool, I applied some glitter I had left from a previous Tres Jolie Kit. I then adhered some white lace from my stash.

Then just added a photo of my grandson which was taken Christmas 2017, he was so small and his Elf had put tissue all around the tree. So its a great memory! I added the photo adhered on some scrap paper from the paper pad then on some foam tape for added dimension. I also added a beautiful floral piece that is from Blue Fern Studios, which was also a product from last years Christmas Tres Jolie Kit.

I found some adorable ephemera letters “NOEL” and an adorable car which is from the Crate Paper Merry Days collection. I loved that the colors of these matched the stitched frame that I added on my photo and a sticker that says “It’s December” on the frame. I love these stitched frames which I know are also from a previous kit as well from Tres Jolie. So as you can see you are able to use products you might have left from other kits as well. I then finished it off by adding some splatters using some Aqua Pigment in Pearl from Brutus Monroe, which you can add water to it or use it as is which I did in this case.

Well friends, I better end this post before I start rambling on more than I already have lol. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It was a strange one this year but hopefully all goes back to normal soon. Please keep safe! Till next time!

XOXO,

Jeanne

Noel Vintage Artistry Christmas Cards

Hello everyone!! I’m back this week to share with you a couple of Christmas cards that I created with the November Cards, Tags, & More from Tres Jolie Kits. I absolutely am a HUGE fan of all things 49 & Market. This month’s kit was wonderfully put together! So shout out to Kim Heard, owner of Tres Jolie Kits, for this magnificent kit!

These cards measure 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 , I used the White Card Stock that came in the kit, I also used the gold and silver glitter card stock. I cut to size the selected 6 x 6 sheets of the 49 & Market Noel Vintage Artistry Collection.

I began with adhering the cut glitter card stock onto the white card stock using the ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever. I used my Prima Marketing Distress Tool on all of the edges of the cut design paper , leaving a little bit of the glitter card stock peeking around the edges. I then adhered the distressed design paper, I also distressed some of the cut outs from the cut out sheet! I used non brand pop dots to adhere those cut outs.

On the cover, I added some fibers from Brutus Monroe for added texture then added a small flower Poinsettia cluster using the paper poinsettia’s from a previous Tres Jolie kit from last year. Lastly added some pearl stamens as well. On the inside I added some American Crafts Textured Card stock and then added some smooth white card stock for the writing area.

These cards were fun to create. I love this entire kit and will be using the rest of it to create more cards, possibly a layout using the 6 X 6 sheets left from this kit. I hope that you liked this week’s project. I will be creating something for next weeks post however that isn’t Christmas themed. I will be making something for the mood board story challenge for this month for  Tres Jolie. You can join up and post your entry over at the Facebook group Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe. I will be back next week with another fun project so stay tuned!

Hugs,

Jeanne

Christmas Cheer Cards

Hello crafty friends! This month has sure come quick but I am not gonna complain, I mean who doesn’t love creating anything having to do with Christmas right?! Well the Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie sure has amazing products to start you off to create beautiful, fun , handmade cards. Everything you need is in this kit! I’m not the greatest at creating cards using embossing folders but I must say that I did enjoy the ones in this kit, here is what I came up with.

I first created this rose gold foiled card using the white cardstock from the kit for my base. I decided on using this foiled paper from my stash because it is pretty thick  and to be honest I wanted to show the beautiful detailed poinsettia embossing. I tried a variety of papers but this one was my favorite and since I cannot color to save my life, this is a great way to make a lot of cards in a short period of time. I then used one of the banners from the Bo Bunny Stamp set from the kit and a sentiment as well on this card. I stamped them using embossing ink and Wow Iridium glitter embossing powder.  I popped it up using foam pop dots and added some gold sequins randomly placed. On the inside I went with a soft pink textured card stock and white smooth card stock on top for my message.

I then created two more cards using the Snowflake Scroll embossing folder from the kit. On these cards, I used the white cardstock as my base, then cut pieces of the Etcetera (ETC) Red and Green Glitter papers from the kit as well. On the Red card I used some Ranger Ink Liquid Pearls (Rouge) .  I then used the Wow Glitter Embossing Powder (Iridium) & Brutus Monroe Embossing Clear Ink, and Joyful Christmas Bo Bunny Stamp from the kit “Merry Christmas” for my sentiment.

I used a red textured card stock from American Crafts and a white plain card stock layered on the inside. Lastly I added a red paper poinsettia flower from a previous Tres Jolie Kit on front .

This next card using the green glittered paper from the kit, everything was pretty much the same except I added some of the snowflake stamps from the stamp set on the bottom of my sentiment. I also added some of the Kaisercraft Dark Green Rhinestones from the kit on some of the embossed snowflakes.  I added a green poinsettia on this card. I also added an American Crafts  green textured card stock with a smooth white on the inside for my Christmas message to be written on.

