“Industrial Romance” Hot Air Balloon Mood Board Challenge

Hello again crafty friends! This week I am excited to share with u all this month’s project for the Mood Board Challenge for Tres Jolie Kits! For this project I used the September Scrapbook Kit. This beautiful kit is not only a vintage feel but a steampunk one too!

When I first seen this kit I immediately got the idea I wanted to create a paper Hot Air Balloon. This project had been on my crafty bucket list for a while now when I seen the one that Miranda MsLiberty25 created. I followed her tutorial for the hot air balloon its self. I knew I wanted to add an airship instead of a basket or gondola. So while looking around online, I came across a shop on Etsy who sold some wooden 3-D puzzles. So looking around on their shop, I came across a couple different models, I chose the cheaper and best size I figured would work best. It was a 176 piece puzzle that my husband and I enjoyed creating!! We are now thinking we want to purchase more for us to do together and perhaps get some for our grandsons.

I absolutely loved creating this hot air balloon and found this month’s kit went so well with the mood board that Kim has chosen for this month! I do hope that you will enter the challenge this month since it is still open the rest of this month. So I hope that you will join in.

I hope that you have been inspired by the project I created this month for the challenge! This month the rest of the team members of Tres Jolie created some wonderful projects so I hope you check out this blog daily where you can find more inspirational projects. Till next time!! Xoxo

Vintage Artistry Coral Altered File Folder

Hello everyone! Today I am up on the blog to share with you this fun project that I created for this week using the September Card, Tags, & More Kit. This collection comes with the beautiful collection of papers from 49 & Market, Vintage Artistry Coral. Aside from the paper, I was anxious to use the cut out sheets that came with it. All that ephemera was absolutely beautiful! That is where I got the idea for an altered manila file folder. I hadn’t made one like this before but I was truly inspired by a very talented crafter that always has been an inspiration to me. Her name is Jenifer Stephens, her YouTube channel is A Trace Of Sparkle. Here is what I created with this amazing kit from Tres Jolie Kits!

I absolutely love how this turned out! There are many different ways that you can create these manila folders. I actually used 2.5 folders for this project. Since they weren’t coffee nor tea dyed I decided I would do a quick version of it so using Tim Holtz Distress Stain Ground Espresso , a sponge brush and a spray water bottle. I really love how it turned out! Here are some samples of this.

So this idea above works fast if you don’t have any folders, papers. ephemera, laces , etc coffee/tea dyed and you want to make something fast. I hope that you will give this a try and if you do make sure you share with us what you created over at the Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe

If you are undecided or just saw this kit now, you have to purchase this one! I can promise you that you will NOT be disappointed at all! It truly is amazing and there are so many projects you can create with it! I also used the Darice thin metal die that was included in this kit that inspired the front page of this project. Here is a video of the entire project.

Well friends I hope that you like what I have created for this week using this gorgeous kit! There is still time to get your Cards, Tags, & More kit or there are two other kits, the Scrapbook Kit and Mixed media kit that you can purchase as well. I will be back actually next week with a project using the Scrapbook kit! Until then I hope you check in daily to see the rest of the design team share their beautiful creations!! See ya next week! XOXO

Hugs,

Jeanne

P.S. Also don’t forget about the Mood board challenge going on here at Tres Jolie Kits!! Here is a post you can see what that mood board challenge is and get inspired by Kim who created an amazing layout!!

“Vintage Artistry Coral” 3×3 Shabby Notecards

Hello crafty friends! I’m back this month with some beautiful collections again from Tres Jolie Kits! The project I picked to do as my first project were these cute and pretty easy 3×3 notecards. I used the September Cards, Tags, & More Kit to create these.

I began by cutting a few sheets of the 8.5 X 11 white card stock that was included in the kit into 3 X 6 pieces , once you have cut the amount of card bases you are going to want to make then you take your score board & bone folder or score tool and score your base at the 3in mark . Which of course is the center where you will be making your fold.

Once you have all of  your card bases folded in half, set them aside . Now you can pick out the papers from the 49 & Market Vintage Artistry Collection(Coral). Once you have chosen the papers you might like to use for your cards. I then cut them about 1/8 inch shorter than the size of the base. After finishing up with those papers, I took my Prima Marketing Distress Tool , you are welcome to use any distress tool or even a pair of scissors to distress the edges of the design paper or you can also choose to leave them without distressing. That is completely your choice. I myself love how it looks a little more shabby with the edges distressed.

