“Beautiful Love” Circle Card

Hello friends,

Glad to be back with another fun project using the September Cards, Tags & More kit. Today I’d like to share a cute circle card I made – without cutting dies! Believe it or not, I don’t have any circle dies, so I had to resort to using two bowls from my kitchen (clean, of course! LOL) – one larger and one a bit smaller. I traced them onto my card base, making sure the top was over the base fold line, and then cut my patterned paper using the same “technique”.

I then layered a paper doily from my stash, various elements from the included cut-out sheets, seam binding, and a quick sentiment.

The last touch was to dry brush white paint (with a sponge dauber – it allows more control), art stones (Prima), and paint splatters – and Wella! All done! This was a fun, quick card, and I like the round shape.

Thanks for visiting today. Please make sure to come back and see the gorgeous projects my other design teammates are creating this month. We feature a new project almost every day here on the blog!

Steampunk layout

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing a steampunk layout created with the September 2020 scrapbook kit. The papers from Scrapboys are amazing and have kind of a steampunk feel. I’m really loving with this kit.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

This is the second layout I created based on the September mood board.

Here is the mood board:

How about some close-ups:

I created several layers of different sizes using 3 different sheets of paper. I distressed the edges slightly. The chipboard piece from the kit was covered in clear gesso (this helps the embossing ink adhere), then embossing ink and a tw0-toned embossing powder and heat set. I love the way it turned out.

Here you can see where I used 2 different size doilies (from my stash) as layers under my photo. I love how they make the photo pop. I think the mask was a great little touch.

Here is the floral cluster (all flowers are from the kit), the key is a nice touch. You can see more of the embossed chipboard here as well. It really shines under the flowers..

Tres Jolie Kit Club–September Mixed Media Kit-Spinel Panel

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog!

This week I’m bringing you a little panel I created using items from this month’s mixed media kit as well as items from my stash!

The script on my background is from the Finnabair “Read My Letter” stencil from my stash, but I did use the TCW Gel from this month’s kit with it.

This project went together rather quickly and easily, to see how it was done, check out my video!

Video:

After I had all the parts I wanted glued down to my background (the TCW Gel from the kit makes a great glue!) I coated it all with some white gesso, then started adding on my mediums; starting with the Lindy’s Gang from the kit.

I mixed the beads from the kit with more of the TCW Gel and brushed them onto the Prima flower vine. It makes me think of water droplets on the petals!

As you saw in the video, I was able to use items from previous Tres Jolie Kits to put this panel together! I love the fact that at the “end” of my Mixed Media Kit I have mediums left to add into my stash and use at a later date!

I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of what can be done with items from this month’s Mixed Media Kit!

Stay Crafty, Friends

September Mixed Media Kit:

In addition to items from this month’s Mixed Media kit (*from previous Tres Jolie kits), I used:

Prima/Finnabair “Read My Letter” Stencil, *Mechanicals “Flowers,” *Opal Magic Wax “Vintage Silk,” *Metallique Wax “Vintage Gold,” Heavy White Gesso, Tim Holtz 7” Scissors, a piece of scrap material that had been used as packing material!

ATC Lovin’!

Michelle here, playing with ATCs today!

I was so excited to see the Prima ATCs in the September mixed media kit!  When I sat down to work on them my mind just went nuts and I had so much fun creating!

Since I love a vintage shabby look I started with my trusty ‘ol white crackle paste from one of my past mixed media kits and just applied it with a pallet knife.

Once that dried (I used a heat gun to speed that along) I laid out where I wanted my prima flowers to go.  Some were.  I knew some would be cut in half so I just overlapped them to the next card since some were quite large flowers.

Next I dug through my ephemera box and got some great vintage looking images, these Tim Holtz paper doll and butterfly images worked great.

Finally I glued them all together and inked up the edges with a bit of the Lindy’s gang ink using the sponge applicator attachment.

To finish them off I added some sentiment stickers (these are some that I had in my stash by “A Vintage Girl & Her Daughter)

I really love how beautiful they all look laid out together but I know they will be a perfect addition to a gift or a sweet little pick-me-up for a friend.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are inspired to make something beautiful!