I do hope that you like what I have created for my first project using the Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie. I will be creating more cards using the paper pad Noel Vintage Artistry from the kit as well as a layout using this same kit, so stay tuned for those! Till then, keep checking our blog daily as the other Tres Jolie designers come sharing what they have created using the Scrapbook Kit and Mixed Media kit. Also don’t forget to join in this month on the monthly challenges because we have two this month, the sketch challenge and mood board challenge!! See you next Friday!!

“I was quiet….” October Sketch Challenge Layout

Hello crafty friends! This week I come to you with my sketch challenge layout for October 2020. I really love this beautiful paper line and I knew it would go perfect with a photo of my beautiful daughter Destinee who is my only daughter and the oldest of my children. This paper collection from Blue Fern Studios Jane’s Memoris  which is in the Scrapbook Kit from Tres Jolie Kits.

This project was pretty quick coming together because the paper I used is so beautifully detailed that I didn’t want to cover to take anything away from it. I had thought of adding some stenciling but I honestly backed away last minute. Here is some photos of the steps I took to create this!

I began by picking out which paper from the collection I would use from this Blue Fern Studios Jane’s Memoirs collection. I also like using 12×12 sheet of chipboard to back my layout this way it keeps sturdy even if I was to spray inks, water, stenciling, stamping , etc. I added some non brand double sided tape onto the chipboard, I then used Tim Holtz Distress Stain Ground Espresso along the edges of the paper I chose. I then took off the paper off of the double sided tape using my Tim Holtz Retractable Craft Pick . Once I added my paper, I went over it using my We R Memory Keepers Large Bone Folder.

I then set my layout aside and picked out my photo and frame for my layout. I absolutely love the chipboard frames from Creative Embellishments that was included in this month’s Scrapbook Kit!! I used Ranger Embossing Ink Dauber on the chipboard then added some Lindy’s Stamp gang Embossing Powder Silence Is Golden, I believe it was from a past Tres Jolie Kit. I then let it cool and adhered my photo onto the frame using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever which has a great hold. I then used some scrap chipboard or card board on the back of my photo for dimension and used the same glue to adhere it to the paper. I then began adding the flowers that came in the kit as well as flowers from past kits as well. I used the same glue to adhere everything on this project. The flowers are beautiful 49 & Market flowers , Country Bloom (Punch) & Enchanted Petals (Parchment).

la

I also used some the lace from the Scrapbook Kit as well on my layout with a small flower cluster. For that super cute quote that is on my layout which reads ” I was quiet…..but I was not blind-Jane Austen” I cut it from the Bits-N-Bobs Pack also from the kit. I then used the same Distress Stain that I inked the edge of my paper on this small quote I cut. I then used some dimensional dots to adhere it onto my layout. I lastly added a few pearls from Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Pearls IV Pink Passion around my layout.

I finished with this layout pretty quick as I mentioned before that this paper collection has so much detail in it that you don’t need to add to much embellishing to it. So it came together pretty quick! I hope that you will join up in the challenge! You have till the end of the month to do so! Thanks so much for taking time to read my post! I hope you feel inspired to great beautiful things! xoxo

Jeanne

Beginner Cards

Hello crafty friends! Jeanne here back to share with you these super cute cards that I created this week using the October Cards, Tags, & More. I had intended on this being a short tutorial since they are easy to put together for those of you who might have just started crafting and might get intimidated to create cards as I was. I unfortunately erased my photos by accident on my phone. I have the worst habit. But I’ll do this  on another blog post here in the near future. Anyhow I created these cards in no time and that I love about this kit is that it comes with everything you need to create a quick card.

I used the white card stock from the kit, as well as papers from the collection that was in the kit which is Couture Creations My Secret Love, I used some of the ephemera and stickers from that same collection. The only thing I added was the colored card stock , I added it in between the white card stock and design paper as well as some dimensional dots.

These cards were very easy to create and propping the ephemera and sentiment on pop dots makes the card have more interest. I know these are perfect for those who are beginning either in paper crafting or beginner in making cards in general. I know that when I began creating cards, I was pretty intimidated and I did go thru many YouTube videos , blogs , and of course Pinterest.

I hope that you like what I created with this beautiful card kit for this month. There are still kits left so don’t hesitate, run over to Tres Jolie and get your hands on this kit or if you want to purchase one of the mixed media or scrapbook kits too, go to this link and see them there. There are also kits from previous months for sale as well.

See you all next week again! I will be back with my sketch challenge project I created. Please join up, you don’t have to have one of these kits to join, work with what you have. We would love to see what you create and you can win something great from Tres Jolie if you put your entry here.