I then adhered the distressed papers onto the folded base. As a side note, I normally like to add colored card stock to the inside of the card, usually the color of the design paper, which in this case had a soft coral color. I add this so you can write down your inside message. I didn’t have any without the texture that would coordinate it so I ended up using American Crafts Textured card stock. But since you won’t be able to actually write on this kind of paper I cut some of the left over white card stock that I used for the base.

I then had to finish up the front so I added some pieces of the 49 & market Vintage Artistry Coral Washi Tape from the kit onto the cards in different directions. I also decided I would add some stenciling to these cute cards . On half of the cards I mixed up some DecoArt Deco Media Crackle Paste with some of the Finnibair Textured Powder from a previous Tres Jolie Kit. I applied it with a spatula onto a Prima Marketing Doily Stencil.

For the other half of the cards I mixed up the same texture/crackle mix and then added some Prima Marketing Color Bloom Spray in Ginger Coral color, although it turned out more pink than I wanted , it still added a little color to the lighter design paper that had a lighter background on it. For these cards I applied the mixture onto the Feather Stencil from Brutus Monroe .  I then used my heat tool to dry them as well as allowing more of the crackles to come thru. They are more noticeable on the ones with the white. I also used the same Crackle Paste on the chipboard butterflies that came with the kit. I did that on half of the cards and for the other half I used some of the butterflies that were in the paper collection perforated sheet. Lastly I added some sentiments from the Finnabair Art Daily Planner Sentiment Booklet and added some snippets of lace on half of them!

There are a variety of projects that you can create with this kit. I just decided that I would create these note cards since I like to add them to swaps , happy mail, or just to say “Hello”! I hope that you enjoyed what I created for my first project using this month’s kit. Keep checking in daily for more projects from my wonderfully talented team mates!! I know you will have lots of great inspiration and I do hope that you will join in this month’s mood board challenge! You can share what you create over at the Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe, there is an album where your entries go in. So try it out! Well I’ll see ya all next Friday with another project!!

Hugs,

Jeanne

Mini Tag Books

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing these adorable mini tag books I created using the August Cards, Tags, & More kit. I had the two sheets left from the beautiful papers from Craft O’Clock so thought they would look super cute as mini books you are able to journal in.

This project came together pretty fast , even if you don’t have this exact collection , you can create something similar by making your own tags, using any ephemera you have on hand or are able to print out some as well as sentiments . I used some sticker sentiments from the Finnabair Sentiments Sticker Book from another past Tres Jolie kit.

On one of the sets, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Seedless Preserves around all of the edges of my tags. I used small pop foam dots on the ephemera I added to the tags. For the sentiments, I used some colored/white card stock to back them onto. I also cut some white card stock to add to the back of the tags to add small photos or just use them to journal on.

This paper collection from Craft O’Clock was very beautiful and considering I wasn’t much for purple, I truly loved creating using this month’s Card, Tags, & More kit. I hope that you all use up every last piece of your papers. Even using scraps , you can come up with some great gift ideas.  I thought also of maybe altering an altoid tin to maybe store these tags books in.

The last thing I did was add some of the beautiful seam binding from the kit on one of the tag books and added some twine on the other one. I also added some of the pearls & bling from the kit. *Note: I didn’t post every single photo on here since they would be too many since I used some of the more narrow tags as well. I did share the main photos though. I hope that you like my project this week. Don’t forget there is still time to join in this month’s sketch challenge going on on the Tres Jolie facebook group. Join in you just might win!!

I will see ya all next time!! Hugs, Jeanne

“This Beautiful Life” August Sketch Challenge Layout

Hello everyone! This week I am back with my project for this month’s sketch challenge for Tres Jolie kits. I originally had created a different layout using one of the beautiful papers from the August Scrapbook Kit which were from AB Studios Diva collection. But I then decided to create a different layout using two other papers only because one of our other designers from our team Rae used the same papers and created a stunning layout so I decided I would just create a different layout using some of the other beautiful papers. Great minds think a like when you have team members with the same ideas for projects *giggle giggle*.

This layout was fairly easy to create. When I first began crafting I always found making layouts to be intimidating even though the same process is used when creating a handmade card. So when I came across these challenges based on a “sketch”, I was able to catch on fairly quick.  So if you are like I was or if you just need a quick idea for a layout, these sketch challenges and mood board challenges make it that much easier to create something beautiful in the process.

I began by  taking some of the Lindy’s Magicals in Bayou Boogie Gold and adding some water to them, and just go long the edges of the papers with a small brush. I also did the same process along the edges of another of the beautiful papers from the kit that I trimmed a little smaller.

