Art Journaling Layout Page

Hello crafty friends!! Today I’m super excited to share with you this project!! I’ve actually been pretty excited since I received the Card, Tags, & More Kit  for January, plus the other two kits from past art journaling kits from Tres Jolie!! So a BIG “THANK YOU” KIM!!!! AGAIN LOL!  Anyhow with all that excitement I was anxious to begin my journey with art journaling and I watched tons of YouTube videos, pinned a lot on Pinterest of what I myself felt I wanted to create with art journaling. I found that I was directed to art journal using magazine cut outs. That’s just one idea that I loved, even if its just one small image like I did on this project!

I did record majority of the process of how I created this but somewhere along the long the line I spaced out to unpause (is that a word lol)  the button on my recording but not too much was missed as I had already made the majority of my project. I hope to get better at recording my projects and editing, I am use to making picture tutorials but I do hope that you enjoy my video!!

As I might have mentioned before, I am just beginning my adventure in art journaling and mixed media. I had been trying to get the confidence to attempt it but was too intimidated. So if you are contemplating like I was, don’t wait any longer! Just GO FOR IT! You will love it just like I have!!

Till next week my crafty friends!! ~Hugs~ Jeanne

Shabby Chic Mixed Media Art Daily Journal Cover

Happy New Year Crafty Friends!! I’m starting this year with some thing just a little different than I’m use to creating. I have always loved the concept of mixed media art. I’m always too intimidated by it even though everyone I watch and get inspired by say ” There is no wrong way to do it” but I’ve just decided to take that leap this year especially creating using the beautiful kits I received from Kim.

(May Cards, tags and More Kit)

Although the journal cover I created was mainly using projects from past kits, I just wanted the initial cover to be a representation of me.  You will be seeing the rest of the great products from the Cards, Tags & More kit in my upcoming projects. So I really hope that you will love all of the textures , & how dimensional my cover is.

I used a variety of products and items to create this. I did learn fairly quick that the Gesso I used wasn’t thick enough to cover the journal even with 2 coats, so I applied crackle paint, crackle paste, and more gesso. What I do love about mixed media is if you make a “mistake” or change your mind about something that’s already on it, you can cover up and start again.

I used lace, a stencil from one of the past kits, some Art Pebbles , crackle mediums, & texture sand to create a variety of textures through out the outside of the cover and small spots on the inside of it.

On the inside I did use the Nuvo Mousse from a past kit , around the edges of the inside of the cover as well as the center. I did use it on the inner spine area too since I didn’t want to use paper on that area. The paper used was from my stash.

I love flowers so I added some variety ones on my cover as well as one of the metal flowers that came in this months Cards, Tags, & More kit on the spine, with an added bling piece on it’s  center, on the spine.  Then added the extra embellishments such as buttons, some more of the clear art pebbles, and a beautiful cameo piece that I absolutely love!

Lastly I added the vellum sheet from the flower packaging just to for added interest to an already textured area underneath it. Finishing of with splatters of black and some Prima “Sugar” on my flowers.

I do hope that you like what I came up with on my 1st project of the year. Stay tuned for some different but fun creations from me as I step out of my comfort zone, to a point that is!! ~Hugs~ Jeanne

See you next week!!

Vintage Christmas Cards

Hello crafty friends! This week I’m back with a set of 4 Christmas cards using the December Cards, Tags, & More Kit . I was originally going to bring you my tutorial but decided to hold that off till next week instead!

I absolutely love this kit! Of course I love them all! But this kit is amazing and when I first received it I was bombarded with ideas in my mind of what I would do with it! I had already set aside the beautiful images that I used from Pion Design Papers “Grandma’s Attic” .  I knew I would use them on some cards for Christmas because the friends receiving these cards would love these just as much as I do.

These cards measure 4 1/4 X 5 1/2, I used the red and green card stock from the kit for my base. Of course then used some of the 8X8 Tim Holtz Noel Paper pad . I did add some of the flowers from the kit on 2 of the cards and ephemera. Finished them off by adding some liquid pearls as well as some Stickles in Gold and Silver.

