May Sketch Challenge Layout By Jeanne

Hello friends!! Today I am sharing my Sketch Challenge for this month! I love creating from the ideas that Kim puts together, they are so much fun to do!

For my project I started by adding some Gold pigment ink onto the edges of the 12X12 paper that I used, which was from one of my favorite collections from Prima Marketing  “Salvage District” . I also stamped some roses using the same ink around my page.  Once it dried I backed up my layout onto a 12×12 chipboard sheet. I then added some Lindy’s Stamp Gang T-Bird Turquoise Flat Spray Lindy’s Stamp Gang T-Bird Turquoise Spray

I used a paint brush to apply this color since I didn’t want it too bright. I then added other papers from the collection where my photo mat will be. I added some Prima Marketing flowers & leaves, I also added some of Wooden embellishments from the Salvage District collection as well as some flat back pearls. Lastly adding some black flourish die cuts I had left from another project .

I hope that you will join in to this challenge! There is still time and make sure you join and post to the Tres Jolie Kit Club Page on Facebook ! All links are below!

See ya next time!!

Tres Jolie Kit Club-May 2020 Mixed Media Kit-Summer Vase

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! Today I’m bringing you a summer vase using an upcycled jar, mediums from the mixed media kit, and papers from April’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit!

DSC_0001-FRAMED-SQUARE

I absolutely loved the Ciao Bella papers that came in April’s Cards, Tags, & More Kit! I loved, loved, loved the lemons with the dark blue! And it worked out that the Little Birdie wax in this month’s Mixed Media Kit was a perfect complement! Check out my video to see this summer vase come together!

After I coated the jar with the Little Birdie “Golden Glaze,” wrapped the papers around the jar, and adhered the image to the lid, I used Tim Holtz’s “Crazing” Medium (from my stash) as my topcoat. I then rubbed the Little Birdie wax all over, giving the “Golden Glaze” paint a blue hue and really bringing out the “cracks” from the “Crazing”!

DSC_0003-FRAMED

The lid and lace are a permanent part of the piece! I used E6000 & some gel medium to hold it where I wanted, at the angle I wanted!

DSC_0006-FRAMED

For the most part, I will try to upcycle anything! Who knows how old this jar was, but it has found a new purpose!

Unique Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today I’m sharing my last layout that I made with the May scrapbook kit.  The Hazy Street collection from Craft o’Clock is a blast to play with with it’s beautiful blue green hues and vintage images… swoon!

To get started, I chose to follow the lovely May sketch created by Kim:

And, here’s what I came up with:

This is my favorite piece of paper from the Hazy Street collection- I thought it looked perfect as it is, so I didn’t use any mixed media techniques on it, except for some script stenciling that you can see peeking out from under the clusters.  It’s subtle, but worth adding. You can see a bit in the close up below:

I added one of the tag images from the paper to the chipboard frame, and inked it up a bit with brown and black chalk inks.  That larger flower is from the kit- it was on the Prima vine.  And the small blue roses are from my stash.  The chipboard is also from my stash- I used black archival ink and pressed it onto the pieces for the distressed effect. Tip: if you don’t have any chipboard swirls at home but would like to recreate the look, you could use any die cut machine to cut the images from Kraft paper, then use archival ink like I did.

I had cut out tags from the paper, and used those for my matting of the photo, which is a stock photo that I purchased from Etsy.  I printed it, ripped it, and busted out my Prima distress tool to rough up the edges of the picture.

That metal piece is from my stash (Prima) that I used some green matte wax on as well as some black ink for shading.

I added a lot of the Hazy Street printed chipboard in this cluster, including the circles, and both of the frames, which I inked with black and brown chalk inks.

Tres Jolie Kit Club–May 2020 Sketch

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! Today I’m bringing you a quick little layout I created for this month’s sketch challenge!

DSC_0001-FRAMED

I had a very craft-filled May, and by the time I got to this project I had one whole sheet of the beautiful Craft o’Clock paper left! There was a time when the thought of using such a “busy” pattern as a background would have terrified me, but I have learned sometimes less is more, so I kept everything else simple! (Sketch below the video)

Check out my video for the process!

