Believe Christmas Bunting and Tutorial with Rae

Happy Saturday, friends!

I’m excited to share a piece of holiday decor I made using the December scrapbook kit. I’ve been working on making buntings to hang in my house for all seasons. So far I’ve made one for Autumn and Summer, and now a Christmas one. I decided to make this holiday bunting with stockings instead of banners for a festive twist. The Maja Design Joyous Winterdays collection is perfect for a classic, vintage piece of decor.

Here it is:

I started by cutting out 7 stockings, one for each letter in the word “Believe.” I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut these out, but the shape is pretty basic, so you could draw one by hand and cut it out without a machine. 🙂

When I cut the stocking and the top, I did so at different times so I could get the right fit, but using the other side of the page.

I also wanted to add an oval to the middle of each stocking, so I picked an oval die that would work with the left over paper from each stocking.

Once cut out, I distressed each piece, and added some dark grey chalk ink.

I cut out some oval frames using some glitter cardstock from my stash to put under the oval that I cut out from the Maja Design paper. Then I added foam tape to both layers to give the project some dimension. I normally use cardboard to “pop up” my layers, but on a project like this where it will be hanging, I don’t want that to be visible in between the layers.

Once I had all of the ovals glued to the stockings, I decorated each one using items from the kit. I loved these silver and mint green flowers, but I wanted to give them a heavily frosted look without losing the shape, so I added embossing liquid to them, then poured this glittery embossing powder over them, shook them off, and then used a heat tool to set the powder.

They weren’t 100% covered, and I love the look! If you don’t have a glittery embossing powder, you can simply add glitter to any embossing powder to get the same results.

I tried to get the same or similar design on all of the stockings. I added some letters that I cut with my Cameo from some scrap paper, then added the dark grey chalk ink in a distressed fashion. After I glued down the letters, I traced each of them (seen in the final pictures) with a white ink pen so they could be easily seen.

I added the silver and white flowers treated with the embossing powder, then added the Prima Marketing Sweet Peppermint silver leaves. I also cut up the Prima Vintage Christmas Poinsettia Kiss vine/stem so I could tuck them under the flower cluster. I also cut out some of the little kids, snowmen, and Santas from the papers to include in the clusters.

Then I added some of the Creative Embellishments chipboard from the kit (Holly border and frame pieces) that I cut up. I used some Stampendous shabby green embossing powder to get the effect you can see in the pic below. To finish off the design, I added some of the Kaisercraft white pearls to the oval frame.

Once done with all seven of the stockings, it was time to hang them up. Here’s how I added the ribbon:

I started by using my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole at the top of each stocking.

Next, I used the Crop-a-Dile again on the ribbon. Becasue of the material, the holes wouldn’t be solid. but it ters the fabric enough to be able to make a hole.

Then, I added a grommet, making sure to keep the ribbon straight.

For added interest, I added some of these Prima metal snowflakes from my stash to each of the stockings.

And now they are ready to hang.

Here’s a close up of each stocking:

15th Anniversary from Annie Carignan

Hello everyone!! December kit is here and I am super excited to share my creations for this month.  December is a special month for us because first of all, my husband and I met in December, there is Christmas of course AND my daughter was born in December.

This background paper reminded me of our wedding because we got married in the Winter but also because my dress and the groom’s accessories had light blue in them.  This was the perfect kit for Winter photos :). We will celebrate our 15th Anniversary in January so why not do a layout about that day 🙂

This is a pretty simple layout where I did not use a lot of mediums except some splashes of White Gesso on the background and some gel to fix the snow and the Art Sugar from the Mixed Media kit.

I used different layers of paper behind the photo and lots of Pearls.  I used the Holly and Berry Border from Creative Embellishments that I painted White.  I just love the little Shovel !!!

I loved adding the Art Sugar everywhere, I think it adds great texture and color to the layout.

Journey: An Altered Gift Box with Rae

Happy Saturday, crafty people!

I’m sharing the last project I made with the November kit today: an altered gift box. I have a hoard of boxes that I save from all kinds of packaging to “upcycle” into prettier things! This box was packaging for a cell phone case:

It was so simple to make! Here’s how I did it:

I started out with this box:

Using the Prima Marketing Icing paste, I panted the edges of the box with a course brush. The paste is thick, but I only wanted the color of it, not the texture. Using a brush with stiff bristles gives me the finish I want.

I carefully paint the sides of the bottom of the box, and the sides of the top one as well. I cover some of the top as well, which I will cover with paper.

Next, I cut out some feathers and the clock from the AB Studio papers, as well as a piece to top the box with.

I cut out a doily using the black AB Studio paper.

I distress the edges of the paper, then apply some pink ink.

I add some script stenciling (The stencil and paste are from my stash.).

I allow it to dry.

Then I add some more pink using these two sprays, and allow the paper to dry.

I add some of the ribbon from the kit to the edges of the top of the box.

Next, I add layers. This is the first layer of feathers that I add to figure out how many more I can add.

I add the clock and doily die cut.