Autumnal Birdcage

Happy Tuesday friends,

I’m excited to share this sweet little autumnal project with you today.  I used the Prima Marketing birdcage from the September Mixed Media kit, as well as scraps of paper and practically all the florals from the September Cards, Tags & More kit – this kit is sooooo beautiful, and jammed packed with luscious Fall colors!

The first step was to detach the back portion of the birdcage and give the entire unit a thick coat of gesso (I used Heavy Gesso). I then applied an equally thick coat of crackle paste to both pieces.

After drying, I began adhering “the oh-so-pretty” Prima flowers along with leaves and other elements I punched out of the 49th & Market cutout sheet. I also added flowers to the base on the inside and glued a little birdie from the elements sheet on top.

I then used Soft Gel Medium to glue a couple of paper scraps and butterflies to the back piece.  I then finished the top with seam binding (included in the Card, Tags & More kit!) and another flower.

This was such a fun, FUN project! I hope you purchase these kits and set aside time to just play, play, play! There are so many fun items included. I had a hard time deciding which to use and which to hoard…LOL!

Mixed Media Madness

Hey everyone, Kim here. I’m serving up some mixed media madness this Monday morning. I worked with the September 2020 Mixed Media kit.

Here is the Mixed Media kit if you haven’t already seen it:

Here is the project I created with the kit:

How about some close-ups:

I loved working with this birdcage. I painted it with 2 layers of gesso (from a past mixed media kit). The added 2 layers of acrylic paint in vintage rose. I dry brushed on some sparks paint in butterfly spells in random spots (also used it on the bird).

I adhered the floral vine from the kit down the side. I stuck in some smaller lighter pink flowers (from my stash) in between flowers in the vine. I also added some cheesecloth. At the bottom of the vine, I added flowers from the kit. The silver beads are from my stash.

I used the spray to add some splatters to the alpha cards from the kit. You can see a close up on my painted bird.

On the inside you can see how I used the alpha cards as monograms for mine and hubby’s first names. I added the “25” plaque (from my stash) as this photo is from the day we renewed our wedding vows for our 25th anniversary. I added the silver beads to each side instead of brads. The flowers and leaf are from the flower pack in the kit.

“Be Authentic” Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, fellow crafters!

By now you’ve seen our September scrapbook features the gorgeous Industrial Romance collection by Scrapboys- I’m so in love with it! (So much so, I just had to buy another kit because I have several projects I want to make with this wonderful paper and all the gorgeous embellishments Kim has included!  Here’s my second project I have made with the September kit:

I have wanted to scrap a picture of this amazing sculpture by Penny Hardy from her Blown Away series.  Hardy uses old machine parts as the base for her sculptures and I think they can be perfectly showcased the September kit!

I started the base of this layout with three background papers for layers- I used a Martha Stewart “punch around the page” punch for the scalloped look for the top large layer.  The used a black journaling pen on the little holes for a faux stitch look.

The other layers are banners that I cut by hand.  (I could really use some banner dies. 🙂 )  I also used some of the Prima ATC cards from the mixed media kit.

There are three pieces of chipboard on this layout, and they were all “treated” differently.  The clock is Dusty Attic (from my stash)- I inked it with archival black ink and randomly applied some white gold wax. Most of the flowers are from the kit (Prima), except for the blue flowers- those are from my stash (Petaloo).

For the Scrapaholics swirly gears piece, I used embossing powder- Frantage Aged Bronze, and then once dry, I added some darkish Prima metallic paint and before it was dry, I used a tissue to wipe off some of the blue paint.

For the last piece of chipboard, the Scrapaholics butterfly collage, I inked it with grey archival ink, painted it with some more of the same blue metallic Prima paint, then added some Frantage Aged Black embossing powder randomly.

I also painted the Prima wings and key with the blue paint from my stash, then added some white gold wax.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

“Industrial Romance” Hot Air Balloon Mood Board Challenge

Hello again crafty friends! This week I am excited to share with u all this month’s project for the Mood Board Challenge for Tres Jolie Kits! For this project I used the September Scrapbook Kit. This beautiful kit is not only a vintage feel but a steampunk one too!