My Secret Love Shabby Purse Attache

Hello crafty friends! Today I am here on the Tres Jolie Blog to share with u this month’s first project where I use the October Cards, Tags, & More Kit from Tres Jolie. I absolutely was inspired by the beautiful projects that Tara Brown, a designer for Pion Designs. Her projects stand out and are very unique. So for this project I created, I followed one of her tutorials for this project which is a Purse Attaché.

I made the base with the white card stock that came in the kit, a couple of the papers from the Couture Creations paper collection, some of the ephemera pieces, flowers from the kit and one of the Creative Embellishments Chipboard  as well.

I did the base then when I finished cutting the design papers up, I used my Prima distress tool on all of the edges of the papers. Once they were adhered to the base, I went over them with gesso (from a previous Tres Jolie kit) and dry brushed on areas of the project. Once I did the embellishing on the lid and on the front side area, I went over those with the gesso as well. On the chipboard from Creative Embellishments, I used the same gesso on it .

On the lid, I did add a magnet so it would stay shut, I also added a wood piece & some Finnabair Art Pebbles from previous Tres Jolie kits as well.

On the inside I made some tabbed sections, days of the week. On the photo you can kind of see the alphas I used which were some older ones I had in my stash from Basic Grey. They are pretty light so I apologize for my photo being hard to see. I then added some of the post cards from the Ephemera Package in those slots.

But you can make this however you want, you can put month’s on there, or even use this cute purse as a recipe box too. I do hope you like what I created and try it out yourselves. Since the holiday’s are coming up quick, I think these would make cute gifts too. While your on Tara’s website, I hope you will look at all of the beautiful creations she has done through out the years!! See you all next week! Till then I hope you will visit daily to find some of the rest of the Tres Jolie designers share their amazing projects using the Scrapbook and Mixed Media kits! Also don’t forget to join this month’s sketch challenge.

“Industrial Romance” Hot Air Balloon Mood Board Challenge

Hello again crafty friends! This week I am excited to share with u all this month’s project for the Mood Board Challenge for Tres Jolie Kits! For this project I used the September Scrapbook Kit. This beautiful kit is not only a vintage feel but a steampunk one too!

When I first seen this kit I immediately got the idea I wanted to create a paper Hot Air Balloon. This project had been on my crafty bucket list for a while now when I seen the one that Miranda MsLiberty25 created. I followed her tutorial for the hot air balloon its self. I knew I wanted to add an airship instead of a basket or gondola. So while looking around online, I came across a shop on Etsy who sold some wooden 3-D puzzles. So looking around on their shop, I came across a couple different models, I chose the cheaper and best size I figured would work best. It was a 176 piece puzzle that my husband and I enjoyed creating!! We are now thinking we want to purchase more for us to do together and perhaps get some for our grandsons.

I absolutely loved creating this hot air balloon and found this month’s kit went so well with the mood board that Kim has chosen for this month! I do hope that you will enter the challenge this month since it is still open the rest of this month. So I hope that you will join in.

I hope that you have been inspired by the project I created this month for the challenge! This month the rest of the team members of Tres Jolie created some wonderful projects so I hope you check out this blog daily where you can find more inspirational projects. Till next time!! Xoxo

XOXO,

JEANNE

Vintage Artistry Coral Altered File Folder

Hello everyone! Today I am up on the blog to share with you this fun project that I created for this week using the September Card, Tags, & More Kit. This collection comes with the beautiful collection of papers from 49 & Market, Vintage Artistry Coral. Aside from the paper, I was anxious to use the cut out sheets that came with it. All that ephemera was absolutely beautiful! That is where I got the idea for an altered manila file folder. I hadn’t made one like this before but I was truly inspired by a very talented crafter that always has been an inspiration to me. Her name is Jenifer Stephens, her YouTube channel is A Trace Of Sparkle. Here is what I created with this amazing kit from Tres Jolie Kits!

I absolutely love how this turned out! There are many different ways that you can create these manila folders. I actually used 2.5 folders for this project. Since they weren’t coffee nor tea dyed I decided I would do a quick version of it so using Tim Holtz Distress Stain Ground Espresso , a sponge brush and a spray water bottle. I really love how it turned out! Here are some samples of this.

So this idea above works fast if you don’t have any folders, papers. ephemera, laces , etc coffee/tea dyed and you want to make something fast. I hope that you will give this a try and if you do make sure you share with us what you created over at the Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe

If you are undecided or just saw this kit now, you have to purchase this one! I can promise you that you will NOT be disappointed at all! It truly is amazing and there are so many projects you can create with it! I also used the Darice thin metal die that was included in this kit that inspired the front page of this project. Here is a video of the entire project.

Well friends I hope that you like what I have created for this week using this gorgeous kit! There is still time to get your Cards, Tags, & More kit or there are two other kits, the Scrapbook Kit and Mixed media kit that you can purchase as well. I will be back actually next week with a project using the Scrapbook kit! Until then I hope you check in daily to see the rest of the design team share their beautiful creations!! See ya next week! XOXO

Hugs,

Jeanne

P.S. Also don’t forget about the Mood board challenge going on here at Tres Jolie Kits!! Here is a post you can see what that mood board challenge is and get inspired by Kim who created an amazing layout!!

