Havana Cards and the Card Sketch with Rae

Happy Saturday, craft people!

Today I’m sharing a couple of fun cards I made with the August card kit, and, I used the first Tres Jolie card sketch designed by owner Kim Heard. Look at how beautiful it is:

I do love to make cards, but I usually get carried away with the bulkiness of embellishments, so I usually just stick them in a box or a gift bag, and these ones are no exception! 🙂 Here are two I made based on the sketch:

Both cards were made using the same design. I started with two layers and added some distressing and chalk ink from my stash. The green is a Tsukinedo Dew Drop ink pad in Ocean Oasis, and the Pink is the Prima Old Rose one. I used both chalk inks on the tickets, banners, and the green on the Kaisercraft wood doilies as well.

I added some a doily and some floral die cuts that I cut from the Prima Havana papers. I also added some Dusty Attic chipboard coins (“Smile” on this card, and “Cherish” on the other one.) from my stash. I wanted them to look like pennies so I added some copper wax paste and the green chalk inkl.

To finish off the cards, I added some black and white splatters of India ink.

Here’s the other card- same design, just different papers, and slightly different elements.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope you get a chance to play along with us this month. Details here in the Facebook community.

We’d love it if you used the kits to join the challenges, but if you aren’t already a subscriber, you can still play along with your own supplies. However, consider subscribing! http://tresjoliekits.com/services/

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

This is Me- Sketch Layout by Ginny

Hi all, today I’m sharing my layout I created based on this months challenge sketch.
Kim has created another lovely sketch which fits the August kit perfectly.

I just loved the gorgeous papers in the kit this month, some soft and then some bright and bold.
A lot of these papers were perfect for fussy cutting, creating more elements to use on your layouts and to help create depth.
As usual the kit has been put together with perfectly coordinated embellishments there are flowers rom 48 & Market and Prima. I nice selection of chippies and resin to feature on your pages.
What I love about these kits is the amount of paper you get! If like me you like layers and lots of them then these kits are perfect with lots of coordinated papers included.

So on to my sketch layout. This layout I used the Santorini papers but the softer sides. I kept it quite pink, soft and girlie.

This is the sketch. A lovely sketch open to interpretation but perfect with this kit.

Now I will show you a few close ups and a few notes on what I did with some items from the kit.
This month I have tried very hard to only use August kit products, with only the use of inks, gesso and embossing powders added. We will see how well I did at this as the month goes on! LOL

The music score chipboard piece I cut in half and embossed with a white embossing powder. I then slotted it into my torn paper layers.

We had a lovely pack of gems in some gorgeous colours. The pink ones were perfect for this page. I used them in groups of 3 around the layout. I always use the ‘rule of 3’, things just seem more balanced this way!

I used several different coordinated papers and tore them to get my rough shabby edges, I am not very good with cut edges!
I have then layered them up, showing a little bit of each paper from underneath the one on top.
I then layered some of the beautiful white flower lace in these paper layers as well. It looks so feminine and soft.

I did some faux stitching on this layout with a Distress Marker pen, oopps from my stash..
I drew the dashes around several edges of my paper layers, this is another very easy way to add a little detail to your layouts and perfect if you dont have a sowing machine or cant bare to actually sow on your papers!!

I used a combination of the 49 & Market flower, which are the bigger pink ones and then some smaller Prima flowers. You can see other places I have added the flower lace too.
I also used a punch in odd random places on the edge of my layers to add a little more detail.

Products used on this layout:

From the kit:

* Prima: Santorin Collection: Enjoying the Sun
*Prima: Santorini Collection: Mix & Match
*Prima: Santorini Collection: Summer is around the Corner
* Creative Embellishments: Chipboard: Music Score
* White Flower Lace
* 49& Market Flowers: Shimmer & Shine Blush Jardin Secret
* Prima Flowers: #631994
* Prima: Shabby Chic Treasures: resins: Garden Treasures #892463
* Prima; Say it in Crystals: Santorini: #994280

Other products used:

* Martha Stewart Punch
* Stampendous: Embossing Powder: Detail White
* Tim Holtz: Distress Marker Pen: Hickory Smoke

Thanks for popping by to look at my layout today for Tres Jolie Kit Club.

Card sketch

Hey everyone, it’s Kim. Today I am sharing the cards I made using the card kit and the sketch. I have to say, I’m not the best with cards, so it was good to have a sketch to follow. I’m not sure how that works though. I can create a sketch, but can’t create a card from scratch. Oh well, moving on.