DSC_0002-FRAMED

Behind the smaller cluster in the upper-left corner and behind the photo layers I added a touch of stenciling using the “Golden Glaze” paint (mixed with some 13@rts MAGIC! Powder) and a homemade texture paste that contains some of the “Caribbean Teal” paint, both [paints] from this month’s mixed media kit. Also, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the teal flowers on this layout were from the Prima “vine” that came in the kit! Don’t be afraid to cut things apart if needed to make them work better for your purpose!

DSC_0007-FRAMED

I didn’t want to just plant the photo directly on the background, so I used some torn pieces of papers from the kit, some tissue paper, and the square, white frame from the chipboard (cut apart!) behind the photo! Then I added one of the chipboard tabs!

DSC_0006-FRAMED

The beautiful black and gold butterflies were the final touch needed for this layout! They provide just the right amount of accent!

May Mood Board Challenge By Jeanne

Hello crafty friends!! TGIF right?!?! I hope that you all have a wonderful week and have a better weekend! This week I wanted to create something for this month’s mood board challenge for Tres Jolie.

The moment I seen this mood board I knew exactly what products I would be using! Here is what I came up with! I hope you like it!!

I created this layout for this month’s Mood Board Challenge using a paper collection from Pink Paislee called Auburn Lane  . I thought this collection was perfect for this month’s mood board. I did think of another collection too but it was more of a vintage look and I didn’t have 12×12 sheets for a layout.

I layered different papers as well as tore some up & inked all of the edges with Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I then mixed up some of the Finnabair Texture Powder from on of our last kits with some of the 13@arts white gesso and applied to to the Finnabair Stencil from another of the Tres Jolie Kits. Stenciled a few areas then added some Prima Bloom Spray in Precious Stone color which to me gives off a dark green shimmer and sprayed some water to get the color to run in other areas. I must say it did end up more than what I wanted but no worries, I still managed to save it!

I then began embellishing using some fussy cut flowers I cut from the collection as well as flowers from another Tres Jolie kit. I also used some Lindy’s embossing powder, chipboard windows, metal clock piece, a 49& Market flower vine, all from past kits as well. I added some stickers images inside the windows. I also added some lace and cheese cloth and a button on the clock piece as well.

I do hope that you like what I created this month for the Mood Board challenge! Don’t forget to join!! I will be back next week with my sketch board challenge entry! See ya then!! Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!!

~Hugs~

Tres Jolie Kit Club–May 2020 Moodboard–Art Journal

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! Today I have an Art Journal spread I created based on this month’s mood board!

**Note: The photos are pinker than in real life, the video shows the colors much better. What I’ve learned is to be more awake when editing…

DSC_0001-FRAMED
I have a little something from every May kit on this 2-page spread! Mediums from the Mixed Media kit, the clock & papers from the Scrapbooking kit, and papers from the Cards, Tags, & More kit!

Here is the mood board, and below it, you will find a video!

Mood Board

Check out my video to see how I did this spread & to get a better representation of the colors!

DSC_0002-FRAMED

Here is a close-up of the left page. Some of the papers were torn, some were cut with a circle die, and I fussy cut the phrase!

DSC_0003-FRAMED

Here is the right page. The chipboard clock came from the May 2020 Scrapbooking kit and I painted it with the “Caribbean Teal” paint from the May 2020 Mixed Media kit! The gold stenciling is the “Golden Glaze” paint, also from the May 2020 Mixed Media kit, mixed with some 13@rts MAGIC! Powder.

The more teal colored papers came from the scrapbooking kit, while the soft rose-colored papers are from the Cards, Tags, and More kit! (Below are photos of all three kits!)

May sketch challenge layout

Hey Guys, Kim here. Today I am sharing a layout created with the May 2020 scrapbook kit. The new papers from Craft O’Clock are amazing. I really love the color story. Another kit I’m really enjoying working with . It is definitely my style.

If you haven’t seen the kit, here it is:

Here is the layout I created with it:

This layout is based on the May sketch.

Here is the sketch:

How about some close-ups:

Here I did a bit of stenciling with some black crackle. I added a cardboard pieces from the cardboard ephemera set. I heat embossed the chipboard piece from my stash.  I used some vintage copper embossing powder on it.