I hope that you enjoyed my project this week and will keep your eyes peeled for my tutorial next week that I promised! I saved the best for last since it will be Christmas Eve ! Now I gotta run and make the post office before it gets later, I’m always a procrastinator when mailing Christmas cards! ~Hugs~ Jeanne

P.S. Our YouTube Hop with Blue Fern Studios is still going on so check out the link to my YouTube video ! This hop ends on Friday December 20th so hurry up and check it out!!

Christmas Gift Card Holders

Happy Holidays crafty friends! This week I’m back to share with you a simple project that I created using the December Cards, Tags, & More Kit. Since the holidays are here sometimes we don’t know what kind of gift to give so we settle on giving them a store gift card, in my case I’ll be using these to give my grandsons gift cards to a game store.

These gift card holders measure 3.5 x 4.75. I used the 12×12  black/white card stock that came in the kit as my base and used the papers from the 8×8 Tim Holtz paper pad for the inside . I selected a different pattern of the paper pad to use as my pocket where the gift card will go. I did use vintage photo distress ink from Tim Holtz to distress all of the edges of my papers.

I then began embellishing it using the black paper doilies that came in the kit as well.  I adhered it to the spine and then adhering it to the front and back. Before completely adhering it on the front and back however , I added my ribbons that would be my closure. I did cut my black one a little too small but its okay, I’m sure my grandson won’t judge me on that (haha)!

I then added picked out the beautiful pieces of ephemera that came in the kit. I added them to the front and one piece to on the inside. I then finished them off adding a flower from the kit which are super cute and I also added a small flat back pearl on the front just as an added interest.

I do hope you enjoyed what I came up with this week using this magnificent kit! My next post next week I will be bringing you a tutorial so I hope you will join me again. Till then please come back and enjoy the rest of the Tres Jolie designers and their amazingly beautiful projects now for the holidays!! There are still kits available so its not too late for you to still make some of these easy gift cards! The links to all of the Tres Jolie sites are down below!! Altered Wooden Box with Cards, Tags & Address Book/Journal

Hello crafty friends!!! This month I’m back with a super adorable project that I created using the Tres Jolie Scrapbook Kit  .  This project is for this months Mood Board Challenge. I decided to alter a wooden box. This box measures 8×8. I do plan to add more cards, envelopes, & tags. I just wanted to create just a few to show something and not an empty box haha!!

In this project I was inspired by Frank Garcia a designer for Prima Marketing. He did a similar design for a mini album parcel that I subscribe to. I just added all of the flowers and other small elements.  I took the wooden box that came with this kit, note these weren’t the papers for that parcel.

I really enjoyed altering this box. I made some 3×3 cards with envelopes , tags that I had in my stash, I added some papers from the collection to them, they came with some twine so I added that to the box, I also altered a small hardcover notepad. I couldn’t find a smaller notepad at the time and of course after I altered this one I came across smaller ones that I had in my hoard. No worries this one came out nice. This can be used as an address book or just a journal.

I do hope that you were inspired to create something like this!! If you would like to see a tutorial on this please check out my blog @ Jeannie In A Bottle Blog  These sorts of projects make great gifts for the holidays, birthdays, keepsakes, etc. I do hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family as I will do with mine, although my daughter and her family will be spending it with her other family but my sons will be here and I’m not too upset cuz I get to have her for Christmas . Talk to you all soon ~Hugs~ Jeanne

Sounds of Autumn Interactive Cards

Hello again crafty friends! Jeanne here again sharing a couple of interactive cards that I created using the beautiful papers from the Cards, Tags,  & more,

This collection was my 1st one that I’ve had the opportunity to work with and I must say that out of all of what I used I was able to make a variety of multiple projects plus I also have a lot left over for future projects!

I really loved the cut outs and tags the A4 collection packet. With these I got the idea to make them interactive. The card on the left has the sentiment that translates the Italian words into, ” Autumn is the second spring when each leaf is a flower”, and the one on the right says ” Among all the leaves of autumn, I can recognize the only one that, instead of falling, has tried to fly”.