When I first seen this kit I immediately got the idea I wanted to create a paper Hot Air Balloon. This project had been on my crafty bucket list for a while now when I seen the one that Miranda MsLiberty25 created. I followed her tutorial for the hot air balloon its self. I knew I wanted to add an airship instead of a basket or gondola. So while looking around online, I came across a shop on Etsy who sold some wooden 3-D puzzles. So looking around on their shop, I came across a couple different models, I chose the cheaper and best size I figured would work best. It was a 176 piece puzzle that my husband and I enjoyed creating!! We are now thinking we want to purchase more for us to do together and perhaps get some for our grandsons.

I absolutely loved creating this hot air balloon and found this month’s kit went so well with the mood board that Kim has chosen for this month! I do hope that you will enter the challenge this month since it is still open the rest of this month. So I hope that you will join in.

I hope that you have been inspired by the project I created this month for the challenge! This month the rest of the team members of Tres Jolie created some wonderful projects so I hope you check out this blog daily where you can find more inspirational projects. Till next time!! Xoxo

Tres Jolie Kit Club–September Mood Board-Loaded Envelope

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog!

Today I’m bringing you a Loaded Envelope I made using this month’s scrapbooking kit & the moodboard! I just love the “Industrial Romance” papers from ScrapBoys in this month’s kit. They are the perfect combination of steampunk & flowers, and just great to look at and play with!

I used the solid cardstock (from my stash) to build the envelope, then used the papers from the kit on the envelope, tags, and wands. Check out the video below where I describe the completed envelope. Below the video you will find the September Moodboard and some more photos!

Video:

September 2020 Tres Jolie Kit Club Moodboard

Here is my envelope with three pockets. The final size is 9in x 6in (after all the photos I have included a sketch of the measurements), with the second pocket 4 1/2in and the third pocket 3in. The sketch is the measurements for the basic construction, the only thing no included in the sketch is the 9in x 6in piece of cardstock I used as the top of the back pocket; the one folded down with the zipper.

This is the front and back of the shaker wand I created using a ReneaBouquets Small Shaker Box. I used the professor from the Tim Holtz “The Professor” stamp set (from my stash) on the back piece of acetate and one of the small wings from the Mechanicals found in this month’s kit as the moustache, then back that with a square of paper from the ScrapBoys stack in the kit. The large key in the shaker is from this months kit, but all the other parts are from my stash. For the back I added Tim Holtz’s “Voltage” die, which is painted using Prima’s “Steampunk Copper” Paint and spray with the Lindy’s Gang from the kit. And all of the copper “welding”? It’s Tulip Fabric Paint – Beads In A Bottle – “Copper”!

For the Hummingbird Wand I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store, a Tim Holtz Rosette, some pieces from the cut apart sheet, and a ReneaBouquets Hummingbird. For the lacy wand I just grabbed up some lace from my stash and added another Tim Holtz Rosette and a cut apart pieces as well.

And finally here are the tags and little note card I made to go in the pockets! I just eye-balled the sizes based on the paper I was working with!

The measurements for my envelope.

Thank you for joining us here at Tres Jolie! I hope you enjoyed this project and it gave you some ideas of what can be done with items from this month’s kit! Don’t forget to join us for the moodboard challenge!

Altered Art Card Box

Happy Hump Day to ya!!  This is Michelle, and today I am sharing a happy little Altered Box for your ATCs!  The Prima ATCs that came in the September mixed media kit came in this great sturdy little box that was itching to be used in an awesome way.

I used the TCW Gloss Gel Medium and mixed in the glass beads to create a great texture gel.  Since I wanted it to be tinted I sprayed the gel mixture with a bit of the Lindy’s spray and mixed it all up before spreading it on the cover of the box as well as my Prima flowers.  I also brushed on some of the gloss gel to the spine and sprinkled some glitter for some extra shine.

You can see the entire process in the video below.

Thanks for stoping by today and I hope you are inspired to create something beautiful!!