And then I add the rest of the feathers, flowers, and metal piece.

I also added a pretty moon charm from my stash. (Prima Marketing Moon Child collection)

Another closeup.

Greetings Cards by Ginny

Hi all,

Today I’m sharing another set of cards created with the Cards Tags and More kit!

These cards are a little bit more modern and bold compared to the shabby chic set I made at the beginning of the month. I hope you like them!

Here is each card close up.

Here is a short process on how they were put together.

I started with the Card blank for my base.

Now for all the layers, each photo shows you each layer in order with the measurements.

Distress all edges

Layer and stick all pieces on the card base in order of size, largest to smallest.

Add a strip of gems down one side

And a group of flowers in the corner.

Lastly emboss the chipboard word greeting with black embossing powder and glue in place on the card.

November kit 4th reveal by Annie Carignan

Hello everyone ! I am sharing today my fourth project for this month.  The focus on this layout is the beautiful resin frame from Prima which is included in the Mixed Media kit.

I coated some clear Gesso on this White 12×12 cardstock. Then I used stencil from the mixed media and Modeling Paste.  I stamped the background with ABStudio stamp and put some color with aquarelle paint from my stash.

I cut different peaces of flowers, leaves and clocks from what I had left over from the scrapbook kit and added them under the photo as well as peaces of chipboard that I painted white.

I used some of the Finnabair glaze on the frame and art stones to create texture.

Mixed Media Kit Spotlight

Hello!

Today we are showcasing our November Mixed Media kit. Each month we offer a mixed media kit that has an assortment of mixed media and tools, AND a project to make with them. As you can see in the picture below, this month’s kit has new Prima icing paste, as well as art stones and a beautiful flourish stencil. There is enough of these products to use on multiple projects, not just the project included in the kit! Also included are a set of three embroidery hoops, some canvas fabric, and some beautiful embellishments: a Prima resin frame and flowers, and some Creative Embellishments chipboard flourishes.

You may have seen some of the projects made with some of these items. Today I am sharing the project that I made using this kit.

I started this project by cutting the canvas and adding them to the embroidery hoops, then crudely painted the embroidery hoops and canvas with white gesso. Then I mixed up some of the Prima icing paste with water and gave the hoops another wash, leaving the canvas white.

On the larger two hoops I added some stenciling with the Prima flourish stencil. Then I painted over the stenciling with white gesso and before it dried, I wiped it off to give a faded look to the stenciling, which you can see in the closeup below.

Once dry, I glued the hoops together. I reversed the smallest one and place the resin frame on it to create a shallow shadow box effect. I added a clock cut out from the scrapbook kit, then added some lace and clock charm from my stash, as well as some small flowers.

I added painted the flourish chipboard with gesso and light green paint and cut the pieces to fit my design. I added flowers to the largest two hoops. Some of the smaller flowers are from my stash. I added some whitewashing with diluted gesso to blend them into the project.

On the largest hoop I added some papers from my stash (Prima Love Story).

And, I also added a chipboard title from my stash. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Check out the blog this week for the last of the design team’s November projects!

“Capture” Layout with Rae

Happy Saturday!

Today I am sharing another layout I made with the November scrapbook kit. I fell in love with the “Paradise Dream” piece of paper from the AB Studio Dreamland collection. I loved the small and large butterflies on opposite sides of the page and it made me think of creating a design of a large cluster and a small cluster on top of the butterflies. I kept it simple because I didn’t want the butterfly images to “get lost” on the page.

I started out by adding some stenciling with pink and then grey distress ink in the areas surrounding the two butterflies.

From there, I added a couple of tags to each side. I added some eyelets and thread to the tags. Each cluster got some of the patina gears and Prima Marketing metal clocks peeking from under the tags.

Each cluster also got a photo with lace peeking from under it, some of the 49 and Market pink flowers from the kit, as well as some smaller pink and red ones from my stash which are from 49 and Market also.

I also added a Creative Embellishments chipboard key to each cluster that I embossed with some black and gold powders.

If you are thinking of trying out any of our kits, NOW is the perfect time. We are having a Black Friday Sale RIGHT NOW! Check it out!

“Faire des folies” with Annie Carignan

Hello again everyone !

I am sharing today another layout that I made with beautiful November Scrapbook Kit where we had ABStudio gorgeous products, 49 and Market and Prima flowers along with great chipboards from Creative Embellishments.

For this layout I wanted to work with the feathers, which are not something I normally use so this was a little bit of a challenge for me because I never know where to put them !  So I had this idea of using all of them so they would be the focus of my page.

First thing I did was  gesso the background, then I cut little peaces of paper for the top and the bottom that I adhered making a triangle directed to the center and reaching the bottom. I used AB Studio stencil with Paste.  I took the feathers and adhered them from the top to the center, and from the bottom to the center also. I painted them with white gesso.  I put some  Icing Paste to give color just a little and added   the trim lace on top and bottom.  I finished by adding flowers, tags, bird and Art Stones.

Here are some close-ups :