I began by cutting one of the 12×12 kraft card stock that came in the Cards, Tags,  & more  November kit. I chose to make my cards 5×7 & 4 1/4 X 5, so I cut my card stock , one at 10×7 and the other 8 1/2 X 5 and scored it which my martha stewert scoreboard and tool on  5 and 4 1/4. (photos show only one card but instructions are for both, process for both cards are basically the same)

I picked out 2 different designs from the paper collection and trimmed it  1/8 th of an inch less all around than the kraft base. I also have cut out 6 cut out tags for both cards and the one with the sentiment in the center of the card first, on the other two I left about an 1/8th of an inch lip on the edges of these tags. The only one that I did cut at the exact lines was the center on. Once these other two are cut you will score and fold them to where they will fit on the edge of the center one, once you have done this you can adhere them to the one that will be one the center on the back then adhere it to the design paper on you base.

I hope that I have explained that correctly and that you understand what I was hoping these would turn out like. You just need to end up with the sides being able to open to expose the center sentiments of the card.

I then just added ribbon one one and twine on the other for the closure and cut up also a different color card stock for the inside.  If you do want to try to create this but don’t understand my instructions, please feel free to contact me thru social media or my email which is rodriguezjeanne72@yahoo.com & I can try to explain it better. It isn’t hard at all.

I do hope that you enjoyed my very first tutorial for Tres Jolie and that you will give it a try if you purchased this kit. These make great greeting cards with a beautiful secret sentiment inside the center.

See you all soon!! ~Hugs~ Jeanne

Dancing in the leaves

Hello again crafty friends! Jeanne here up on the blog, I’m back this week with a couple tags that I really enjoyed creating. Using the beautiful kit from the Cards, Tags, And More, I was truly inspired to keep the tags intact and not cut them smaller.

I love stamped images and don’t have a whole lot of them but the ones I do have I love to paper piece & if you have never tried it, I suggest u do especially if your intimidated by coloring images as I am. I do color the skin using Spectrum Noir Copic Markers. Aside from the cute Gorjuss girl images I layered papers from the kit on one of the tags as well as using the packaging from some Prima Marketing flowers from the kit on another tag.

Here are some photos I took as I was creating these, I applied Nuvo Mousse, colors Custard CreamToasted Almond  on the edges of the tags. I then added some of the papers from the kit. I used lace from the kit, I cut out some sentiments from one of the papers , some of the Prima leaves packet from the kit and other embellishments you might see on my tags.

These were super fun to create & if you would like to learn how to paper piece these or other stamped images, I am happy to do a tutorial or you can find many on YouTube. I do hope that you like what I have created with this beautiful kit from Tres Jolie. Continue reading “Dancing in the leaves”

Memories Of My Mother By: Jeanne Rodriguez

Hi Tres Jolie family! Jeanne here today on the Tres Jolie blog with my first design team project! I was super thrilled when I received my very first kit from Kim! I am creating using the Cards, Tags, & more and absolutely love the papers I used from Ciao Bella Papers!

It was the perfect collection at this time not only because of it being fall and the colors are stunning but November is a special month for me. It is a bittersweet thing because on November 9th it would have been my moms 95th birthday but on November 8th 2017 was when she passed away. I wanted to create something in her memory so I came up with an altered embroidery hoop.

I loved that background paper I used out of the A4 paper pad from Ciao Bella Sounds of Autumn , I did some fussy cutting of some of the leaves as well as using some of the leaves from Prima Marketing Fall Pine pack & Prima Marketing Autumn Sunset pack which came in this beautiful kit.

If you would like to take a look at my unboxing video you can do so  here . I do hope that you like what I have created as my first project using this kit and I’m excited to share with you the rest of my upcoming projects this month!

So a big “THANK YOU”  for taking time to read my blog post today!!  I’ll be back!! ~Hugs~ Jeanne