Have you seen our card kit this month? It is amazing!! It features papers from Prima, a die and lots of fun embellishments. Take a look:

There are still  few kits available. You can do a single purchase here or you can subscribe here.

Here is the card sketch for the challenge this month. Make sure you join in on the fun. Post your entry for the card challenge in our Facebook Cafe.

You don’t have to be a kit subscriber to enter, just please don’t enter using products from another kit club.

Here are my takes on the sketch:

How about some close-ups:

Here is that pretty die and my flower cluster. I used the banner tag in the cluster for my sentiment instead of on the bottom.

For my center image on this card, I used the die cut twice and added the wood doily as the main piece. Then I added smaller flowers to accent it.

I love the bakers twine in the kit. The colors are perfect for this bright summery card kit. Plus there is plenty of card stock to make several cards or tags.

That’s all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

“Always Beautiful” Sketch Challenge By Heather Thompson

Hello All, another sketch this month from Tres Jolie so beautiful and elegant.  This sketch showcases elements that could be used from the main kit.

Here is my take on the sketch, I loved the different elements from the paper and did a fair amount of fussy cutting. I am not big fan on detail cutting but some of the papers are just perfect for that.

June Sketch Challenge Winner, and a layout with Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I have a couple of things to share with you. First is the winner of our June sketch challenge: Donna Sergent! Take a look at this beautiful layout:

We LOVED the vintage vibe Donna created with this layout of a sweet young couple. The treatment of the chipboard frame looks amazing! The bits of ephemera and that cameo are perfect, not to mention those butterflies! Congrats, Donna! Your prize will be shipped with your next kit!

And, thanks to all who played along! We were blown away at all the gorgeous entries! Be sure to join us for our July mood board challenge!

I’m also sharing my first project made with the July scrapbooking kit, featuring the lovely Lemoncraft Violet Silence paper collection. For this layout I used the June Sketchabilities sketch.

I started out by cutting up the “wood” panel background paper in strips along wood lines, then I used a paper distress and added some brown distress ink along the edges for added dimension.

For my layers, I added the doilies from the kit, some paper layers, and added the Prima Marketing resin frame to the picture. I topped of the layers with butterflies I cut from one of the papers, the cream and purple 49 and Market flowers, as well as some small coordinating flowers from my stash. I also added the title “Shine” from my stash as well, which is a Dusty Attic piece that treated by adding some wax paste.

I added some stenciling of bricks to peek out from under the design. I used white crackle paste, then lightly used a foam applicator with brown distress ink over the crackles after the paste was dry.

I treated the Dusty Attic chipboard scroll by covering it with a thick layer of the Nuvo drops from the kit. While wet, I added a combination of gold and black embossing powder while the Nuvo drops will till wet, then used a heat tool to dry it- I let it bubble up to create this distressed old metal look.

I added the leaves under the flower cluster before gluing on the chipboard to the paper to create more dimension.

For this bottom cluster I added the smaller Prima resin frame, a tiny purple flower from my stash, and a Lemoncraft flair button to repeat some of the features from the main cluster on the layout.

June Sketch Layout By Phyllis

Hi Crafty Friends!  Phyllis here again to share my layout for the June Sketch Challenge at Tres Jolie!  I used 13 Arts papers to create this layout!  13 Arts papers~Frosty Morning,  In the Garden,  Cold Day and Sending Flowers.

I begin with adding White Crackle Texture paste thru a stencil,  then I ink stamped for added interest.  I wanted 13 Arts In the Garden design to show thru so I tore Frosty Morning paper and tucked In the Garden behind so it was peeking thru.

Then I got my die machine out and cut out 2 doilies for some layering,  for the doilie I used 13 Arts Cold Day paper this brought a nice pop to the design!

I then cut some photo matting from Sending Flowers and a couple tags.   I loved 13 Arts back of In the Garden it has beautiful Leaves,  I decided to fussy cut a few to add to the Prima Flowers.  And for a darker pop of color I added some Black trim from the June Kit.  One more embellishment I added was from the Prima Shabby Chic trinket pack,  it added a nice touch to this layout reminded me of a garden.  Once everything was in place I glued it all down and then added some splatters of black ink spray.

The papers in Tres Jolie June Kit are so Elegant and have a vintage feel to them,  you will love them!  There are so many options to create your memories with!  Hope you get a chance to create with this beautiful kit!  Be sure to enter your creation for the June Sketch Challenge!