“Vintage Artistry Coral” 3×3 Shabby Notecards

Hello crafty friends! I’m back this month with some beautiful collections again from Tres Jolie Kits! The project I picked to do as my first project were these cute and pretty easy 3×3 notecards. I used the September Cards, Tags, & More Kit to create these.

I began by cutting a few sheets of the 8.5 X 11 white card stock that was included in the kit into 3 X 6 pieces , once you have cut the amount of card bases you are going to want to make then you take your score board & bone folder or score tool and score your base at the 3in mark . Which of course is the center where you will be making your fold.

Once you have all of  your card bases folded in half, set them aside . Now you can pick out the papers from the 49 & Market Vintage Artistry Collection(Coral). Once you have chosen the papers you might like to use for your cards. I then cut them about 1/8 inch shorter than the size of the base. After finishing up with those papers, I took my Prima Marketing Distress Tool , you are welcome to use any distress tool or even a pair of scissors to distress the edges of the design paper or you can also choose to leave them without distressing. That is completely your choice. I myself love how it looks a little more shabby with the edges distressed.

I then adhered the distressed papers onto the folded base. As a side note, I normally like to add colored card stock to the inside of the card, usually the color of the design paper, which in this case had a soft coral color. I add this so you can write down your inside message. I didn’t have any without the texture that would coordinate it so I ended up using American Crafts Textured card stock. But since you won’t be able to actually write on this kind of paper I cut some of the left over white card stock that I used for the base.

I then had to finish up the front so I added some pieces of the 49 & market Vintage Artistry Coral Washi Tape from the kit onto the cards in different directions. I also decided I would add some stenciling to these cute cards . On half of the cards I mixed up some DecoArt Deco Media Crackle Paste with some of the Finnibair Textured Powder from a previous Tres Jolie Kit. I applied it with a spatula onto a Prima Marketing Doily Stencil.

For the other half of the cards I mixed up the same texture/crackle mix and then added some Prima Marketing Color Bloom Spray in Ginger Coral color, although it turned out more pink than I wanted , it still added a little color to the lighter design paper that had a lighter background on it. For these cards I applied the mixture onto the Feather Stencil from Brutus Monroe .  I then used my heat tool to dry them as well as allowing more of the crackles to come thru. They are more noticeable on the ones with the white. I also used the same Crackle Paste on the chipboard butterflies that came with the kit. I did that on half of the cards and for the other half I used some of the butterflies that were in the paper collection perforated sheet. Lastly I added some sentiments from the Finnabair Art Daily Planner Sentiment Booklet and added some snippets of lace on half of them!

There are a variety of projects that you can create with this kit. I just decided that I would create these note cards since I like to add them to swaps , happy mail, or just to say “Hello”! I hope that you enjoyed what I created for my first project using this month’s kit. Keep checking in daily for more projects from my wonderfully talented team mates!! I know you will have lots of great inspiration and I do hope that you will join in this month’s mood board challenge! You can share what you create over at the Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe, there is an album where your entries go in. So try it out! Well I’ll see ya all next Friday with another project!!

Hugs,

Jeanne

Mini Tag Books

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing these adorable mini tag books I created using the August Cards, Tags, & More kit. I had the two sheets left from the beautiful papers from Craft O’Clock so thought they would look super cute as mini books you are able to journal in.

This project came together pretty fast , even if you don’t have this exact collection , you can create something similar by making your own tags, using any ephemera you have on hand or are able to print out some as well as sentiments . I used some sticker sentiments from the Finnabair Sentiments Sticker Book from another past Tres Jolie kit.

On one of the sets, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Seedless Preserves around all of the edges of my tags. I used small pop foam dots on the ephemera I added to the tags. For the sentiments, I used some colored/white card stock to back them onto. I also cut some white card stock to add to the back of the tags to add small photos or just use them to journal on.

This paper collection from Craft O’Clock was very beautiful and considering I wasn’t much for purple, I truly loved creating using this month’s Card, Tags, & More kit. I hope that you all use up every last piece of your papers. Even using scraps , you can come up with some great gift ideas.  I thought also of maybe altering an altoid tin to maybe store these tags books in.

The last thing I did was add some of the beautiful seam binding from the kit on one of the tag books and added some twine on the other one. I also added some of the pearls & bling from the kit. *Note: I didn’t post every single photo on here since they would be too many since I used some of the more narrow tags as well. I did share the main photos though. I hope that you like my project this week. Don’t forget there is still time to join in this month’s sketch challenge going on on the Tres Jolie facebook group. Join in you just might win!!

I will see ya all next time!! Hugs, Jeanne