The flowers are from from my stash. I like how they add texture to the layout.

Here you can see a close up of the gorgeous chipboard. More flowers from my stash and the black resin piece is from a past kit.

This handsome young man is my nephew, who was just recently taken from us by someone who thought is was ok to rob him just because they wanted what he had.

So to get through my grief, I have been scrapping pictures of him and remembering what an amazing person he was. He had been through so much (health wise)in his 32 years, but he always had a smile on his face. You will see a lot more of him in the future.

“Always” Layout with Rae

Happy Sunday, craft people!

Today I’m sharing another layout I made using the May scrapbooking kit.

This Hazy Street collection by Craft o’Clock is so beautiful, and this was my favorite piece of paper from the collection.

I started out by adding some stenciling using an older damask stencil and some white crackle paste.  Once dry, I randomly sprayed some Nuvo Mica Mist in Pampas Grass across the page for a subtle effect. In the close up below, you can see some of the spray, but it really does flawlessly blend in with the design of the paper.  I also used that spray on the title, which is a piece of chipboard from my stash that I inked black and then sprayed the Nuvo spray again. (And, if you look really close, you can see some of the spray on the Little Birdie butterfly!)In this closeup below, you can see more of the stenciling, and the piece of Scrapaholics chipboard from the kit.  I painted that thickly with chalk paste for texture, then sprayed it again with my new favorite Nuvo blue-green spray, let it dry, then I scraped a black pigment ink pad over the chipboard to highlight the texture. I also used the same media on the Melissa Frances resin piece with the bee.  You can also see some of the curled green pieces of paper under the 49 and Market flowers.  I don’t usually use those piece that come in the 49 and Market flower packs, but I thought it was time to give them a try!

And, in this closeup, you can see I went a bit wild with all the flowers and embellishments in this huge cluster.

The printed chipboard and the tags are from the Hazy Street collection.  The ivory flowers are from my stash, as well as the small blue doily.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my project!  Be sure to check back on the blog as we continue to share our May projects with you! 🙂

Tres Jolie Kit Club–May 2020 Mixed Media Kit-Butterfly Reels

Hey, all! Welcome back to the Tres Jolie blog! Today I am bringing you my “Butterfly Reels” project where I used three of the VHS reels, the mediums, and the package of Prima Mechanicals, along with items from my stash, to build this steampunk piece!

DSC_0008-FRAMED

I am very happy with how this piece came out! I love mixing the patina and rust effect with the non-aged look of the reels and flowers! Check out the video to see the whole process!

Video:

DSC_0030-FRAMED

In the above photo you can see the ripples created by the paint pour!

DSC_0027-FRAMED

I love Prima’s Rust Effect Paste, and I’m glad I had some on-hand to use with the Mechanicals from this month’s kit! Plus, those butterflies were what I had left from the March Mixed Media Kit!

DSC_0029-FRAMED

I knew parts of my chipboard would overhang, so to give it some extra stability I used “Prima Sculpture Medium” before adding the Rust Effect Paste!

DSC_0031-FRAMED

The longest parts of this project were all the drying times, so I would just set it aside while the glues and mediums dried so I could work on other projects! My final touch was adding some Teal Glass Beads from ReneaBouquets on top of each stack of Mechanicals!

In addition to items from this months kit (*From previous Tres Jolie Kits), I used:

Secret Love Letter Stack

Hello crafty friends! This week I am back with a fun and unique project that I have created a couple times a few years back for a swap with crafty friends! Of course I used this month’s  Cards, Tags, & More kit from Tres Jolie for  this project. I also created a process video that I hope you will find easy to follow.

I absolutely love this paper collection from Ciao Bella “The Muse”! I used all of the 12 x12 paper stack for this project! I used laces, doilies, snippets of laces, beaded trim, the stamp from the kit as well as others from my stash. I used flowers from the kit and others . I also used some rub ons from 7 Gypsies, “Hello” wax stamp, & the beautiful chipboard frames from the kit!

I hope that you enjoyed the project that I came up with this week using this beautiful kit!!