I used  the same mixture of magicals and water to the chipboard pieces that I selected for this layout such as the Dusty Attic Ornate Pendant chipboard pieces and the skeleton keys. I set those aside and started on the layout by adhering the smaller design paper that I had cut and used magicals alongside the edges as well.

Once I that was adhered I began by adhering the chipboard with the magicials onto the page following the sketch provided for this month. I then cut and distressed a couple of tags from the cut out page from the collection. I added some gold ribbon from my stash to them.

I added my photo featuring my 4 children whom are my world! I printed it black/white on Matte Photo Paper and used some chipboard to prop it up a little and then adhering one of the 49 & Market stitched frames from a previous kit onto my photo. I then was able to adhere the flowers and ephemera pieces onto the layout. I adhered a decorative strip also to the bottom of the smaller piece of paper. I made a small flower cluster on the right hand top corner and added a resin piece that came in the kit. I loved the sentiment that came in the ephemera kit “This Beautiful Life” so I decided to add that title to my layout.

I do hope that you will enter this sketch challenge this month! You can use any kit or supplies you have to join this challenge. If you do make sure you share with us on the Tres Jolie Kit Club Cafe. This way you have a chance to win something great from Tres Jolie kits! Stay tuned for more projects coming this month from the rest of the Tres Jolie Design Team Members. I myself will be back next week with another project! So stay tuned!!

Jeanne

“Blessed” Ringed Mini Album

Hello crafty friends!! Today I’m sharing the first project I created using the August Card, Tags, & More kit. This kit came with some beautiful papers, cut outs & my favorite was the gold doilies. The entire kit was beautifully put together and very easy to put together.

If you purchased this kit and have never created a ringed mini album, the one thing I can tell you is that this is the easiest kind of mini album that you can create. I think these are fun to make for any level but most definitely for beginners, this is what I would go with.

Here is the process video of how I created mine. I hope you can get an idea of what I did , it honestly is very easy. Everything that Kim put in this kit makes it that easy. Maybe the only thing that took any kind of work was cutting the chipboard she provided to size,  which you can cut yours to any size you would like. Mine measures 8 1/2 X 8 1/2.

I hope that you like what I came up with this month. If you purchased this kit, please don’t forget to share with us your final project on the Facebook page Tres Jolie Kit Club . Also don’t forget to join in this month’s sketch challenge!

I’ll be back next week with my next project. See Ya then….

Hugs,

Jeanne

Rustic Shabby Chic Mini Album for Tres Jolie Kits Mood Board Challenge

Hello crafty friends!! This week I am back to share what I created this month for the the July Mood Board Challenge. I used the stunning July Scrapbook Kit which included the papers from Scrapboys “Dream Garden”! This kit was filled with flowers which I love and I am pretty sure I used all of them with the exception of maybe a few blue ones. I always try not to make my mini albums so chunky but that is always a fail! I can’t help it! I hope u like what I have come up with for this challenge! There is still time for YOU to enter as well! So hurry and share with us what you have created for this mood board challenge!

For the base of this album I used one of the premade chipboard albums from Frank Garcia which is a Memory Hardware Album, it measures 5.5 x 7.5. I usually paint the edges of my albums with Antique White Acrylic Paint but lately I love how the Tonic Studios Embellishment Mousse in Chai Latte.

Its a little light so you might not be able to tell but it does give it a little pop of color and shimmer as well.

I then distressed the edges with my Prima Marketing Distress Tool   and I also used some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the edges as well. This gives it a more rustic look rather than just Shabby Chic.

Once I adhered my papers I began adding some Ivory non brand card stock photo mats backed with American Crafts Pink Textured Card stock and I also added some of the 49&Market Sky Stitched Frames that were in the kit. I did end up cutting up some of the tags from a past kit from Tres Jolie that had the perfect color combo to go with this album. I also used a Dusty Attic Chipboard frame that was also from a past kit. But you can use what ever you want to embellish your album if you don’t have these on hand.

I did use some of the cut outs from the “Dream Garden” sheet. I also used up the rest of the Shabby Chic Bugs from Prima Marketing that were also in the scrapbook kit. I also added some of the  Ballerina Liquid Pearls from Ranger on the wings and body of the resin butterfly, these liquid pearls were also a part of the Scrapbook kit.

Here is a quick video where I share the entire album:

I do hope that you find some inspiration from my project as well as from the other Tres Jolie Designers. If you have never made a mini album and feel intimidated to try it, these premade chipboard albums make it SO MUCH EASIER. I hope you will give it a try and share with us!!

See you all in August!! I’m excited to share my projects with you!!