June Sketch Layout with Ginny

Hello everyone!

Ginny here with you today, to share with you my sketch layout for the challenge this month here at Tres Jolie!

Here is the sketch:

Dont you agree it’s a gorgeous sketch to get the inspiration going? Carry on reading further down this blog post for details on how you can enter this months challenge.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch

Photo Tutorial

I have done a step by step photo tutorial of my process making this layout.

I chose my backing papers, this one – Misty Foils.

and this one – The Good news.

After trimming 1cm off from round all sides of the paper, I then heavily distressed it – to the point some of you will think I’ve torn it!

Layer this paper up on top of the ‘The Good News’ paper

I cut some small pieces of the lace, about 1 1/2″ and slotted them into the bigger gaps/tears round the edges of the top background paper. This is a cheat, it makes it look like there is a border of lace in between the background papers but saves you on the amount of lace used so you loads more lace for another project!

I used the chipboard piece, I painted it first with gesso and then when dry I heat embossed it with a white and silver embossing powder.

I placed my photo through the chipboard oval and glued it on the layout.

I cut a piece of the beautiful lace to fit the length of my top background paper and glued into position. I splatted the background with some drops of one of the alcohol inks from the Mixed Media kit.

I added a doily behind the photo and chipboard on the left.

I then used the pack of gorgeous pink paper roses ( I loved the leaves in this too)

I made an arrangement round the bottom left side of the photo/frame…

and a smaller one round the top right of the photo/frame

I bent the curled wires into a rounded shape

and added them into the flower clusters

I love these Shabby Chic Garden Treasures and used the ladder and the watering can in this layout.

I added the watering can to the left side of the layout, tucking it underneath some of the leaves.

Now for the little details… the microspheres I dropped into some gel medium dotted around the layout

I  tucked in some dusky red twine tied into bows into the flower clusters.

Lastly as sometimes happens when I design a page I start of not using texture paste and stencils and then by the end I decide I want to use it! This was one of those layouts, so at this point I then added patches of stencilling around the design.

Last thing on the layout was some random stamping with black distress ink. I think it just adds a bit more detail and depth to the background of the layout and makes the layout ‘pop’ .

And voila! a finished layout.

Fancy having a go yourself with the sketch?

So here is how to enter this months sketch challenge…

June Kit Sketch Challenge By Heather Thompson

Happy Memories

Hello All, today I want to share another page I made with the Tres Jolie Main Kit. I also added a few extras that came in the card kit. This is a picture of Maksim and I.  We had a night on the town while visiting over in England. A proper pub, a posh restaurant and the English hospitality and warmth.

I based this page of the sketch that Kim made for the June Kit.

I made a short video of the creative process, and the evolution of this page.

Here are a few close ups…..

Using various die-cuts from my stash, I used the 13@rts paper to add layers to the photo composition, along with fussy cutting elements from the “All Good Things”

We made so many happy memoires on our latest trip and the sketch gave me the inspiration to capture one of them. We hope to see you play along with the sketch this month with the fabulous June Kit.

Sketch Challenge Monday

Happy Monday everyone, it’s Kim here. Today is what I’m going to call sketch challenge Monday (later to be renamed challenge Monday). I’m going to reveal my take on the sketch.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it:

Of course I used our gorgeous June kit which just revealed here . It’s filled with beautiful papers from 13@rts and Prima. Plus fun embellishments from Creative Embellishments and more Prima goodies.

How about some close-ups:

I took the frame and turned it on it’s side. I also embossed it with some Lindy’s embossing powder. I did a bit of background stamping.

I used a couple different sized flowers in my cluster. Plus I stuck the watering can in there. I loved the look of it. I added some lace to mimic the lace in the sketch. The words were cut from the die cut piece of paper.

This is my smaller cluster in the lower left had side of the page. I built it around the water pump. More background stamping, a flower, resin feather and word cut from the die cut paper.

Here is my little tip for the week: I have found that Lindy’s Flat Fabio C’est la Vie Cerise and Lindy’s Starburst Mist Tibetan Poppy Teal are great matches for the papers in this kit. If you have those in your stash try them out.

I can’t wait to see what you guys create based on the sketch. Don’t forget to load your entries in the sketch challenge folder here , so you will be eligible for the prize.

Join us all month-long as the designers reveal all their projects created with all our amazing kits. We still have kit subscriptions available here. You can also just try out a single kit here.