Mixed Media Acrylic Tag

Hello crafty friends!! Today I am back to share with you this tag that I created using the Acrylic Tag & one of the sheets from the July Scrapbook Kit.

To create this tag I began by fussy cutting all of the images from the cover sheet of the 12×12 papers that came in the Scrapbook kit which are from Scrap Boys Dream Garden collection. Once this was done I applied some white gesso with a foam brush only on the center of the tag and a little on a couple of the corners. Once this air dried I brushed on some DecoArt Media Mister White Shimmer spray.

I wasn’t able to get a photo of the spray bottle but there is a little shimmer on the area where I applied the gesso. The next step I did was mix some of the Lindy’s Magicals Bougainvillea Fuchsia from a previous kit, with some DecoArt Crackle Paste  and used it on a non brand chevron stencil from my stash. Once that dried I assembled the fussy cut images how I wanted them on my tag , most of the time I will take a photo so that I don’t forget how I had them on my tag or even on layouts.  I used some foam dots on the cut pieces to give the tag a more dimensional look which I like how that turned out.

The last thing that I did was add some vintage photos from the Finnabair Vintage Photobooth Sticker Booklet . I cropped them at the corners with the WeRMemory Keepers Corner Rounder and added some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges just as I did around all of the fussy cut images.  I finished it off by covering the photos and making some splatters using the same DecoArt Media White Shimmer spray all around the finished tag.  Then adding a dainty pink lace from my stash and a piece of twine .

I hope that you have enjoyed my blog post today and you feel inspired to create something wonderful with your acrylic tag. I found many ideas on how to create this tag on Pinterest and YouTube.  I will be back next week to share the project I have done for the July Mood Board Challenge. I hope that you will join in on this challenge. See you all then!!

Hugs,

Jeanne

“Just Imagine” Mini Junk Journal

Hello again crafty friends!! Well July is already here and I can’t believe how quick the months seem to by going by! I hope that everyone is doing well and staying home and keeping yourselves safe! Well this month I am excited to share the project that I have been looking forward to creating for some time now. As most of you might that this months kit for the Cards, Tags, & More kit is a mini junk journal kit that I helped Kim put together….just helped a little bit! I loved it! Thanks Kim!! Anyhow on to my project!!

I began by cutting the papers from the 8X8 Stamperia “Imagine” paper pad from the kit. I cut the papers to the sizes of canvas pages and as I was creating , I did end up using a couple papers from a vintage stash I had cut and of course I also used some of the music sheets from the kit. I also did some light stitching on some of the pages not all because I am fairly new at sewing.

Once I finished adhering the paper on the pages, I began making my pockets which included some of the music sheets from the kit, I used lace from the kit & on the last page I used on of the ephemera cards from the kit. I created some tuck spots using the larger tickets from the Tim Holtz Tickets included in the kit, I used the smaller ones on some of the coffee/tea dyed journaling papers (as seen in the above right photo & the bottom left photo the larger ticket). I also did some stamping on the journaling papers.

You will also notice on one of the pages I added the envelope onto the page and added the bingo card inside as a journaling spot and adhered one of the music flares onto the envelope. This was the only flip page I created on this album.

I cut out the tiny tags from one of the 8X8 sheets which I absolutely love tiny tags! I did add some in the pockets & tuck spots but the rest I made a quick tiny tag album adhering them with some twine. I also created a small album from some of the cut outs that to me looked like pages from a book, I binded them with the same twine. I used a few of the milk caps and a lot of the ephemera. To be honest I had to stop myself from trying to use up every last piece of supplies from the kit because I started to notice it was getting too chunky!

I have added a short video to share the entire album but I did want to add that on the cover I used the closure that came with the album, I cut it to fit my album and had adhered it before adding my cover and back page. I also fussy cut one of the beautiful mini art dresses that were printed on one of the pages of the paper pad from the kit. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink and I adhered it with some foam tape, I adhered the Gothic Frame and then added this dress. I had cut also some of the beautiful sentiments that were throughout the papers and chose one for the title of my mini junk journal which read ” The creation of beauty is Art”! Lastly I had already added a different lace on the cover but then last week when I went to my doctor appointment my hubby took me over to one of my favorite consignment stores which I was surprised was open, and found some vintage laces so I came home and added one of these instead! I hope u like how it looks!

Well crafty friends, I sure do hope that you liked this mini junk journal that almost doesn’t look too mini by the size lol but I sure loved creating this small piece of art using this fun kit!! So if you haven’t purchased yours yet , head over to the Tres Jolie website before they sell out!! I’ll be back on Friday with another fun project using the July Scrapbook kit!!

Hugs,

Jeanne
